Welsh international soccer player Robbie Savage phones a live radio call-in show. What follows is a heated lively debate between Robbie Savage and radio pundit and ex international Leighton James concerning current Wales manager John Toshack snubbing Savage returning to the Welsh squad.
In my opinion, fair play to Savage - he should have been reinstated to the squad. What do you think?

Leighton James comes across as a nasty bully. He clearly has an agenda and that was the reason Savage wasnt picked.
Or to flip that the presenter had an agenda against James who was supposed to be neutral.

I like Robbie savage. Always honest and respectful of his fellow professionals. Good sense of humour as well. Doesn't take himself too seriously.
As a player John Toshack was excellent alongside Keegan for Liverpool, but as a man, he just can't be trusted. He should get the Jackanory job, he's made for it 👍
Robbie Savage was a better player than he gets credit for.
Not the greatest fan of Savage being a Villa fan but James was talking out of his arse . One thing you can't have a go about Savage is he gave 100% can't be said about the majority of players

Leighton James would have had 12 pints before this interview. A drunk. A nasty drunk. Savage achieved so much more in the game.
Savage was right and honest, he was not the most gifted or talented.... but he gave 100%
He was poor and achieved nothing in his career yet had the nerve to criticise the likes of Terry a few years ago who played his entire career at the top level.. 😂 🤣

I agree with James Fletcher was better at retaining the ball and passing and at international football that's more important than at club level. A class pro as well unlike Robbie. I'm completely on Leighton James' side here.

Toshack was a relic from the 70's when managing Wales. He was a really good manager but he lived in the past.

Savage was definitely good enough for that squad. He would be picked for the current squad also if he was still playing. It's easy to forget that Savage was a really good player in his time. The amount of players Toshack fell out with really screwed up the national team.

He was my coach at Port Talbot FC back in 2004ish and he was a nasty person. Not personable, no advice, nothing. Just there for the money. Sad but true.

Leighton needs to get himself together. he has enough facts to out-talk Savage and he throw's a fit when he doesn't like what he's hearing
Savage was a solid player for his era the problem was their were a lot of other top level players around him and that came up with him at youth level. He also knew hwo to get stuck in which some players hated.
He was a legend at my club Birmingham City,but lost my respect when he went to Blackburn making his family as an excuse.

Never lost against Villa in 6 games when he played for Blues. Shame really because he spoilt it all when he left Blues on bad terms. He'd still be really well thought of otherwise.

Robbie & Leighton are both Legends !! but of a differant era, they both played football at the highest level for both club or country and are very passionate welshmen, proud about everything welsh. i have nothing but total respect for both robbie & leighton, even the best have disagreements, lol well done both for yor contribution to football, thank you very much, cheers !!

In his prime, Leighton James was the best winger in Europe. If he'd been English he'd have walked into the England team. But he does come over as a bit dogmatic.
