This video is two years but I want to thank you a lots for this video. I followed exactly what you did and long behold that was the issue. For the life of me I couldn’t figure out the u code. Thank you!!!!
@alfredodiaz2651 My Pleasure! I'm glad to hear that the video was helpful!
This is HABIB AUTO, K Diagnosis you are great teacher, thank you so much,👍♥️❤️
Suleman Habib My Pleasure bro!!
First video that actually found out this code
@xxxtra_guacamole Good!
The same testing procedure can be used on the ECM and other modules. You did a great job explaining everything and showing the right way to test using the back probes.
Richard 1 Thank you!!
amazing guy its about time we have a guy know who's what he's talking about
very good job Man
@walter8911 Thank you!
your the man . thank you 🙏
had a similar problem this video solved it for me . thank you again
@user-gy4fc7gf1x My Pleasure! I'm glad to hear the video was helpful!
Thank you so much for this! I had the exact same symptoms on my 2015 and your troubleshooting steps allowed me to find the problem myself. In my case I had a damaged wire that had corroded to green dust near the transmission connector. Spliced it back together with a weather sealed butt splice connector and all is well!
You have no idea how much I celebrated when I got the truck to crank again by running power directly to the pin for the bad wire. Even though the problem wasn't fixed yet, I knew I _could_ fix it at that point.
Ben Nemec My Pleasure! I'm glad to hear that the video was helpful!!
Very good point you made about the TCM not being listed as a communications fault showing that it is unavailable to communicate. Very good observation. Glad I found your Diagnostic Channel
Richard 1 Thank you!! I'm glad to have you in our community!!
Great taken us through step by step. This is a great 👍 teaching process. Thank you sir!

Great diagnostic. Try getting a set of power probe battery connect leads to avoid accidental shorts.they can also double for your scope ground. Thanks
Frank John Great suggestion!! I will get those test leads
Appreciate your hard work in bringing us these diagnostics videos. Thank you. Richard's "Mobile" Auto and Air

Awesome 👍 diagnostics skill, Spot on..
How to found open circuit or short ground..
Can't wait for part 2 the video
Awudu Bannaf Thank you!! Part 2 is already out check it out and let me know!!
@@KITS_Auto_and_Truck_Repair link for part 2 please
@@lancehoward2878 Part 2 of this video is right after this video on my playlist
Excellent video. Great explanation. I am getting the same error code (U0101) on a Kia Reo (2009) 1.4 Litre. The vehicle is starting fine. However, while driving the vehicle would go in a limp mode and the transmission cannot shift properly. I am unable to connect to the ECM & TCM with my scanner when the vehicle is in Limp Mode. When the engine cools down for about 1/2 hour, I can then connect to the ECM & PCM with the scanner.
Kenny Doolarchan it sounds like you have a failing ECM, since it's not communicating when the engine gets hot but it communicates when the engine cools down, right? you should have a pro mechanic diagnose it for you!
Good job
Alexander Stefanxandra Swedish Thank you!!
Nice man
Israr Khan Thanks!!
This is happening to my 2014 RAM 1500, but after a couple of hours it turns back on, mechanic told me that i need a new TCM! MY QUESTION IS, IF I DO HAVE AN OPEN CIRCUIT, IS IT NORMAL FOR MY RAM TO TURN BACK ON AFTER A COUPLE OF HOURS? This happens to me every time I use my truck for 30 min or more! Hating my truck right about now! Thanks
@martinherrera3859 My Pleasure! No, it sounds like your problem might be the Module itself and I hope they checked the wiring, an Open would the truck to not start!
Your so clever man 👨
CROWN AFRO-EURO Thank you!!
My truck was having shifting problems. Got a new shifter but dealer then told me their diagram shows the tcm red but no codes come up on my truck .
Lyp000 that's odd! so did they fix it!
@@KITS_Auto_and_Truck_Repair No , they replaced the connector thinking that was the issue . Now they want to take apart the trans which im thinking they think im dumb bc they don’t know what to do & the trans is completely new , and this is all at the dodge dealer .
@@lyp0002 dang that sucks! is there a pro mechanic in the area that you can take it to!
