This was a fun battle to make! Legendary Viking versus legendary King. Raider vs Crusader. Is it Lodbrok or Lothbrok? We couldn't decide. But, we settled on Ragnar Lodbrok. And then we wondered whether it should be titled Richard The Lionheart or Richard I? We plumped for Lionheart. Let's be honest - it sounds more epic! :)

Ross is so good at his job that I literally never noticed how smooth all of the transitions are. It just looked right
Honestly that part was super interesting, didn’t even notice or realize that. Proves that those transitions are just that good.
I recommend his channel so much, he is criminally underrated and uploads hour long videos that’ll have you chuckling the entire way. I suggest starting with his older reviews and slowly working your way up to the latest one, trust me, you won’t regret it!

Well, it's a reference to the french nursery rhyme "Frère Jacques" which, in English, is called "Brother John" and is about a monk.
It's a great line to setup for his next lines that talk about monks and John.

Exactly! Especially love them actively giving segments to other artists who helped make it more outright than in previous videos, very informative stuff and nice to get to see more of the faces involved with creating the wonderful aesthetic their rao battles have.
It’s Ragnarr Loðbrók - the ð, (name of the letter is Edd/Eth), is a very soft 'th'/'dh'/'edh' sound, like in 'father', Óðinn. Jólföðr.
So while it’s spelled with a form of d, it sounds more like th/dh when you pronounce Loðbrók
Yeah we have all of these phonemes in English, we got them from Norse and Danes, it‘s not as difficult as it looks to say!
This and Assassins Creed teaching me history more effectively than half my teachers

My best bet is when John Wick 4 comes out, 'cause John Wick vs The Punisher would make for a solid match.

I believe the quote about selling London was in reference to funding the crusade. Richard was very devoted to the crusade and basically fought the war on his own after Philip II fucked off at the start of the war and sailed back to France and Frederick Barbarosa died shortly into it.

I'd go with Mulan VS Boudica. Both are women who fought, but Boudica could be a woman, while Mulan had to pretend to be a man (for contrast). I even have a line for Boudica already figured out. And, based on Boudica's story, Mulan has some serious ammunition for some truly meaty punches.

That also fits due to both being Queens of war.
……. Damn, harsh pick. Boudicca attacked far off Roman garrisons and failed spectacularly whereas Milan never was a Queen but succeeded. Add in Elizabeth I and Jadwiga of Poland.

4:10 So technically Richard was born in England, but he spent most of his growing up years with his mother, Eleanor of Aquitaine, in what is now the southwest part of France. Though he was the King of England, he was much more French than English. I loved this rap battle. Good job guys!

I think featuring animators is too good of an opportunity to pass up, so I'd actually suggest a 5-way animated battle of animators, from Disney (cartoon version) to Hannah and Barbera, to the guy who made Bugs Bunny (I forget his name), to Matt Groening, and ending with Miyazaki.
I think this has so much potential to be really artistic, and it could reference A LOT of other animations, from South Park to Cartoon Network to various animes. Idk, just an idea.
EDIT: and Mickey Mouse is becoming public domain in a couple years so maybe that could play into this.

Ross, when you talked about using the movements as transitions let me tell you that I noticed Ragnars axe swing immediately and loved it
Got to say I really like the subtle production in this battle.
The lighting of Ragnar being that gloomy blue and near the sea and Richard being shiny and bright a literal night and day between the two

Another great battle, very nice rhymes and lyrics, lots of double entendres and multi-word play, and I also have to say a huge thank you for continuing to include even more details in your bts videos, showcasing different people that work on the whole production, seeing how it all comes together, editing, lighting, how its filmed etc, its all great. Really happy you're back and as always, can't wait to see what you'll come up with next :)
