  • Jätkäsaari + Ruoholahti from Above!
Relieve some stress by exploring some of the most beautiful neighborhoods in Helsinki, Finland from the bird's-eye perspective of a drone.
Today we're flying over two neighborhoods only separated by a gorgeous canal and linked, among others, by the impressive Crusell Bridge (cable-stayed, 173m/567ft long and 92m/301ft tall).
We will start with Jätkäsaari (Busholmen in Swedish), which actually happened to be three islands (Jätkäsaari, Hietasaari, Saukko), then filled to create the peninsula. It used to be the container harbor of Helsinki until 2008, and it still holds a large passenger harbor. We'll make a couple of passes around Terminal 2, which you may remember if you've traveled to Helsinki from Tallinn or St. Petersburg in the past couple of years. Jätkäsaari has changed a lot in the last months, and as you will see, it will continue to change as its expected 21 000 residents move in. Before we check out the colorful buildings being built, we'll take a look at the Clarion Hotel (78m/255ft), located right at the beginning of the peninsula. We'll then visit the heart of the neighborhood and explore the S-shaped park and Rokkiporkkana, the orange pedestrian bridge - I dare you to translate its name!
Ruoholahti (Gräsviken in Swedish) used to be a great industrial center in the last century, which included the cable factory of Nokia (before they moved onto communications). It now boasts a business center with offices for companies like Supercell or Huawei and architecturally dominated by the High Tech Centre (HTC) complex (2001), with their distinctive orange columns that reinforce the harbor look. It won't be hard for you to spot the Salmisaari CHP power plant (1984), with its 153m/501ft tall chimney it's the tallest point in Helsinki - I hope you like the view around it!
We will say bye to each other with a last pass over the canal and its bridges, a truly stunning view.
If you're curious about more neighborhoods, don't forget to subscribe!
Now sit back, relax and enjoy our flight together. Tervetuloa!

MrFafenbach it was a couple of weeks ago, early morning :) the good thing about summer in Finland is that is quite bright very early so it allows for videos without many people - check out the Katajanokka one, almost empty! In the future I’ll try to get some evening/sunsets shots too, stay tuned!
