Royal Mail Ship Titanic in 1/400 scale
This is a first video in the series featuring Airfix R.M.S. Titanic in 1/400 scale with a ton of upgrades to the base model. It will be my first time taking on such a project and I am both scared and excited. The aim for this build is to finish it by the end of April 2023 because I want to show of this model at a SVM model show in May 2023. The reason for my second attempt at his Titanic is because I was not satisfied with the Revells model in the same scale. That model was just to old and it showed on every step of the way.
I will list a parts list below, if you want to follow along with me:

- Flyhawk FH400001 R.M.S. Titanic upgraded kit
- Master SM-400-004 Titanic mast set
- Trumpeter 06624 Brass chains
- Peddinghaus - Decals R.M.S. Titanic 1/400
- Vallejo 71.646 Titanic color set

1) TAMIYA X1, X18, XF1, X22, XF86, XF53 (for roofs)
2) AK interactive RC501, RC003 (main white color), RC050 (deck machinery), AK11100 (inner deck color "orange"), AK472 Gold (for ship screws and tops of deck tiedowns).

@@Mysmallhobby I have the same set waiting to be built with the Flyhawk detail-up set and masters mast. You have no idea how much you're helping me and many others who have these detail-up sets. Since this is basically the ideal tutorial on how to mod the Airfix kit. I will grab the materials like that wood glue to plaster those balsa veneers and airbrush the machine-works than paint brushing them.
@0311uli You and all are very much welcome :😀 I do have to say one thing now that I am halfway on my build... Even Flyhawk has limitations and, above all, very poor manual. You really need to pay close attention to the model and all the steps. I will do my best to show all the hidden tricks in my upcoming videos :)
@@Mysmallhobby Oh I agree that blasted manual whatever that thing is truly lacking lmao! It's a headache to study to be honest. Looking forward to ur tips and tricks video. At the moment I'm doing a 1/700 Revell Titanic to Britannic mod, but when I need some time to rest. I go to the 1/400 and mod some details here and there. Doing all these mods and preparations so when I finally get to it, it's just a prime, paint, and cement affair.
Wooow your build is so accurate. I just started the academy one, that is the same, and bought the same upgrades for it. I can't wait for part 3. Good job!

Hello. I have Flyhawk expansion set for Titatinc in 1/400 scale. It's for Academy and Airfix Titanic. I bought mine via MBK Germany. But I have seen wooden decks on Amazon for this ship.

Hi. I made this piece myself. But later I did find a pe part in the FH expansion pack.
j'ai commencé ce modèle il y a quelques jours; plutot réussi meme si il y a plusieurs erreurs , que l'on retrouve dans le modèle équivalent chez Academy; des pièces comme des aérateurs dans le mauvais sens; la sortie des aérateurs doit etre vers l'arrière du navire , une autre erreur ; les deux pièces à l'arrière du navire des deux cotés des écoutilles n'ont rien à faire là , il faut soit les décoller soit ne pas les mettre ; un autre problème la couleur des cheminée , la peinture fournie ne vas pas du tout , j'ai mis le gloss 7 de chez humbrol qui va super au niveau de la teinte , je vais juste mettre un peu de vernis mat pour diminuer la brillance , par contre ce que j'aime bien sur ce modèle est que les bancs sont à part , ça permet de les améliorer

HI. excellent building!! did you mix the light brown with a little orange? on mine it comes out too dark, and it's the exact same color (AK 11100) thanks!
No I did not mix the paint. It's right out the bottle.
@@Mysmallhobby Thanks for the reply! 2 more questions: is the color of the masts the same light brown/orange? and with what did you recreate the cover plate at minute 38:42? with what material? Thank you!
@Interismomerdawjuve hi:) The cover plate was made from styrine rectangle beams. How ever in the end I found this cover as a part of pe parts in the flyhawk expansion pack. The beems are the same color according to my pictures.
@@Mysmallhobby ok, then I have to look better in my Flyhawk, since I have it too and I try (and I mean try 😂😂) to do everything more less like YOU did🙏🏼 So I'll take this opportunity now to ask you for the fourth and fifth part, you are my guide and you are building the most beautiful and accurate 1:400 Titanic on ALL CZcams!
