It's a Gaming laptop . It should have that much, coz its performance is way higher than needed for normal office uses or other purposes. But even I think it's better to buy a console

That's why I love this channel. Very calming vibe, nice to listen to and gain new information. I watched this review on my Alienware M15 R3, didn't understand a tech thing he said, but still enjoyed learning about this device. I will second the flex asthetic on other laptops but I can't take this thing to uni because I need to keep it plugged in as the juice runs out so quick (just general study work). They failed to tell me about gaming laptop batteries when I bought it...

You just hit the nail at it's head. They're probably taking note while watching this video. And he's doing for them what some companies pay tons of money to some people to do
If you're talking about changing intel chip to AMD .... I don't think they can do that. I heard somewhere that big companies signed contracts with intel to use their products and they probably get it for the low. intel is fine, just automatically brings up the price for any system.

I guarantee you they're all aware of their issues before Dave even says a word. Trust me when a company makes products with flaws it's not because they don't know. They have to make hard decisions based on limited resources or time or whatever else is happening behind the scenes.

FR get a GF 65 with an rtx 2060 for $1,000. Or hell maybe a acer nitro 5. For $650. I feel u gaming labtops are way over priced and it sucks cause they would sell way more if they weren't greedy.
I bought an Alienware 17 R5 for 300$ with an CPU failure. Previous owner tought it was fried cause he smelled burnt. I still took the chance and open it myself and found a burnt mosfet which is repairable. Now it's running again. I manage to undervolted it to -0.200mw @ 3.8ghz which is cpu lottery winner. Now running at 70c instead of 99c.
Brad Beyers just build a pc for 500-600$ with AMD entering in the market very well, especially for Asian buyers, it’s difficult as due to tax, so I changed my Alienware 13 to Gigabyte Aero 15..maybe next switch I’m planning on building a PC..

How is it running? Are the thermals fine? I’ve heard a lot about feeling the heat go to your hands on the side lol
I absolutely love my 2020 m17. It does get reallllllly hot, but I decided to just disable turbo(using throttle stop) on the cpu and that keeps temps much lower. I agree they should just have some ryzens in the mix because it's still too hot. You really have to tweak it too much.
I didn't know that the motherboard was reversed! Thank you for showing that. I haven't taken it apart yet, but I will do a repaste at some point with some Kryonaut. Awesome video Dave!

Great review Dave. I have been using the R2 for roughly 8 months now and love it. If I could go back only thing I would change is from 500gb hard drive to 1TB as Call of Duty is about 250gb on its own.

Just got my R3 the other day, i'm loving it! I will say though I agree with you on wishing they used AMD chips instead of Intel, but regardless, they did a great job on this machine. Thoroughly impressed, runs better than my Alienware desktop lol.

I bought the R2 in december 2019. It have much power, however it runs hot if I play high demanding cpu games like Odyssey and specially with the summer temperatures.
How's the laptop now? I got a Razer laptop last year around November and it lasted like 6 months then started thermal throttling.
I wanted the laptop so bad last year, but this ones even better, I’ll save up for this years then!
