- Hello and welcome to another season of MSH here on CZcams.
VIDEO no. 6
Royal Mail Ship Titanic in 1/400 scale
This is a first video in the series featuring Airfix R.M.S. Titanic in 1/400 scale with a ton of upgrades to the base model. It will be my first time taking on such a project and I am both scared and excited. The aim for this build is to finish it by the end of April 2023 because I want to show of this model at a SVM model show in May 2023. The reason for my second attempt at his Titanic is because I was not satisfied with the Revells model in the same scale. That model was just to old and it showed on every step of the way.
I will list a parts list below, if you want to follow along with me:
- Airfix A50146A R.M.S. Titanic 1/400
- Flyhawk FH400001 R.M.S. Titanic upgraded kit
- Master SM-400-004 Titanic mast set
- Trumpeter 06624 Brass chains
- Peddinghaus - Decals R.M.S. Titanic 1/400
- Vallejo 71.646 Titanic color set
- Additional paints:
1) TAMIYA X1, X18, XF1, X22, XF86, XF53 (for roofs)
2) AK interactive RC501, RC003 (main white color), RC050 (deck machinery), AK11100 (inner deck color "orange"), AK472 Gold (for ship screws and tops of deck tiedowns).
Other items that appear in the video:
Tamiya fine surface primer
VMS Flexy 5K CA
VMS TRANSPA FIX 6K (for transparent parts)

Best 1/400 scale that I’ve ever saw. The most promising one yet.
Amazing.....what a delicate piece of wok, but the outcome is brilliant!
Thanks 😊
Really cool 👍
Part 4 please!!!
Hello 3Aisak. I do apologise for not uploadig for some time now. I intend to post 4 and 5 but I have not tuched this model for almost 6 months now. It's a bit more finished than you see on the video, but not much more. This year has been very challengin for me, so I did not find the proper motivation to contunue. Thanks for your comment and I hope I can finish early next year.
Don't worry, I understand you perfectly. I've had him stopped since March, and the same thing happens to me. I hope to resume during the Christmas holidays, because I really want to, and I have created some pieces with a 3D printer, but I need time. Thanks for answering, very grateful. A hug!
I have glued all the decks together, including the side white superstructure parts A1 and A2 but I would like some advise how to assemble to the hull, as my topside appears to be to wide to fit into the hull.
Any advise would be appreciated
Great videos by the way only viewed part 1-3 so far
Great work! Well done!!!
I guess you would not add lights ?
Hello @cinefeelbg 👋 😀 Thanks 😊 No I will not be adding lights. I was thinking about it, but I decided not to go through with it. The reason is simple. This build is the most complex build I am doing to this date, and adding lights is a nother level. It's not just adding a led strip in the hull of the boat and call it a day. Because I wanted the lights to shine equally trouh all the ships potholes and windows. And that requires a lot of additional work. Maybe some other build and time ;) I will just be happy if the entire ship turns out as I imagined it would :D
@@Mysmallhobby thank you for your answer! Yeah, I know what you mean. At first I thought, well there are the holes, the lights will lit through them :) But... It will be not the same if I use in example fiber optic or Kristal Klear :). There are steps, especially in the building of this ship, that can`t be ignored if the person wants accurate model :) All the best and good luck with the building!!! :)
@@eightyonebg exactly:) 😊
I think that of all the models of the titanic 1/400 from the academy that I have seen, you are the one who will have succeeded in making it the most faithful, however I think you forgot to paint the 2 hatches in black on the aft well deck and I don't know if it's included in the kit but at the railings at the end of the stern there is normally an anchor attached to the railings next to the flag pole, I can't wait to see what your benches looked like on most representations of the titanic the frames were painted black and the boards dark brown I thought for a long time that the frames were wrought iron and the boards were wooden but in your book and in the titanic honor and glory games they are completely in bronze and those that were photographed on the wreck are still there so it must have been made in bronze like the propellers to resist corrosion.
👋 yes, the anchor is missing. It's also missing in the front. I will have to nick it from my Revell Titanic if I remember. As for the benches, my referenc photos have a brass frame and light brown wood. But black is also good. I am taking certain liberties on some sections. 😀
Would it be okay to use this fly hawk kit on a 1/350 titanic? Unfortunately they don’t make the kit for it. Please let me know thanks maybe some things like captans all look the same size
Hello ArtbyRam 👋 Well, the difference is miniscule but would be notsable ob the wooden decks crains boom arms and the length of the fences. You can get separate peaces from aliexpress.
@@Mysmallhobby you’ve done an amazing work mate, unfortunately I haven’t been able to find the brass capstans or Ballards for the 1/350 minicraft I have 😞
I have just purchased the Airfix 1:400 RMS TITANIC watching your videos with interest can you please tell me where do you purchase the modification/expansion kits demonstrated in your videos ?
Hello. The main modification kit was bought at MBK Germany www.modellbau-koenig.de/en The two masts are from Master directly.
Thanks for this info appreciated
I think we can call part 5 severely overdue now?? 😳
Hello, yes, we can. I have the ship on hold due to some personal reans. I do apologise 😔 I will explain in the video.
6:13 what is white mask ?
Hi this is very thin styrine stip.
Quick question, do they have a modification kit to turn titanic into Britannic?
Uh. That's a good one. Honestly, I don't know. Maybe. But I think that the mod for the Britanic isn't that difficult to pull off.
great job , but I notice an error , at 19,19 , in the middle of the image the two white pieces , I think two ventilator or , in french ," aerateur "😄; aren't at this place in the book , that I have too, "recreating titanic" , on page 62 and 66; in all my documents , no ventilator ;I ever notice this error in the models from airfix and academy ; the same error at the same place ; for example ventilators in the wrong direction ;they must be fixed in the back direction , logical. ; I notice others errors like benches at the wrong place ; for finish can you say me how find the pieces from flyhawk ; they are great 😎👍; thanks; sorry for my bad english , I me a poor french guy 😄
Hello Pascal. Yes, I am aware of the error:) Unfortunately, I was not able to doo anything about it because I have already made holes as per the instructions. :/ So that's that. As for the vents on the deck, the orientation of them can be random since they can be turned into the wind to funnel fresh air into the decks below. They were manually turned by the crew I beleive. You can buy the flyhawk set at www.delko.si . As for the individual beaches, aliexpress.
Thanks for your comment 👍 😀
What is the height of the model under floor c
Hello. Sorry for the late reply. The height in my approximatation is around 1 cm.
Can I also ask what is the height of the entire model?@@Mysmallhobby
@Jad-qd7hw From the keel to the top of the mast aprox. 20cm - 21cm. Note that the masts from Master are a bit shorter than the ones you get in the kit.
thank you brother
no part 4?
Hello 😀yes there will be part 4 and probably part 5 😀 I just took some time off this project.
@@Mysmallhobby been three weeks tho
@keith7367 Hello. Yes, I do apologise for the delay. I have been sidetracked by a nother matter, and I am going to be changing jobs soon, so the Titanic is on hold for the summer. I plan to release part 4 in the second half of September, and a final video 5 in by the end of October. I intended to make a video on this topic this month.
@@Mysmallhobby been four weeks now xD
