The Psychology of Lelouch: The Man With The Plan (Code Geass Analysis)

  • Changing the world, it's a very abstract concept. What do people mean when they say this? What do they want to change? Do they want to make it better, or by our own morally/perception, worse?
    If one seeks to do this with evil intentions to achieve a peaceful outcome, is it even worth it? Are ends gained through contemptable means necessary?
    Who knows.
    In this video I will focus on one of my favourite characters of all time: Lelouch from Code Geass. A man who sought out to change the world through evil means.
    We breakdown his psychology to discern the sort of person he is and what he created along the way and how he went about all of this.

    Lelouch confronting his father was the most heart-wrenching moment for me, as a lot of truth was revealed and Suzaku, who was the main obstacle throughout the series, is now by his side. The next heart-wrenching moment is when we finally start to see what the end of lelouch’s plan was and the pain suzaku and C.C have to live with knowing the plan. Nunally’s final words to him and the realizations of everything he’s done. Almost broke me.0

    One thing I will say is that Lelouch did end up agreeing with Euphemia's idea and was going to help her until his Geass grew beyond his control. His disagreements with his father and older brother come from them having different ideals for what humanity itself wanted, but he couldn't bring himself to disagree with Euphemia's view

    A psychological concept that is very important to Lelouch: Schizoid Personality (Disorder)
    That was a really great video, doing one of the most impressive characters justice. You could argue that Lelouch was more bored and undriven before getting his Geass power, so that conscientiousness only formed once he saw a perspective to actually achieve his motivations.

    Lelouch is one of the most, if not the most amazing and popular fictional characters I've ever seen. He was actually able to overcome his creators' attempt to permanently dispose of him. (Code Geass recap movies+Lelouch of the Resurrection)
    The only other character I know of like that is Sherlock Holmes. Back in the 19th century England, people actually protested in the streets when Sir Arthur Conan Doyle killed off Holmes by having him fall to his death in a fight with his arch rival, Professor James Moriarty. Later, Doyle rewrote Holmes' death and had him miraculously survive while only Moriarty fell to his death by sticking his cane into the side of cliff.
    Now fast forward 100+ years and a guy like Lelouch comes along. Same concept still applies. Its dedicated fans that keeps their stories going lol...

    In conclusion, F SUZAKU. I’m joking hehehe... he pissed me off the entire series though. His naivety never ceases to amaze me, and in the end, he joined Lelouch anyway. I don’t know what it was going to take for him to realize that Brittania was too corrupt to change from the inside. In the end, he didn’t change anything. All he did was climb up the ranks, and become the man beside the emperor. If not for Lelouch and Zero, Brittania would have adopted the Ragnarok system that Charles wanted. (I don’t remember the details of the Ragnarok.😭 he was spouting nonsense)

    There is no such thing as a hero or a villain. There is only those who have their own objectives and they use the term of morals as a way to gain following. There is not a man alive who wouldn't do whatever they need to do to achieve the things that they want, things they believe in. Morals always change and with that fact there can't be a hero and therefore no villains can exist either. Just 2 people or groups who fight subjectively. That's it.

    • @SirLantzXD
      @SirLantzXD  Před 3 lety

      I agree fully, our morality is all a matter of perspective. A villian is a hero in another man's eyes.

    i loved your charecter breakdown lelouch very neatly done thank you!! and earned my sub and yes, after witnessing the shocking ending of code geass i immediatly remembered itachi uchiha, i like morally graey charecters who are the representative of complexity of human nature instead of black and white morality, i believe that everyone"s grey but its all boils down to logic of which nature outweights which black or white, good or evil and logically explains means justifies the end. reason in harmony with emotion thats the highest reality of life!! so, actions of lelouch and itachi can be explained by greek philosophy of consequentialism, in which the morality of an action is to be solely and only be judged on the consequences as results, hope i helped someone out there intrested in grey charecters lol
