    The intro for your video features the sound of a Flowmaster muffler if I'm not mistaken. Years ago Flowmaster had a video on the sound of their mufflers on many makes and models of muscle cars. Tell me the sound you use is from a big block Mopar and not some Chevy or Ford product! Your detail on your models is superb to how I used to build model cars. After building several hundred car models, I switched to WW2 tank models where mud and dirt and dents look perfect. Throw in a diorama with the model and I'm a happy camper. Love your videos. Thank you. Yes the sound you hear is a pair of Flowmasters under one of my cars. Sorry to disappoint but it is not the BBM. That is my wife’s 71 Chevelle with a mild 375HP/350 small block. It has Fast EZ EFI, shorty headers, 2.5 mandrel bent exhaust by Bellengers with X pipe. I would have loved to have recorded the wagon. It had a 440 mildly built with magnum manifolds and cherry bomb mufflers with factory dual pipes. It was loud and poppy. Motor went about 5 years ago. Back then I bought TTI headers and 3 inch exhaust with Dynomax mufflers. I bought that right before the motor went and is still in all the boxes. Started building a 512 stroker for it. My son was born and medical bills and life put that on hold. Short block is now done and I just bought Trick Flow heads for it. Hopefully it will be running by the end of the year but may not be on the road.

    I am putting all my spare time on this subject at the moment. I am using parts from the Revell 1969 Charger to improve the result ( many parts have the same dimensions and fit right in and you get posable wheels). The bench seat from the 1970 Monogram Runner is being transformed to look like the base interior to match the door panels. The Fire Ball 1/24 parts are also a must. Mine will be light green metallic.

    I also heard the "Bee" direction was fixed in the new re-issue.
    I think it's interesting that the actual name of the kit could be two ways: "1969 Dodge Super Bee" or "1969 Dodge 440 Six Pack". Last issue for the "Six Pack" kit was in 1983. The newest re-issue is the "Super Bee" kit, by Revell, in 2009 which has the correct decals. Kit #85-4505.

    Those are gorgeous models. I remember when I built my kit. I painted it green a la Sublime and I put the 'six pack' decal on the bonnet scoop but if you lift the bonnet off, you won't see the original kit supplied V8. Mine has the V10 from a wrecked Viper kit I had laying around. Of course I had to fabricate a new gearbox tunnel but apart from that, it fitted straight in

    Great history bits (as always), your builds look great they've weathered the years well 😀 My first (full detail glue) build that I can actually remember was this kit (the box art you showed from 1983), was also my first build where I painted anything. I remember that I sprayed the hood and interior flat black, but hand buffed the molded blue body. So of course when the new re-release came out I picked a couple up, lol, but haven't cracked the plastic wrap off yet. Great video 😊✌

    hello, my friend. beautiful cars! great job!
    but(why is there always a but? lol), I believe that the Mopar designation codes you start off with are(I'm sorry), wrong. the Hemi Darts and Barracudas were coded L023. the A-990 cars were the early 60s factory race cars with that 413 Stage 3, Max Wedge or the 426 Wedge cars. I'll have to ck on exactly which they were. I'm getting senile and can't remember. doh!

