We really just have one goal - to make your food life better. Ok that, and be entertained at the same time. And have you learn a few things along the way. So let’s make it 3 goals then.
If you only want the steps to make something, like those vids shot from above with no people, no conversation no nuthin - then we are absolutely not for you. But if you wanna a little fun while you learn, then this is the place.
Cooking doesn’t have to be hard, it just has to be delicious.

THANK YOU ❗️ - Zábava
For some reason I get kinda warm inside when I see a foreigner liking our Finnish stuff. :)But you forgot to put egg butter on your karjalanpirrakka.
That's a mouthful.
I’m going to try making these this weekend and even try the egg butter. It seems really weird, like scrambled eggs on a pie. Lol. But I’m going to try it.
Nykyään ei karjalanpiirakoissa käytetä ku riisiä..
Newfoundlander married to a Finn. The people, food and country are truly fab. We lived in Helsinki for two years. It is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Back on "the Rock" now, which is what we Newfoundlanders call our Island home. Hubby loves it here as much as we love it there.
Finland is so beautiful.....
And everything they showed was only in about a 200m area. There's a lot more to see of Finland! ;)
That's only Helsinki and it's a dump... The more north you go it gets more beautiful.
Eicca nyt tulee turpaa
Its is, i still wanna live in California😄 this is a great coumtry to live in but daamn, when its winter time u deffinetly notice it
Amazing video quality... No unnecessary music and anything... Everything nice and simple

So Sam was eating muikku (vendace, Coregonus albula) fish outdoors.
Then at the Old Marketplace lihis or lihapiirakka (meat pie) which needs heating! and a couple of hot dog sausages inside with mustard, ketchup, and cucumber relish.
Then karjalanpiirakka or Karelian pasty made of rice porridge and rye pastry.
Then reindeer sandwich.
Esplanadi or esplanade street is divided in southern and northern sides with the Esplanadi Park in the middle. Finns just call it Espa.
Finland Explorer Muikku=minnow
Tai selkeemmin riisipiirakka ettei sekota oikeiden karjalanpiirakoiden kanssa
reindeer sandwich = lihapiirakka,vähän poro täytteenä :D
muikku with garlic sauce is so good and salmon soup is delicious
I'm a Finn living in southern Sweden and just visited Helsinki a couple of days ago. Did you know that that very market place fills out with vintage American cars on the first Friday of each month during the summer after the market closes? Great footage, you guys captured a lot of cool buildings in a short time! There are about 600 Art Noveau and Jugend style buildings in Helsinki city center...never get tired of them!
The reindeer sandwich didn't have bread, it was actually the same meat pie (lihapiirakka, lihis) that was just filled with all the stuff. That is why it had rice and minced meat inside too.
I loved how clean the streets are
Good vid this is on my bucket list Finland....my mother was Finnish American we had plans to go to Finland but she got sick...looks beautiful she had family in Vaasa...Kittos
I live in Vaasa
Kiitos ! Have You ever Tried any Finnish Food ?
I loved how you saw and observed Finland really great👍
oh my goodnesss all the food u ate loookss super yumm!!!
I liked the video. 💛
Julia Smith Name twins😅
My grandparents are Finnish. Thanks for this video 😀
Very nice video thank. You
So, amazing! I had actually wanted to go in January (I know, crazy, but I love the cold). I definitely have to get that sandwich if I go.
oh my gosh the fish loooks super yuummmmy!
I had to stop watching your cooking videos. They’re so intoxicating and I literally just can stay all day watching them 🤣🤣🤣🤭
Those rice pies are Karelian pasties called karjalanpiirakka.
Karjalanpiirakoissa on kyllä yleensä jotain muuta täytettä kuin riisiä
El Dakka ei kyllä ole😂
El Dakka perunapiirakka on ihan eri asia
What is the “garlic sauce” they serve “everywhere” and what all do they serve it with?
The outdoor market by the quay is a marvellous place to stop off for lunch, should have eaten poronkaristys, so simple but so delicious.
Loved this, really good!
Im a cooking guy too.
Hi Sam. So wonderful that you got to visit Finland. I love all the food you were tasting but my favorite spot was that fish counter with all them yummy fishies. I hope you enjoy the sauna ! :)
Hello beautiful 😍
Hope you’re doing good today??
