The population of Utah is predominately Mormon and they're quite conservative. I've just checked. On January 4th of this year, a judge in Utah's Third District Court upheld the use of a firing squad for executions. The most recent execution by firing squad was in June, 2010.

  • @kebabloodmoon6848

As one from Utah, yes, we have a firing squad. It's super rare that it's ever enforced. Last one was on June 18, 2010, after a prisoner killed an attorney during a courthouse escape attempt.

From what my grandad told me about bonnie and Clyde hunt down , they had managed to escape a few police entrapment scenarios and police were killed and Clyde got them away in his Ford v8 . So when the opportunity cane around again they were not going to take chances in arresting them or letting anything happen like it had previously. So they used the colt monitor and other big guns to guarantee they would not make it past the trap again . So that car was their coffin with the amount of ammo shot into it !!

yess! love garand thumb! hes got some great videos i think would be great for reaction. top one i can think of is what getting shot sounds like with different calibers cheers!

  • @wittsullivan8130

The Colt Monitor was a commercial version of the BAR. It was lighter weight because it had a lighter, shorter barrel, no bipod, lighter stock with no shoulder support piece, and a pistol grip. .30-06 is the same round the M-1 Garand and the Browning M1919 .30 caliber machine gun used. It's mostly a deer rifle round that can take down any medium to large game in North America and probably Africa from white tail deer to moose to grizzlies to polar bears.

Due to all of the lawsuits over lethal injection, my state of South Carolina is the only state to have the electric chair as its primary form of execution. In Washington state they allow the prisoner to select which form of execution he wants. The choices are hanging and firing squad (one rifle and 5 electric triggers only one of which actually fires the rifle). There is one prisoner there who had managed to delay his execution for over 20 years as he kept selecting hanging. He weighs over 500 lbs and as any attempt at hanging would rip off his head that falls under the cruel and unusual term and is thus forbidden. It is a stupid flaw in the laws they have never bothered to correct to my knowledge but I haven't lived there for over 20 years now so I could be wrong and by now he could have just died of old age.

That last one through the truck glass, "that's a terrible weapon system"...wellllllll...id say it did it's job 😅

  • @kobeslaughter4671

I love American weapons around this time. "How big of a bullet can we fire and how fast?" is the only conversation that was had lmao.

The firing squad wasn't quite right. When Gary Gilmore was executed, he was supposedly seated on a wooden chair, back towards the shooters.

  • @lancehayes9983

The monitor being called ugly hurt my soul.

  • @armorer94

Mike is the real deal. He was combat air controller in the Air Force and was embedded with combat troops.

  • @tylerpacker6047

Love seeing reactions to Garand Thumb.

  • @trentenswett6306

Been in Utah for 16-17 years, took law enforcement in highschool, we had to go over the various execution methods used and still in use in the state and nation, I can confirm Utah does still have the option for the firing squad.

Grand Thumb is an extremely serious dude, with an awesome sense of humor.

  • @braydub1

There’s a movie called the Highwaymen telling the story of the Texas rangers going after Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow.

  • @dhm7815

The CZcams video Jade Explains Death gives the data from a Utah execution where the condemned agreed to a complete hookup. Brain activity continued for 2 minutes after the shooting. Probably not conscious thru all of that.

Garand Thumb and several other gun folk/ veteran/ youtubers appear in a fan fiction film, Jurassic Park Exodus, which can be found on CZcams.