  • @mrkemblegilstrap
    @mrkemblegilstrap Před 2 lety

    Great job on the cars and the video!! I hate to complain, my friend. But(there's always a but, dammit), your narrative contained an erroneous mention of the Hemi Dart/Barracuda, as being designated as A990. I'm sure it was just a boo boo on your part, as I extremely satisfied with your facts. Yeah, the A990s were the '64, '65 race versions of the Coronet/Belvedere(?), with the 426 race hemi. I can't remember what the code designation for the 426 hemi Dart/Barracudas, that you mentioned.
    Yes, the 440-6 engines had beefier connecting rods and were externally balanced, with a counter weight on the harmonic balancer.
    I wish that I could remember what the actual engine code in the VIN # was for my Bee. I did, in fact, get lucky enough to have found 2(!) factory build sheets inside the springs, of the back seat. I wish that I could remember if they were in the seat or the back rest portion. 😕 Crap, this being an old geezer business, s****! I honestly do remember some details about the build sheets. Both of them were what appeared to be a rubber stamping. 440 6 Pack in big red letters kinda haphazardly, diagonally, a little above the middle of each page. I always knew it was a real deal A12 car. The patina doesn't lie. Hah, back then nobody even gave a crap about these cars to fake them, anyways. I paid a whopping $700 for this rascal. The good points were the perfect body, with only a small rust hole at the bottom of the passenger side, of the rear window. Of course the A12 hood. A dull, rough, flat black, finish that was in no way shiny. The center post in the opening of the scoop was gone and at speed, the top of the scoop kinda bulged. Like the top on a convertible might do. The corners, near the cowl, looked a little like rats had chewed on them, but weren't too noticeable. I alway carried a broom stick in the grill to prop the crazy thing up for quick access. One time on our "Ocean Drive", I had propped the hood up and a freak gust of wind caught that thing and woosh it took off!! The freakin thing went up about 10 feet in the air and crashed on one corner, (of course),about 15 feet behind the car! Then, I saw why it had looked like the rats got it. Man, that thing was tough! It barely added to the slight damage already there.
    Now, the bad points. Somebody had taken the entire drive train. The engine, tranny, rear end, were replaced with 383, 4 barrel. No, not Magnum. This motor had suffered a rod bearing being spun. Hence, the $700 price, lol! I had built a 413 for a Road Runner, but that car was just too nice to be a race car. That's why I bought the Bee. It was the perfect candidate. Oh, and the seats needed to be redone, as 99% of Mopars needed.
    Anywho, a monster was born, my friend. I laugh at these cars in videos that have to power break to lay rubber for a city block. No power breaking needed to liquefy any street tire. Reminicent of the Chevelle, I mentioned earlier. The 31.5" tall slicks worked perfectly with the 4.89 rear I replaced the 3.23 with. I hate to brag, but(there's that word again, lol), I attained a bit of celebrity with that animal. Groupies, too! Guys and girls, heh heh. My list of shenanigans is almost without end...

    • @TheMuscleCarModeler
      @TheMuscleCarModeler  Před 2 lety +1

      Thank you! Yes, I messed up that fact about the A990. The 68 cars were not street legal and were the last of the race only cars to come from Mopar beginning with the A990 cars. Sometimes I mess up a fact or two. It's not easy and sometimes I'm tired when I film these. Usually after 10PM when my son is finally asleep.

      @@TheMuscleCarModeler well, I am very impressed with you and your knowledge, love, and dedication to Mopar. Hah, you mentioned Direct Connection in one of your vids. Man, that really took me back! I had pretty much memorized both volumes. The Chilton books, too. Well, actually the Chiltons were first. Hot Rod and Car Craft magazines were GM(🤮) dominated. My parents had a Chilton for 1967-1974 American vehicles. That was the only place you could see GTX, RR, BEE, DEMON, ETC. And all the motors. Yeah, it was pretty rough to research anything in those pre internet days. We were pretty much scratching in the dirt with sticks, lol. It was pretty awesome to get factory PN#s, order and pick up hot rod parts like cams, lifters, gaskets and anything with a Mopar #. I could honestly say, that most everything in my car was factory. The 2 big factions(read enemies), were us and "the Buick boys". I was the Mopar ringleader/head trouble maker. Almost any work on a Mope, was taking place at my house(parents). The Buick boys were desperate for Intel on us, and they would drive by my house. One time I saw one of them coming, so I grabbed my BB gun and ran out the street and made him back down the street, the way he came in. They didn't drive by anymore after that. One of my best friends, lived down the street. He had the first Mopar muscle car in any of the High schools. '70 Bee. 383 Magnum. Perfect burnt orange/white "C" stripe body with trashed seat covers. $500! Insane, right? That thing ran like a bat out of hell, even with the 3.23 single track. We both had the DC, silver jackets. In, high school I had a '73 Charger Rallye with a 318(🤮). I remember the first day I saw that car. My jaw dropped. Actually, he still has that car, to this day. He was the only one of us that was able to hang onto his car all these years. Hey!?! Finally, a happy ending! 🐝