Karjalanpiirakka definitely needs some butter on it. Fresh from the oven and some butter 🧈 😋
Yes , we love coffee ☕
in The Netherlands we eat herring like that
Lihis is best warm with condiments and maybe with a nice sausage like ryynimakkara. Karjalanpiirakka is great with egg butter but I love it with hot mustard and emmental cheese. Try!
heat up and put som melted butter on the karjalanpiirakka to make it taste even better! Awesome video!
He may be Canadian but his manners are as American as it gets! Love the show Sam
Sam you have got to go to Germany! Germany in the summer and while the Christmas markets are open. The street food is amazing. I remember Oktoberfest like it was yesterday... Years ago btw LOL! But even just the roasted chicken was so good it was silly. I ate half a chicken with chips (like steak fries) in minutes without even thinking about it. There's a restaurant in downtown München (Munich) close to Hofbräuhaus that is absolutely amazing. I had the best steak with mushroom and pepper gravy there. Not to mention the breakfast served at the hotel which makes US hotels look silly. The Christmas markets are another thing entirely. I pray that I get to go back eventually just got these. Yum yum yum
It is called Karjalan piirakka/Karelian Pie...you should eat it with mashed butter/hard Boiled egg.
No ei välttämättä kun ei kaikkiin piirakkoihin sovi esim. Lantulla
which is better to visit, Helsinki or Copenhagen? Which is cheaper, and better to eat fish?
my husband and i will surely drink their coffee everyday, of course when COVID is over , we will for sure visit that place #Helsinki
The fish is like eating lake smelt in the great lakes region.
My girlfriends family is all Finish and a small thing... they don’t pronounce “sauna” like we do, they say “ souna “ 🙂
Yep, there is no ”sawing” in sauna if you get the pun 😉
Cool, my home county but I live in San Diego
So, that's where Santa's reindeer went.
YOU HAVE TO FOKING WARM THEM!!!!!!!!!! And put egg butter to karelian pies
You have not have a bad cup of coffee? Try huoltamoterva.
XtreeM FaiL never heard
actually it isn't confirmed how many saunas there are in finland, so the cars vs. saunas might not be true. but we do have a hell of a lot of saunas.
just make saunatax real and we can count the saunas
3:06 this name piirakka
Think you can reproduce the garlic sauce?
It's pretty simple. Varies a bit of course, but 2dl mayonnaise 1dl cream about 3 gloves of garlic and half a teaspoon of mixed pepper powder. Sometimes there's some chives mixed in.
Sorry it's on metric. I didn't have time to run the amouts through a converter.
thanks
Quiwi Lin Lisolet what kinds of things do yall serve it with?
Just few weeks ago this video had 69420 views. Nice.
2:23 NOBODY eats lihapiikakka or "lihis" cold or nothing inside of them. Also cold karjalanpiirakka is not nearly as god as warmed up and having some butter and slices of eggs on top.
Yes. He should have bough lihapiirakka from grill. It's on a different level, if you warm it up and add at least mustard. Karjalanpiirakka with butter or with smashed eggs and butter is awesome. Maybe the best Finnish food.
@@xvnbm karjalanpiirakka lanttutäytteellä
Damn expensive stuff
I've been everywhere you visited! (Yes, I have a Finnish name, but I still am a visitor in Finland when I go there). I wish I could have been a tourguide for you! Definitely a +1 for @314ngu's comment about egg butter (munavoi) for the karjalanpiirakka!
Wishing I was in Finland #samsgiving2020
did you missed hakaniemimarket, shiieeeeeet
0:25 what the hell!!! Those were huge!!! They should be 15x smaller!
Yea, the bones in muikku will be quite annoying if the fish is too big. I like them very small... Though deep fried proper sized muikku is one of the best things in finland.
I’ve never seen anybody eating them with garlic sauce :O And I’m a muikku man
Ei ees oo isoja nuo
Kind of a shame that you only went to the market for food. It's nice to get the stuff you got, sure, but there are so many amazing restaurants in Helsinki you could have shown. Also kind of a shame that you were only in a tiny part of Helsinki, there's a lot more to see than just Pohjoisesplanadi, Senate Square and Kauppatori/halli and that area in general.
