RMS Titanic - The Making Of

  • The RMS TITANIC is a wooden kit to assemble.
On 10 April 1912, the world's largest and most luxurious ocean liner, the Titanic, set sail on its maiden voyage from Southampton to New York.
It took the lives of 1,495 people and gave rise to the greatest legend in the history of maritime navigation. The Titanic did not have enough lifeboats for all passengers - only for about 1,200 people, but there were about 2,223 on board.
In the early morning of 15 April 1912, the Titanic collided with an iceberg off the coast of Newfoundland. The sinking of the Titanic was the largest peacetime shipwreck in the history of maritime navigation. 1,518 people died. Only 711 out of 2,223 people survived.
Myths and legends have been created around the fatal shipwreck, making the Titanic probably the most famous ship in history.
For many years, historians, treasure hunters, oceanographers and businessmen searched for the wreck. Finally, the remains of the ship were discovered on 1 September 1985 by Robert Ballard during a secret mission spearhead by the United States Navy. The wreck of the Titanic was located 3,784 metres deep, about 800 km off the coast of Canada.
The lights of the Titanic went out minutes before it disappeared into the Atlantic Ocean along with the dream of reaching New York.
This model took me around 4 and a half months to complete it. The total cost with the electrical components (leds ,resistors, wiring etc) was around 350 - 400 euros.
There are no schematics for the electrical circuit.
The music track are : Morning Mood by Grieg, Habanera by Bizet and William Tell Overture by Rossini.
This video has 2 sequential parts, the 1st one is a photo montage consist from over 700 photos of the entire build and the 2nd one is a video of the finished model.
    This Video comes in 4K.

Hi Normand!!! I am glad that i have inspired you to begin this beautiful hobby! Indeed the Santa Ana was and still is the most beautiful and also the hardest model i ever made. The Montanes is my number 2. The Santa Ana had a cost of 730 euros back in 2013 so you can understand the quality of materials and the level of detail. Unfortunately Artesania discontinued the model 2-3 years later. The model is not in production even with the new Artesania. So if it happen for you to find it somewhere ,buy it immediately. No i haven't used anything on the sails, i like the fabric as it is, i do not want to make it more yellow or stiffen it. Yes some of the ropes are hanging out, not stretched when the sails are folded. As you must know by now, i like my sails open. Why build a sails ship and have the sails folded? Yes the Endeavour was an English ship, they have their own beauty!
