    What a devastating story of alcoholism, existentialism, industry drama, economic strife, and aging. The thought of the man abusing himself so badly, wandering the streets and taking pity on the poorest of merchants, was moving―but when at *8:24* he talks about possibly not seeing his daughter grow even to adolescence before his death, I began to cry. @khfan4life365 Před 3 lety +35

    • @kmaple9
      @kmaple9 Před 3 lety +9

      That doesn't make sense though. It was dug up and it crosses oceans to reach the location? Obviously its family would be buried to where it was buried.
      Unless the movie was going to bring Pangea into this, but then the dinosaur shouldn't know how the continent split up like that
      Also, I doubt the writer was going to just not bring up why it's moving around after bringing up that all the humans are wondering why it's moving around. Otherwise, it's just poor writing. (Then again, he did write some bs about how everyone knows instinctively that this random fossil that came to life is going to end the world somehow)
      Though, how the hell a T-rex is going to cross oceans... that's a question in and of itself. Is it just going to go down to the seabed and cross over the course of months? Also, Giant Pokemon were established at this point, and there are pokemon the size of buildings in the first place. The largest T-rex can't compare to a skyscraper, which a giant Tentacruel compares to in size based on a famous scene.
      Honestly, I feel for this guy but the movie sounds terrible

    • @SilverScarletSpider
      @SilverScarletSpider Před 3 lety +24

      @@kmaple9 It’s possible that the dinosaur got displaced/lost from its colony while on a hunt or in a bad storm. T Rex goes out to hunt but then a meteor strikes, darkening the skies and with mysterious creatures coming out from the space rocks. The other dinosaur’s days were numbered but they barely knew that. The main T Rex is heart broken to be alive again, but while it’s here, it wants to be able to finally find peace and be buried and surrounded by its loved ones. A single tear sheds from the skull’s eyes and the Pokemon and trainers finally stop attacking the pained T Rex before what is supposed to be a final climax showdown. Mewtwo uses his powerful telepathy to put down the T Rex. The fossil creature did not want to hurt the humans and pokémon necessarily, he just wanted to fulfill the promise it gave to its children, (the baby dinosaurs that died millions of years before he did). The promise the T. rex gave to his children was “to always be by their side protecting them.” Unfortunately, “protecting them” was something that it never could have done millions of years ago after getting disoriented and killed by the meteor all those millions of years ago.
      (This is all just my own theory and personal headcanon of the script using the details shared from this video).
      The film would definitely have been very somber like a Studio Ghibli film and the success of a story like this in a lighthearted franchise like Pokémon may not have been guaranteed.

    • @RioluX195
      @RioluX195 Před 3 lety +3

      To add to this discussion can I say both types of movies have their own merits that would make them interesting. With the reanimated dinosaur skeleton there is a mystery to it, what brought it to life and what is this life that now moves it? Is it the ancient soul of the dino that once lived or is it something else entirely.
      While the thing about the sentient car movie is, who cares how or why it came to life. This is literally what most sentient car movies do like Herbie for example. It doesn't matter how or why its not alive it matters more as to what it will do with this new sentience? How does it feel about being alive now? How does it cope? How do others cope with it?
      Personally they both have their merits that garner interest but as time has shown a sentient car is something people love which is why it got multiple movies and a series plus a return in the more modern day. Herbie is one of my favorite live action Disney films of the Golden Era and even though Fully Loaded wasn't received too greatly in the end I still enjoyed it if for anything the pure nostalgia. also @Michaela Worsley Fully Loaded is not a reboot. In the shed they find Herbie it shows stuff from his many adventures in all the old movies and the note Lindsey Lohan finds is from the original owner of Herbie -Dick Van Dyke- sorry I meant Dean Jones. I was getting my movies confused thinking of Mary Poppins apparently lol

    It sounds like the script was inspired by his own feelings of hopelessness and feeling disconnected from the world as he got older and things kept going wrong. I wonder if the visual of dinosaur bones only held together by the will to keep walking towards somewhere unknown was how he felt as someone so depressed and dependant on drugs and alcohol to keep going, unsure if things would ever get better no matter how far he went?
    This video made me want to cry, thank you so much for telling us Shudo's story. I wish he'd been able to get the help he needed to escape his downward spiral before it claimed his life. I hope that wherever his spirit went, it's somewhere happy.
    I think maybe the ending to the dinosaur story should have been something like that too. Maybe it finally reaches the place it remembered and finds it changed so much its unrecogniseable, but it also finds a new happiness there that revives its will to live, gives it a reason to keep going that isn't just feeling like everything is already doomed and the only hope is that memory of the past. Maybe they find another fossil of a baby dinosaur in the ruins of the dinosaur's old home, and revive it too and the old dinosaur finds new hope through its child? Like how Shudo dedicated the final movie to his daughter.

    It’s possible that the dinosaur got displaced/lost from its colony while on a hunt or in a bad storm. The promise the T. rex gave to his children was “to always be by their side protecting them.” Unfortunately, “protecting them” something that it never could have done millions of years ago after getting disoriented and killed by the meteor all those millions of years ago.
    (This is all just my own theory and personal headcanon of the script using the details shared from this video).
    The film would definitely have been very somber like a Studio Ghibli film and the success of a story like this in a lighthearted franchise like Pokémon may not have been guaranteed.

    I don't like the retcons that regular animals don't exist. There used to be a lot of evidence that normal animals existed alongside Pokémon, and some Pokémon even evolved from animals. Also, the Pokémon world was supposed to be our world, with regular countries like France existing, not just regions like Kalos that are based on them. A lot of that early lore doesn't make sense anymore, but I miss it.

      Pretty sure Pokemon simply adapted and evolved in ways that normal animals couldn't, and they all went extinct. Seriously, how can you compete against creatures that literally can only die via dismemberment (and even that's unreliable in some cases) or very old age? Animals were on their way out in Gen 1, and completely died out by Gen 2. That doesn't really explain cats or dogs tbh, but maybe an animal version of the bubonic plague happened, who knows? I mean, think about it, why would Pikachu be called an "electric mouse" if people don't know what a mouse is? The Pokédex in gen 1 made a lot of mentions of how Pokémon evolved too, and it's usually a slow process over time (Darwinian evolution) or due to a sudden change in their environment. It's not just a flash of light when they battle (that's just a game mechanic, not the in-universe lore).

Shudo (or a stand-in Writer) inserts himself into the narrative and reveals to Ash and the other characters that they themselves are fictional. The Writer would then begin to pen a tragic ending, but Ash pleads with him to stop. Ash then goes against what is written and stops the fossil to save everyone.