Oh, that's great to hear! :) I see people on Instagram or wherever all the time visiting Helsinki and as I am from here, it always bothers me to see that people only go to that area!
Was in Helsinki last year...a really beautiful city with very friendly people.....and I generally don't like cities.
I want to see you eat and use that bear meat in some recipe!
Okay now i know what happen to poor Rudolph, Santa Clause sold him to the meat market. Oh damn and its good too
Northern Esplanade :) Pohjoisesplanaadi
So north esplanade street is great, but south esplanade street which is on the other side of the esplanade park sucks 😉
it doesn't have that many shops, mostly in both ends, people rarely go there through the (narrow) park :)
And it's usually shadowed - sun shining from the south, so the buildings the sunlight mostly.

How TF can you go to Helsingfors and NOT cross over to Sweden ?! I'll need to send you some Surströmming. Fucking deliscious!
7:38 you're implying that Canadians and Americans are at number 2 and 3 in coffee consumption but it's actually Norway and Iceland.
Plus Americans drink rubbish filter coffee
Did you see Linus Trovalds? Linux's birthplace.
That swede lives in the US iirc.
He is finnish.
@@oraalid0nitsi He is Finnish actually; there is a minority group of finnish-swedes in Finland (maybe 5% of the population), with some small towns where they only speak Finnish. But no matter what language they speak, they are Finnish citizens, same as everybody else. Because of this Swedish speaking population all Finns learn Swedish in school, as a second language, along with English.
Datamike kyä mää ny tiiän nääs!
OMG ARE YOU TOM HANKS???
Im finnish and I have never eaten reindeer.
Keralian pirakka and Lihan pirakka (pie).....that meat isn't just reindeer it could also be some moose
the meat is always regular cow meat
mikä vitun keralianpiirakka? Xddddd
Good calcium from fish
Garlic SUS? 😳😳😳😳
do they eat fish everywhere ? like asian ?
We eat pretty plain food with minimal spices (mainly salt and pepper). Potato, fish and dairy products are very common
Finland is the coldest country in the World (Except maybe Iceland, which sucks all year round). In every other country you can find areas, which are warmer than ANY point in Finland.
Love the ignorance..makes me smile:)
Muikku
Pre 2020. This is weird to me.
I'm not sure viewers care. But, the food Is 10 x healthier than American or Mexican cuisine.
Oh god so much for customer service again in Finland. Dear lord. You get FREE advertisement for your amazing shop and you scold people for filming? Come on. Btw, I'm Finnish too. Finns need to stop behaving like this it's embarassing.
Not everyone likes to be filmed, it's just the way it is, and I'm unsure, considering the great spot where that shop already is, that she needed free advertising from a video with (at the moment) 14.5k views. Not to mention that a great many of the viewers will never visit the country, nevermind that particular building with that particular shop.
Just saying...
You should always ask before filming (or photographing) someone! He should have blurred her face in editing because she said she didn't want to be filmed, not just complained about it.
The whole video Is soo awkward
People are very friendly and helpful, but the coffee is awful.
I TAKE MY MOTHER TO NAILS DOCTOR NEZHA ALAOUI KHALESS MY DOCTOR TOO MAY ALLAH BLESS MY MOTHER
Dude, I know you are doing your best promoting their food and I can see that.
I would like to visit finland someday.
But for me to live there is another story.
Nothing Good ever comes out of cold and I kinda got the idea of the old world food culture. no thanks.
Well all those foods should have eaten warm
Those prices... You got ripped off
Finland is very expensive.
Talking with food in your mouth that's bad manners
Finlad is sucha boring and gray coutry😅
Too bad you just visited Kouvola.
How about not filming people that doesn't want to be filmed. Typical obnoxious behavior
It is allowed to film in public place. You do not need to ask permission. That is just a bad customer service.....
@@npineapple3077Public place = space that is generally open and accessible to people. So you say to me that market hall is not a public place? Try to read some legislation.
It is not about having the right to film or not, it is about being polite and respectful.
You CAN film there, but since it is a private business, they can ask the photographer to leave.
Wake me up when this boring video finishes. 🥱
