We made three DIY tyres out of rubber bands, duct tape and an old garden hose. Yes itâs stupid, but surely at least one of them might work?!
With our ridiculous tyres fitted, it was time to test them. We werenât particularly confident about how long theyâd last, so we decided that an endurance race was the best way to judge them. Most laps wins, least amount of laps takes the PT Cruiser for the week.

These episodes lately have such classic Top Gear energy and I'm incredibly here for it
I'm here for the same reasons, their videos have the same feel as classic Top Gear, three friends having fun larking about with cars, whilst also creating technical & interesting content about cars.
So that's why their format was so familiar! Damn I miss the old Top Gear.
I came into this channel for the first time like " Scott is cool , will be interesting to learn a thing or two from him about cars" .
Now I'm like "Scott is a toddler in a man's body that knows how to drive really fast"
he's basically a fast clarkson
I think what makes this channel so charming is the following 1. The chemistry between the crew. 2. The lowish budget. 3. The carefree attitude. 4. The hands on work. Basically a blend of old wheeler dealers and prime top gear
Being creative and doing stuff that is affordable for the viewer

I expected the duct tape to hold up much better than it did. I was sure that it could hold up to 70 mph. It looked like it just started to not stick to itself. Perhaps better duct tape might work.
Scott has to be one of the best bosses ever.
If I remember correctly, the garden hose is how Dunlop got the idea for the first pneumatic tyre.

Same question but rolls wouldn't be as usefull since there's different sizes (15-50m as far as i know) so real question is how many meters of ducttape

That would be awesome, but you would need a big 3D printer and there would be a worry of layer adhesion. For a true absurd diy tire, put a couple rolls of tpu into a pot and cast it into a tire shaped mould.
