DC-3 Flight from Malmi | Helsinki from Above 4K

Helsinki + Islands from Above!
Today we're taking a very special flight together, onboard a 1942 Douglas DC-3 that was ordered by PanAm! This plane, call sign OH-LCH, used to fly passengers in Finnair's predecessor Aero, prior to being converted to a cargo plane and performing other tasks like a paratrooper plane and communications equipment carrying.
Today DC-yhdistys ry (www.dc-ry.fi), an association established to maintain DC-3 aircraft and preserve the related knowledge in Finland, takes good care of it. They also organize flights for association members, flying over 100 hours a year. Visit their website to learn about upcoming flights!
The flight that we're taking is departing from Malmi airport in Helsinki, today's main hub for general aviation and which used to be Finland's main airport until 1952. We'll take off runway 18 and head southwest towards Kulosaari and Katajanokka, and turn west bordering Eira and Jätkäsaari. We'll be cruising at about 300 meters (1000 ft), and at about 250 km/h (155 mph).
Our flight will then continue past Lauttasaari and Espoo until we reach Munkkiranta, where we'll turn around and head back to the city. As we prepare our approach we'll see Itäkeskus, and right after we land, we'll have time to take a closer look at the cabin and other exterior features of this beautiful plane.

What a nice day for flying. How long did the flight last? Awesome views and editing. I'm always complaining....but again, it was too short. I want MOORE

Hi PeterNGloor, I chose this music so this video is cohesive with the rest of the videos in the channel, I’m sorry you found it unnecessary. About the propeller motion, it’s a side effect of filming at 30fps, maybe next time I’ll consider 24fps. Glad you enjoyed the plane, though; I also enjoyed the planes in your channel
