- Leeds Councillor, Mothin Ali could be investigated by the Green Party for shouting ‘Allahu Akbar’, moments after he was elected.
He continued by saying: “This is a win for the people of Gaza”, whilst his supporters unfurled a Palestinian flag behind him.
Conservative Peer, Lord Stewart Jackson, explains he is quite disappointed by the Green Party, “as they are, by and large, sincere people trying to do their best at local level.”
Dr David Bull questioned what Palestine had to do with local elections, to which Lord Jackson responded, saying "the Green Party are normalising people who should not be normalised.”

I find this very disturbing. Let's have peaceful conscientious councillors in local government who are there to serve people and sort out local issues, such as, arguments with neighbours, car parking, litter, community cohesion and so forth. This level of aggression does NOT belong in local government, to be honest, it does not belong nationally either. I cannot imagine how he is going to behave in Council meetings. 🤔He's just showing a misunderstanding of how he thinks local government works. Where was his speech about how hard he is going to work for the Green Party and green issues on behalf of the people who voted him in, people who care about the green issues in their community. How is he going to serve a Jewish or Christian resident who come to him for help and advice?
