    This gaming notebook is one of the fastest I have tested. Let me know what you think of the Alienware? Do you think this model is worth the premium?

      First person I've see that has the black one instead of the white one. Bought one myself but not the same specs at all. Got the i7 144hz G-sync 16 GB RTX 2070 1 TB SSD (Single, no Raid0).
      Note: Personally I don't really find very high end to be worth it (Such as 2080 Max-Q, 32 GBs Ram, and 300 hz)
      Ofc with more laptops I always recommend lifting it up with something (Such as a stand or even better, one of those cooling pads for just a little more cooling)
      I haven't received mines but question: Did you find the need to undervolt to control the temperatures? Although seems like they made it easy to undervolt so I guess my question is already half answered. Probably gonna undervolt it anyways...

      @@CETechTips I see. Yea I was looking around the Command Center seems like they limited the therms to 87 degrees but correct me if I'm wrong there. I haven't seen the temperatures get out of hand on mines. But maybe when I start running higher end games it'll start having issues. A note you might wanna leave for some people is that the RGB has this really weird things where certain games screws it over completely due to this extra function that's default on which is the AlienwareFX API in the command center. Had huge issues with it yesterday and took me a decent time to realize it was a setting and not something wrong with the actual computer itself (or the command center program)

      Thanks! It is not that bad, it may affect longevity but for the gaming sessions that you do on it I doubt it will be noticable. I think with the Asus G-series it's probably gonna be a pretty big money sink for a decent good device. I don't know about the G17 I can only imagine it's pretty damn expensive being a 17 inch laptop. My brother got the G14 for roughly 1.8k.
      The best thing about the Asus laptops are ofc they have those AMD CPU's so you really wanna consider that. It tremendously helps cooling and AMD CPU's are, in my opinion, outside of single task things vastly superior to Intels.

    • @linjix
      @linjix Před 3 lety

      @@mastersanada In my opinion AMD are starting to crack the mold that they trapped themselves in with their past useless and bullshit cards but i won't say that amd is superior to intel as amd cards cant be paired up with a high end gpu card or it will get fried so intel is still superior

    • @mastersanada
      @mastersanada Před 3 lety

    Hey there! Great video btw and review. I’ve just bought one of these myself, different specs. I’m new to computer technology as this is the first price of pc hardware I’m going to ever own, but I’ve been watching a lot of videos such as these and learning along the way. U said that there’s an option to undervolt in the AWCC, and I see there is a voltage offset. Most people use throttle stop or xtu and when I see people talking about undervolting they use values ending in just V. However in the command centre it says mv or nv from what I saw on screen. So is the ability to undervolt limited im assuming? Smaller values? And also with the whole tenth gen intel chips having the inability to undervolt via these softwares, I saw someone saying that lowering the ghz from like 4 to 2.6 for example will reduce performance but it will also help with temps... is this true? And i did see in the AWCC there was an ability to do this but only down to 4 GHz in ur case so is there anyway to lower it more? Sorry for this being long but one more thing I just have on my mind. The middle bar showed volts or wattage I can’t remember off the top of my head now writing this, but it had values like 1.1 1.2 etc. What does this value actually do in terms of the effects on the laptop while in use? Thanks for your time and I’d appreciate the help.

    • @CETechTips
      @CETechTips  Před 3 lety +2

      Thanks for watching and the question. So the mv is a 1/1000 of a V. The bottom part is offset of the top, so negative of the value. The top is volts, but larger increments. The lower the voltage the cooler the cpu. Now there is a limit, you know when you hit if you get into instability. So be cautious and go slow if you attempt it. I would do this in 10mv increments, bottom part. Some applications will stress the system differently too. So have patience. Sense you have the HK CPU they are unlocked. There is more flexibility with that chip. The post you read is correct, lower the frequency will reduce the power and therefor the temps at the expense of performance. I am about maximum performance, so depends on what you are trying to accomplish. Hope that helps!

    I'm thinking this might be the machine to go with. I'm leaning toward the 4K panel but am I correct that Dark Side of the Moon grey finish isn't available with the 4K panel option? ie i4K only comes in Lunar Light? My biggest issue with these new Alienware laptops is you can not add or replace the memory, It is soldered in. So if you want to replace the 2666 mhz with 3200mhz or if you make the assumption that the 16gbs of memory is fine for now and you can just add more later, you are mistaken. Most laptops companies allow you to swap memory but not Dell. They are turning into Apple. Eventually they won't allow you to upgrade or add more storage, which thankfully they still allow on these. Don't get me wrong this is a beast of a laptop but for that amount of money I should be able to buy a base model with my preferred video card and CPU and then add the storage and memory I want.

    It wasn't said in the video buy I think it's important to note that because the 300hz screen doesn't support Optimus, it is constantly running off the RTX GPU which kills the battery life. The 144hz with G-Sync supports using the integrated GPU when not gaming which gets much longer screen time. I've agonized about this decision because I wanted the 32GB RAM but that configuration only comes with either the 300hz or the OLED monitor, neither of which I wanted. In the end, I went with a 16GB RAM to get the 144hz screen that could be run off the internal GPU.