I have the same truck it starts and everything runs n drives gives the same code but it acts like it does not want to go at throttle but if you you hit the gas down at 20% it will go smoother
@Reyes_____ I recommend you have the TCM Wiring checked!
Straight forward frerot!
So cannot be a short otherwise the fuse would've been blown right?
Can't wait to find out what went wrong with the wire
Usman The Mechanic yeah a short to ground on that wire would blow the fuse!!
Part 2 of this video will be out soon, I'm sure you will enjoy it! stay tuned bro
Which diagnostic tool / scan computer are you using? I had a similar problem with my Ram 2015 eco diesel.
Good Path I used the Snap-On Zeus scanner
👍👍👍👍😍
Aymen Mohamed Thank you!
Hi bro you very nice teaching❤❤❤❤❤
But I need 2018 dodge ram 5500 transmission module wire diagram on pdf ,
@aminsalarzai9040 Thanks! I don't have it, sorry!
Why didn't you take the trans connector out of the trans? Wouldn't you still get the same results with the test light?
Gail M Yes! but there was not need to disconnect the transmission connector
What was the conclusion? I have the same problem but I do not have any power in either wire at the TCM, or harness. I do have power in the fuse panel though and the fuse is good.. is it the Body control module?
Patrick Kenny this video has two parts, when you watch part 2 of this video, you will know what the fix was! in your case if the fuse is good and you don't have power at the TCM then your problem is probably an open in the wire!
thank you very much. any help ,use test light to check the ground if the ground wire is broken, will it be positive directly to tcm, will it cause damage to tcm? I am from Vietnam, I am a student.
Dat Huynh My Pleasure!! Using a test light to check powers and ground wires will not damage the TCM
@@KITS_Auto_and_Truck_Repair I see forums saying not to use test light to test control boxes, that's it.
@@dathuynh853 if you are testing a low current circuit it might be bad to use a test light but to test a TCM Power or ground wire you will be fine!!
this is a prime example of to much tech. old days had a lever with a rod and a neutral safety switch manual connection didn't need pcm trouble free operation. i understand all the electronics changed that
Dependable Auto Truck Yeah!!
This is why i drive older vehicles..
Greg Mccarter Lol!
I HAVE SAME PROBLEM DODGE RAM M LOOKING
@user-hr5yk8qg7m you might have a wiring problem!
What is your contact information? I have had similar issues in the past.
Good Path you can email me at Deo@calleva.org
U didn't fuse the jumper wire, point of correction 🤣🤣🤣. Lol just joking but it wasn't fused
Dumisani Tembani Mtisi Lol!! That's a good point!! thanks for your suggestion
I wish I was near you i'd pay you NO PROBLEM! I have a 2005 navigator and last week I went into limp mode and my transmission won't shift and i'm in NO CRANK NO START MODE with U 0101 and multiple CAN codes hell! my ABS and advancetrac light is on now and i'm throwing a code from damn near every sensor in my truck O2 sensors, MAF, crank sensors and EVAP sensors all of this happened at the same time and the dash said check electric throttle i' not a mechanic I limped home and bought a new throttle body and had someone put it on in my driveway since I got a transmission code I took it to a transmission shop and the guy had the truck 2 days and is saying he can't tell me anything yet he's a transmission shop and have the code the dude has a racist attitude ANY SUGGESTIONS MY BROTHA? I NEED HELP I was thinking of having it towed to an electrical shop tomorrow every shop I called and told them the truck and code they are all afraid of the code and my truck WHAT SHOULD I DO?
jeff Watson I'm sorry to hear about what you're going through, those codes can be caused by a couple of things, so I cannot tell exactly what your car needs... so I recommend taking it to a pro mechanic shop to have it diagnosed!!
Water in the fuse panel or harness rubbed open .. feel behind the intake manifold between the engine and the firewall. On that era Ford theres a main harness wrapped in black loom that goes down the back of the engine and onto the transmission, 02 sensors, etc.. I've seen them rub raw on the edge of the bell housing at the one exact spot that's difficult to see from either direction. Looking down the engine or up from the tranny it's just the one little spot that's not visible.. if the fuse box is dry chances are that's your culprit.
