I really do enjoy your videos. Often times, whenever I find myself in a rut, I come to your videos to get some perspective, and I always end up feeling more at peace afterwards. I've seen you comment on Tiny Notes From Home and other places. :) I really enjoy that family too. I like to sing along to their songs for worship. The enemy has attacked my family and my husband's for a very long time, because we have a lot of promise. God has really been helping me pick myself up through watching your channel and others. I can't wait till I am transformed into the person that God always made me out to be. Constant prayer helps me so much.

I love to hear this! What a kind thing to say. And anytime I can encourage and uplift a sister in Christ and point her to the Cross, then I'm thrilled! Hang in there sister, I know the enemy wants to discourage, but stand strong. :) Much Love, Joy

Doctrine is the foundation of our faith... I love that Nancy does not shy away from this truth. Going through the Bible chronologically helps give perspective, especially to someone young in their faith. It really allows the reader how to follow along God’s pursuit of man through the Old Testament and showing humanity’s need for a Savior. Then to introduce the Messiah in the New Testament as the ultimate cure for sin to make it personal. This has tremendously helped me with understanding doctrine. A great resource to get a birds eye view of each book of the Bible is a Topical text book called “Talk Thru the Bible” I refer to this often whether I am doing a book or character study.

I'm so glad that Nancie emphasized the importance of sound doctrine at the beginning of this study. This foundation is crucial in order for us to fulfill the potential of who God purposes us to be. Her questions at the end of the chapter are wonderful and really help me evaluate how I am doing as a Titus 2 woman.

A red flag when looking for a older woman as a mentor could be gossiping. I always try to remember- if someone gossips to you, they will probably gossip about you. It's not just about the possibility of a breach in confidentiality, but more so about a woman being mature enough to control her tongue. I'm feeling convicted about Paul's admonition not to slander. I looked up the definition of slander and it says basically that this is speaking lies or evil about a person in order to damage their reputation or cause someone to think less of them. This is a tough one for me because I feel like it's a little grey. What if something is true, but negative. Should we not speak of it? Is there a time when we should speak negatively about another person? A counselor once told me that I could say to those who would gossip to me, "we have a rule in our home and lives that I need to model for my children. We don't speak negatively about another person when they are not in the room to defend themselves." Boy, that would really limit a conversation. Maybe that is a good thing considering Proverbs 10:19. I like the New Living Translation for this- "Too much talk leads to sin. Be sensible and keep your mouth shut." ; )

Christina Stone I agree on the red flag! This is well-said.
If I’m ever unsure if it’s something that okay to say, I try to err on the side of not saying it- better that than the alternative.
But I definitely understand the complex nature of the whole topic! I have many of these similar questions on gossip, too.

I love to journal! I feel like God truly speaks to me while I am journaling; whether it be writing prayers or just what is on my heart. I usually will read scripture and then meditate on it through journaling. Love these videos and this community you have created, Joy! God bless!

    Yass to shaken doctrine!

I was praying for you all week! This chapter was very convicting. I really loved the question about where we get our doctrines from. I am currently re-evaluating all the beliefs I've "picked up" so I can put down the ones that are not backed by God's Word. For digging deeper, I am going to start the SOAP journaling method. I've been reading a lot about it and I feel like it'll help me break through most of the head knowledge and get me more into the heart knowledge. Thank you Joy for all you do! You and your ministry are in my prayer book; it is so inspiring to see the community you are building!

After experiencing a very severe but thankfully treatable health crisis this past fortnight, I realised that I was woefully unable to draw on scripture passages. I have remedied that by writing three particular verses on index cards and I am aiming to have them memorised at some point! In addition I have begun reading my pocket bible and taking it with me wherever I go, so much so that whilst waiting in the doctor's waiting room yesterday, a lady noticed and shared that she too was a Christian:-). That moment was such an encouragement to me and a real gift from God. I have also been listening to the revive our hearts podcast and Linda Barrick and her daughter Jen were on this week. There story of recovery from a traffic accident that should have wiped out the entire family, was such a witness to God's love and faithfulness. They have a website called hopeoutloud.com. So as a result of finding your channel I have been blessed in so many ways ❤️
