Is the NEW 2020 Cadillac CT5-V a BETTER performance sedan than the Audi S4?

  • An ALL NEW V-series car its here! The 2020 CT5-V takes on a new philosophy from Cadillac. Instead of it being a direct replacement for the previous CTS-V it will not be a middle gap to a higher performance CT5 coming down the road. Under the hood is a 3.0L twin turbo that produces 360HP & mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. It's exterior features many V-series touches such as grill, Brembo brakes and wheels. On the inside you will find carbon fiber and a special V-series button for the active exhaust. Is the NEW 2020 Cadillac CT5-V a BETTER performance sedan than the Audi S4?

Finally, a Cadillac that is reasonably priced but not an obvious victim of GM's corporate bean counters! I'm impressed with the both the interior and exterior. Very well done, Cadillac.

@@challenger516 Tell that to the owners who have driven their Caddies to 200k miles and beyond. The only weak point in any recent Cadillac product would be carbon buildup in the motor (remedied with a $190 carbon cleaning service) and timing chains failing (which can be prevented with more frequent oil changes). Other than that it would just be wear and tear and how do I know this? I'm a Service Advisor at a GM dealership and when major failures occur on cars it's usually the owners who cause them.

They went back to the 1st and 2nd gen CTS formula. Priced like a 3 series but similarly sized like a 5 series. (their version of more car for the money) Only difference is that it has similar power to the 3 series. (so far) The older CTS had power similar to the 5 series. The CT5 is rumored to get the lt4, but I'll believe it when I see it.

This is what I want instead of a charger. I noticed this only the 2nd time you haven't zonked the gear panels so that's good. Also it has the hydraulic hood lever & the v series symbol is in the right place. Low head clearance sucks but it seems to be the only issue. Raiti - great review of the CT5-V...FIRST on the inter webs from an auto enthusiasts channel that I have seen! It’s unfortunate, but understandable that you couldn’t take this one for a drive, but I’m really looking forward to it...by all accounts, it’s a phenomenal driver’s car. Keep up the great reviews!
Also, I couldn’t agree with you MORE that the rear/taillights are one of the best design features. The rear was by FAR the biggest letdown on the CTS, and as much as I think the CT5 front looks better than the CTS, the rear is that much better...love everything about it (except that goofy c-pillar).
p.s. If Cadillac truly offers a manual in the 2021 model - V or V Max, it will be my next car. I love manuals and hope that the COVID-19 issue, which has already delayed the V Max reveal, doesn’t deep six any future models or offerings.

Raiti's Rides when you get to do the drive review of the CT5-V, can you provide a bit of commentary at the end on how it compares to the B9 S4 that you recently reviewed? That’s what I currently drive.

Looks amazing. And there’s a difference in the interior between this and it’s little brother unlike the bimmers🙄

At $48k, that's an absolute steal! However, that's basically where the V starts. This particular one doesn't have the options on it like the platinum and premium packages. Adding those and a nice wheel upgrade, I just built one on line for $66k. So, the majority of these you see will be more in the $60k range.

Joe when you first reviewed the car at the auto show, that unit had no sunroof/moonroof and you seemed totally happy with interior head room...for the full review, the unit you were in did have the sunroof which eats into the headroom quite a bit as your reaction confirmed, I guess the pro tip wud be for taller folks to not get that option

This is a very good choice for those of us who are tired of waiting (a year delayed at this point) for the new Acura TLX Type-S.
