- The NEW CT5-V has a bit of different performance twist from Cadillac. Normally this would be the top trim but it actually replaces the V Sport from the previous generation. On the outside you will find some V-series touches from the grill, wheels, brakes and rear bumper. On the inside you will be greeted to a full leather interior, sport steering wheel and 10in infotainment system. Under the hood is a 3.0L twin-turbo V6 that pumps out 360HP & is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Is the 2021 Cadillac CT5-V a BETTER sport sedan than a BMW M340i?

Summit White is the way to go on a CT5 Sport or CT5-V. It looks so sexy, classy, and certain angles it looks really Sporty especially with the black accents and beautifully blacked out grille.

I was thinking I didn't like the smaller size Cadillac but after your review and watching you drive the car I've crossed over and I like it. I was hoping I could fit about 10 of the full size Butterfinger candy bars in the door pockets but I can live without it.

As far as looks, I like the CT5 V, over the M340i, especially the Cadillac Grilles
what the m340i is way better its better sounding, faster, better handling and better comfort. The ct5-v is the worst sports sedan you can buy in its segment. The g70, c43, s4, m340i and is500 are all better cars.

@@spencersynek8543 I test drove the m340i and personally I didn't like the steering wheel or the level of comfort and interior space the car provides. I'm 5'11 and I felt like I needed a bigger car like the type S or ctv5.

This seems to be the V badge for people who want a comfortable DD but with the extra oomph for long stretches and twisty bits. Cadillac has been off my radar (outside of IMSA and the Blackwings) but as a daily this has me intrigued.
Really these caddy’s are soo great in being unique this is a great car but the best looking sedan from Cadillac is definitely the CTS

I'm about to say something controversial. The American luxury brands have better styling now than the Germans.
The Germans have been using the same basic design for so long it just kinda boring or worn out. They arent ugly. But this is something fresh and new.

Definitely sending Lori some love for her excellent video game! Loved the things that you said about this car, but it isn't a 3 series competitor, it's dimensions are the same as the 5 series, and then visually, when you look at it, it's obvious that it isn't a little car like the 3 series.

the wheels look tame n base for a performance trim, one of those rare times i'd go aftermarket on the wheels

Depends on what you want in the sedan. Going around corners definitely the CT5 V, but if luxury and better interior materials C43. I like the way the CT5 looks in the interior but the quality could use some work.
Don’t expect anyone to compare CT5 to an AMG C class. A fair comparison is CT5 vs E class (non amg)
Raiti I have to admit at first I was very disappointed with GM when they said no more CTS-V and that it would be smaller and lighter with a new name CT5 well I had a chance to see it at a dealer and I love the new car but no V8 in the CT5-V,what are they crazy? No this maybe the smartest thing they've done yet. This car is awesome it just should've gotten last years V6 from the V series but it sounds great,now let's see that Blackwing which is the CTS -V replacement I know you and I both are going to be in for a treat. I really like the CT5-V ... 360hp is plenty of power! Driving in the city with traffic there's no stretch of rode to be going over 80mph. If you're not out in the middle of nowhere on a highway. Just saying!

Seeing this was 7 months ago I'm sure you already know this but yes it does have a launch mode its just buried.
So glad you mentioned the Kia Stinger and Genesis G70 vehicles as competition for this car. Those two cars don’t get enough credit for their performance per dollar.
I just picked up a fully loaded 2021 AWD Kia Stinger GT2 for $45,300 out the door. It did the 1/4 mile in 12.94 seconds at 108 mph straight out of the box 100% stock according to my Dragy.
I don't think the G70 is competition for this car. the g80 would be a better option.
@@wazgoodjj Technically yes that’s true because a G70 would blow this CT5 out of the water for a few grand less.

We recently reviewed the 2021 Acura TLX Type S, a direct competitor of the CT5-V, and it doesn't seem to deliver the same level of soul-stirring enjoyment that the CT5-V does. That's partly because the Cadillac has 51 additional lb-ft of torque versus the Type S, but also because the Acura also feels heavier and less enthusiastic about in its movements... Motor Trend.
I agree that performance of CT5-V superior to Type S but the Type S just looks way better and the steering wheel and sound system are awesome in that car
@@ericortega5618 the good sound system is only available in regular TLX but not in Type S. And the TLX is smaller than the CT5
That little extra hp comment is spot on. the ct6 3.0 tt is like 404 hp and 400 trq. Not sure why GM couldn't match that for the CT5 V.
For the money you can’t beat it the ct5v is about $6000 cheaper than the m340i

I could never afford a black wing but the V surprisingly is a very good medium maybe a few years down the road I can get one under 40k. Would definitely be my style just unsure what color 🤔 Love GM thank you

This is a nice job Cadillac! You seem to have really done your homework and put it into production! Except for the notch in the C-pillar window, I like everything I see. Btw, notice how this front grille is present but still tasteful and uniquely Cadillac, unlike the Genesis uniquely goofy grille. I. have AMG’s and an Audi, but I’d give this a look for a daily driver sports sedan. Not a chance for you Genesis. Oh, and bring back the sport wagon Cadillac!

This and the Type S are on my short list. I know you can't comment on the Type S yet, but you can comment on the normal TLX on things like, material quality, the tech, seats etc. Here in Canada this with incentives is on par with the Type S, almost identical. But with this you get HUD, digital cluster, much better infotainment in my opinion, high quality 360 cam where the Type S isn't even getting a 360 cam, digital rear view mirror, lighted door sills, lighted door handles, automatic trunk with puddle light, double sun roof, built in dash cam, massage seats....etc. It's a very good looking car and honestly as someone that has never owned American, it really has my attention. Sadly I can't go see either car right now so I'm relying on reviews. Both dealers are 800 kms away. But I have a major spinal issue and seat comfort is #1 then my car guy needs are #2. When you do your Type S review, please compare competition like the CT5-V, even if it's in the comments.
Just drive a CT4 or CT5 Alpha ll chassis. If you can't get a hold of a 2013+ ATS with orginal Alpha chassis. It is worth your time!

Oh man. I’m between these 2 amazing cars as well. I do agree with all the extra features makes it a more bang for the buck and got to test drive the CT5-V series and it felt super agile and not a crazy stiff suspension. But on the other hand, the Type S is cheaper and I worry about the reliability and resell value of the CT5 V series. Planning to go test drive the Type S soon and see how they compare. Did you end up making your decision?
