Thanks for the video man, helped me make my decision. I ended up ordering an M15 R4 OLED. I could'nt find many reviews on this, and your decision helped mine!
It is a shame there a not many videos about these exotics of computers. These are like those rare hyper cars that you rarely find and are fast as hell. I bought the M17 R3 i9 2080 Super and man this thing is faster and give me better fps on Warzone than some of my friends desktops with 2060 and 2070 full size cards, that's just INSANE on something this thin and light.
Thanks for the video my man! I was going to do what you did but you just went thru all the trouble for me so now I’m just going to order the oled and shut the door. No more indecision because you already decided for me. Thanks again bro....Tri Pham , San Jose CA
I took the 144Hz with G-Sync Display... And I am very very happy with that! I can use my m15 R3 for gaming with all the power and also use it on battery for solid 6 hours to browse internet, watch videos or send emails, since I have the Optimus function.
Both awesome but I was sold on the crazy 300hz frame rate. So smooth. My take on it was, if I decide to I can always go with an external monitor. Can't loose with either
Hey dude. I just wanted to lookup this video again and thank you. I was on the fence about the 4k screen. Got an i9 Alienware with the 2080 GPU from Dell outlet. It was originally $3,700 new but I took your advice and got it down to $2,450 after an hour with chat support! Thank you for this very helpful video
@DADTech 2.0 I'm torn between the 4k & 300Hz panel. I went with the 300Hz panel but am not happy with the glare it has. (Whites are way too bright). Can you please tell me if the graphics/fonts get blurry if you play games at 1080p or 1440p on the laptop screen? I'm considering returning the 300hz one to get the model with 4K screen as OLED screens are much easier on the eyes for me.
While playing Shadow of the Tomb Raider, I confirmed fonts do not get blurry when changing resolutions. That’s the only game I tested so I’d assume it would differ from game to game. As long as you can deal with less FPS, you will not be disappointed.
I’ll be honest, 17% is the best you’ll get right now. This is the second time they’ve run this special (the first time was Intel Gamer Days) and that’s what got me to consider the m15 in the first place. Don’t think I would’ve purchased at full price. Way overpriced compared the competition.
How was their sale last Black Friday/cyber Monday? Let’s not forget with the rtx 30 series hopefully making its way to laptop that may play a role but not until it is officially announces
Can you please tell me how’s the battery life on OLED version. Some reviewers say around 5 hours and some say only 2 hours I almost want to buy it but battery life is must for me
Shaurya Nain Technically both are true. It just depends on how bright you keep the screen. It’s 400+nits so it gets extremely bright which sucks the battery dry. Also, using Alienware Command Center to change the GPU/CPU profile can also help extent the battery. I like to keep my screen bright so I’m at the lower end.
DADTech 2.0 Thing is my main priority is not gaming and I only play rpg and story driven games so I want a good rich display. Higher refresh rates one only have 300 peak brightness and not so good to look at So finally it comes down to battery if OLED can last me around 5 hour mark (with 200 nits ) I would buy it If not than I would go for 144hz one because everyone says that it has good battery life. So please can you help me out?
@Anime Sayian I wasn’t able to confirm battery life of OLED so I decided to go with XPS 15 9500. It’s decent enough for some rpg and really good battery life.
@@abhinandvb7843 crap, you will get 2 hours if your lucky. Haven't tried setting hz to 60 and running UHD though maybe that will double the life I did hear it can run for 5
So if I buy the 4K laptop (60hz) and buy an external monitor I can play at like 240hz??? I’m slight confused. I need a laptop that can photo edit, video edit but can also play games. & I’m ok with lowering “the gaming experience” down to 1080p, as long it’s smooth. 7:00 ^^ I’ve checked many forums and some say having an external monitor would help the HZ and others say it would stay at 60. +sub, please reply.
I can confirm the FPS will go up once connected to an external monitor. Whether it hits 240 or not will depend on the graphics card/cpu combination and of course the game itself.
The max q version is designed so that it consumes lower wattage and run at lower temperatures. This can impact on the performance compared to a super or "max p" which takes full advantage of the graphics card but consumes much more battery and can get very hot
I agree with Diego T. Performance isn’t on par with a Max P and it can be confusing as for some product listings, you have to do some digging to find out if it’s Max Q or Max P.
@@ProTechShawn I just got the m15 r4 4K OLED for most activities, with an external 20" 1080p 144Hz monitor for high fps gaming. Hoping that was the right move..

@@greyalien826 Not sure your just gonna have to wait and see but the laptop 3000 series gpus are no where near their desktop counterparts. They have less vram and they have severe power limitations in laptops.
@@greyalien826 Not sure maybe. I wouldn't get the 4k. Especially on such a small screen it's pretty much not worth it.Your limiting the performance of your gpu by getting 4k oled. Yeah it's brighter and more color accurate but it won't be as smooth as the 300hz.

Does the OLED one have MUX switch & Optimus mode?
How many hours does it last in Optimus?

Can I use the oled screen as a trader? I have static graphs for more that 6 7 hours a day.
I wouldn't recommend OLED for any work that involves static screens for extended periods of time.
Is it possible to downscale the resolution on the OLED-model for more fps, maybe ingame?
It will never go higher than the max 60fps of the main display. Unless you connect it to an external display with higher refresh rates.

Perfomance difference....
2070 Super has the best perfomance, followed by 2070 super max q then lastly 2070.
for heavy gaming get the 300HZ?
For heavily played, highly competitive, FPS games you may have a slight advantage because of the smoothness of the framerate.
