@@skylineXpert I'd say they are pretty close, especially considering that they don't have the BBC budget behind them to pay for expensive jokes. Also, they would get cancelled for 90% of the TG jokes.
1hp is about 750 watts Typically an in shape person will maintain around 350 watts for long distance, but you get cyclists that can put out over 1500 watts in short sprints. So Scott probably had about 0.5hp but on a bike you can get as much as 2.5
Cyclists measure power in watts. 1hp is around 740 watts. A gentle pace is around 100-150w, most fit cyclists can hold around 250w for an hour and pro racers ride an average of 400w. Sprinters can max out at over 2000w for a few seconds.
Oh wow those are actually really impressive numbers for a human being, I also once heard that a normal work horse can produce 8-10hp which would mean that some people really have a quarter or third of the strength of a fricking horse... big oof!!
@@jjmmjj9999 i meant 200 tons, and that was a guess, apparently it's alot closer to 150. but if it had 60.000 lb-ft of torque and only weighed 2tons , i'd be willing to bet on the train in a race lmao.
wow, i live in Southampton and its nice to see you guys in my local area plus the Isle of Wight and Portsmouth lmao, so cool its so weird seeing Scott cycle around places i know so well 😂
Trains are expensive and often late. Buses aren't bad, but British roads are often busy, which of course causes buses to be late outside of their control. I've never had issues with trams, but then I haven't used them much.
It's got to be Callum and Will, right? You can't have leg power and busses beating a car. And now that Callum has his racing license, how about a competition between he and Scott to see who can compete in the most races, at the most different locations, in one weekend? Travel and racing all in one.
Also, the bus Callum was on at the end goes straight to a border and has a stop at the finish line; he got off it early to keep the others in the race, presumably
As an Aussie, every time I watch content filmed in the UK, I feel like everyone just lives in areas like that ahha! Anyway, great film with classic top gear vibes. More of these challenges boys!
"We asked Audi for a press car, we were really surprised when they said yes!" not 5 minutes later "If you say anything remotely journalisty, you get punished" Uh... Lads... I now understand your surprise 🤣 Another excellent video though!
Excellent vid, even with an over powered car, hoon driving, scaring the passenger and, I strongly suspect, laws broken, endangering the public a bike and PT still faster. Imagine a bike fit person doing the same. Keep cars on the racing track and commute by the fastest urban transport is a win win for the masses and planet.
Looks like Scott needs some cycling coaching on road positioning 😉 Don't ride right on the edge, it encourages bad passes. Ride about 1m out so you have room to react if something is tooclose, it forces most drivers to move into the neighbouring lane and reduces the likelihood of them passing whilst an oncoming vehicle is there. And for any drivers who want to complain about being a cyclist: I own and drive a car, so vehicle taxes are paid. I have personal insurance. I ride with a light. I don't cut up traffic.
Country bus drivers are the best drivers on the planet, either that or they’re insane, always went close to the limit on the way to college in the sticks
You have to take more into the question when comparing modes. Car is definitelt a lot more expensive! Even if you save on petrol over our over-priced public transport the car has a lot of other costs: Insurance, emissions tax, MOT, parts and maintenance, parking and any tolls, congestion charges or speeding tickets you might get and replacing at the end of it's useful life. The costs of cars reach into other areas too- roads that are expensive to build and maintain that your emissions tax nowhere near covers, dead-space created by wide roads and car parks that would generate more revenue when used for literally anything else, physical health problems caused by breathing polluted air or living a sedentary life style and the increased stress traffic brings for everyone inside and outside a car wherever it exists. Public transit eliminates or vastly reduces all of those things making it an absolute win for public transport and bikes!
I can't tell you for the UK, but for Switzerland. A car like this will cost a minimum of CHF750 a month (Insurance, depreciation, gas, parking*). A one month train ticket (all trains, trams, buses, ships etc.) costs CHF355**. * Especially parking can get really expensive. E.g. if you have a job in the city, that can easily be CHF200 a month, just to have a parking where you work). If you are renting, you will be looking at CHF150+ for a parking space. Parking in Zurich for a day (Bahnhofparking) is CHF45/day. ** And there is also a possibility for reductions.

Tell us what you really think Scott... 😂
"I am god"
Love Scotts biking commentary😂
"They are suboptimal human beings." 😄
It might have gone a touch too far with his 'My backside is wet, and I am not wearing pants'. That was way beyond too much information.
So how close was it then? Feels like this episode ended very abruptly 😂
Scott after driving so many cars finally did some more excercise 😂💀.
Edit: thx for the likes!! Ur awesome!!
no way, it's the pijon

Sooo... does Scott actually have 1hp as in the thumbnail, 0.5hp as in the title or 0.2hp as Callum said in the intro?😂
1hp + 0,5hp + 0,2hp = 1,7hp got Scott ;)

Nah top tier cyclists can pull 400w+, person in shape more like 200-250w.

Boat vs Supercar, an entire lap around the Island of Ireland.. You guys vs Me…! You in?😂
First reply to Nico Leonard??
I love the Top Gear references
That Toto impression at 21:22 is so spot on!!! 😂😂😂
You got a thumbs up for the “No Micheal No it’s so not right” 😂
I bet Scott will somehow still manage to win 😂
edit: Well id be damned
“It just pulls like a train”
Has Callum ever seen a train start from a standstill?
I’ve seen a few go like a train. Always the best. Maybe by pull he means hair when a trains being run. Who knows.
It’s a figure of speech because of the great torque a train can put down.
A freight train can put down 60.000 lb-ft of torque, it just weighs 2 tons.
@@jam3106 s3 weighs 1500kg
so you're saying the train is just marginally slower than the S3?

Absolutely love the series and the channel, keep it up boys!
Damn scott really won😂 i was afraid that after all that he would get overtaken in the last mile😂
The Journalist Jar reminds me of that jar that James May had during one of his Alfa Romeo reviews.

Love the Giant bike, Scott.
2 things:
how close was it?
can you put scott and his bike on a dyno and see, 1. if it can measure his output and 2. if it can, how much?
Bike power is measured in watts. If Scott is a recreational cyclist, he's probably averaging about 150ish watts for his riding bits
One of my favorite videos by far
