Federal no longer runs the Lake City plant, Winchester does now. I bought M193 labeled Winchester and it had the LC head stamp. Luckily seems to shoot to same poi as Federal LC so going forward a switch may have to occur.
I always found it kind of odd that people use steel case ammo with both pistol and rifle calibers, "other than AK variants". The savings difference is usually like 2 dollars max per box of ammo. The advanced wear on the firearm, the obvious loss of accuracy and reliability just isn't worth the price difference. For defensive measures I go the boring route, "atleast in 9mm, 45 & 223/556". For my pistols I like stacking HST & Gold Dot, mostly in standard pressure 124 & 147g but will step up to +p 124g for my shield plus / hellcat just to help negate the velocity loss from a short barrel. I do switch it up with 556/223. I primarily stack M193 that's actually loaded to M193 pressures, "imi / Winchester / PPU / Hornady Frontier". For around the ranch I'm a huge fan of Speers 62g softpoint rounds. The terminal ballistics I've seen on 400+ibs hogs around here is absolutely devastating, moreso than any OTM heavy caliber rounds.
I've seen worse. It's actually a good idea to shoot training ammo that feels like your defensive ammo. Recoil management is part of training with heavier calibers. Especially if you shoot them out of little guns.
I watched a Paul harrel vid awhile back where the geco was quite weaker than the others tested. I want to say it was 5.56 would have to look to be sure
I own a ton of different pistols over 25 years now.... The PDP completely changed and revitalized my love for pistols and actually was the first pistol I put an RDS on.... Now that I've gotten used to the rds I now can't go without.... It's like cheat codes irl.
I am a fan of the Kalashnikov (not exclusively though) and I've bumped into the kind of guys you're talking about. Sure it's reliable enough but AKs have drawbacks just like any other firearm type. Still displeased about the surge in 7.62x39 prices though.
Me too. Despite the AK's inherent, and often fixable, drawbacks, I very much enjoy shooting it, and the low cost is certainly a factor. But the Makarov ammo is going to kill me.
@@thegunpenguin Honestly, 7.62x39 is common enough that regardless of Russian contracts being discontinued I'm sure there's other sources. Now 54R and 9x18 you might have an issue. Considered a Makarov myself but realized they're not as common as in STALKER so, eh.
With military calibers I make sure it has a NATO head stamp it's just higher quality all around. I have a tip for saving ammo wile testing your firearm for reliability with HP ammo. Load every other round with ball ammo then only fire the ball ammo and ejecting the HP. Do this over and over until the Hp ammo is looking bad then fire it. I even take closeup video of the HP ammo being fired from the firearm so I can see how is doing later.
Thanks for the kind words! I don't have a USP, but I very much enjoy them. I was saving for a USP Expert before the pandemic hit, and when they're more readily available, I'll pick one up.
Mr. Penguin, your videos are the absolute worst and I love them, I've always been great at making poor choices. So I recently sold my last 9mm handgun but I still have 300-400 rounds of 9mm sitting in my cabinet. Im on the fence about what to do, my options are Getting an AP EPC 9mm, a PSA GX-9/ARV, or buy another handgun. what are your thoughts??
Thank you for the kind words! Which one of those do you think would give you the most enjoyment? I'm always biased towards Aero. Both of these guns are blowback, and I don't tend to enjoy the blowback PCCs myself, or I'd the Aero PCC, for sure! Either way, you're going to have a cool gun!
@@thegunpenguin The blowback PCC’s are within my budget.I’ll be stretching my budget with the Aero but I won’t buy it all at 1 time, kind of up in the air but I’ll see what kind of holiday sales I find in the next couple weeks.
@@ep6606 That's fair! And it's important to not overspend, I think. If the PSA is going to tickle your fancy, and it's the one that fits your budget, it's still going to work great!
I've. Bean waiting for this.

Thanks TGP. Great job. Good info.

Man, I want one of those Aero M5s so bad, but I'm waiting on them to do the uppers without a forward assist.
It's a great gun! But I also understand waiting to get the exact configuration you want. Hopefully they'll do a pencil barrel .308 upper soon!

Yep, you were right. Worst ammo video ever. I loved every minute of it! Thanks GP!
Thank you so much!
You forgot to tell us about your .380 and .40 ammo choices!
Very true! Unfortunately, I don't shoot those much anymore.

I don't have any GECO 5.56. Generally speaking, European companies load pistol ammo a bit hotter than we do domestically.
You’re lucky the auto match works in all your 22s. I’ve had bad luck with it and I have a bunch of it. Now it just gets shot through my revolver.
If I'd had your experience, I wouldn't use it either!
Love your sarcasm!
Thanks!
Lol. Every downvote you get will come from a butt-hurt AK guy.
hahaha yes
You should try the PDP, I think you’ll really like it!!

10mm? Or is that just whatever you can find at any time to feed the glock 40?
I'm fairly picky about 10mm. I greatly prefer stuff in the 600 ft. lbs. range for the G40 MOS.

If you ever see GGG 7.62x51 for a decent price jump on it. My aero loves it, and it used to be available for a very reasonable price.
