Can you drift a non-drift car? We wanted to try out three solutions to that problem, McDonald's trays under the rear tyres, custom-made nylon drift plates or EasyDrift wheel sleeves!

We needed to get the hang of each our solutions. So for the first challenge each of us will need to get the most angle around this corner WITHOUT SPINNING. We’ll judge each one using the Insta 360 footage.
Our second challenge would be a test of our drifting precision. We’d need to get as close as possible to a watermelon without smashing it to bits. However, Scott wanted to spice it up a bit.

You should rig the 360 cam view into a VR headset worn by the driver (or even just a laptop screen and black out the windows), and see who's the fastest around the track using only chase-cam.

In Japan, people wrap their wheels in I think big PVC pipe, and drift little front wheel drive k cars. Very similar to the drifting covers but cheap in all the ways lol
Are they allowed on tracks or do they drive them on the road? In the U.S we mostly do it with ATV's and Go-Karts on private land
@@simonlegall2135 I've only seen it done on special track days for the people that are into it. But I bet it comes from people doing it on the street.
@@TekedixXxNot really a street thing. You can’t drive pvc anywhere fast really and it’s mostly a way for super low power drifting at low speeds. Unlike regular drift cars which use road tires. The durability is also an issue and a racetrack is one of the few places that is always prepared to fix/tow cars while maintaining a nice surface to drive on. It’s not safe nor practical to use pvc for any street use barring go kart drifting so it’s incredibly unlikely people are taking these to the streets.

Pull the Haldex fuse and the TT will be FWD. you lot should know this, you’re car guys!
How does that work if the 4wd is mechanical

@@dieselscartalk4146 it doesnt. You would need to remove the dif for it to work. But the Haldex is a electronically steered AWD system so unplugging it wont cause the car to engage the rear axle.
@@dieselscartalk4146 TT has haldex center diff which is engages electronically. So, no fuse, no 4wd.

I know we only see the on camera side of these guys but damn they really do seem like a fun bunch of guys to hang out with. I would give anything to have scott in the passengers seat of my car during a track day. I feel like he would be the perfect balance of infinite knowledge and hilarious commentary.

Its clear. Thoes lads are Mates goofing arround and apperently a camera was roling. I love it!
callum wasnt aware that the TT and "4Motion" quattro setup was FWD most of the time until it felt slippage of the rear tires, and then engaged a clutch in the Haldex system to drive the rear wheels. that is by design. you can get a Haldex controller that changes that setup, but by default, the golf R from back then, and many of the quattro cars were fwd first, and awd only when slipping.
Never before has anyone enjoyed driving a PT Cruiser! That looked like a lot of fun
Somehow, I actually always learn things from your ads. I was wondering how some YTers had Chase cams on their cars driving, and this video's ad explained why. Established Titles ad also made me know why people were "Lord" or, "Lady"

Tangential, but The camera has a really good quality. Seen lots of 360 cameras that have artifacts and whatnot and this looks really fine.

Pretty sure you can pull a fuse in the TT and it'll stop the haldex from engaging meaning it'll stay FWD... That's if its the same as my s3
You can just unplug the haldex unit on the diff and make it front wheel drive, I had an S3 8L and that's how they dyno'd it on a 2 wheel dyno :)

You know you can just unplug the Haldex on the diff on Quattros of that era... That makes it front wheel drive only... That's how people dyno them on 2 wheel dynos.
You could have kept going in the audi, if you'd just pull the fuse for the awd system, because it will become fwd be default

I never drifted a car on McDonald's trays, but as a student i may have "borrowed" and "forgot" to return some, after an evening of autumnal sledding...as one of the guys i was with broke his arm, this is probably safer...

The expensive ones wouldn't work on a front wheel drive car (all the wear would be on one spot and wear holes in them) - and the cheap ones wouldn't work on a rear wheel drive, so I think it's safe to say that the DIY ones are just as good but for a different application!
