Roy Keane would give them the kick up the arse they need . But my pick due to soundness and Passion is Damien DUFFFFFF

No it doesn’t. Keane was out of control and had no right to treat players, or any human being like that.

    Sorry for the essay lads..
I feel like people and the players want O'Shea to get the job through sentiment because they had a good camp.
Let's look at the facts here. O'Shea was the assistant coach in any role he was in , he doesn't have the experience. The reason we sacked Kenny was because we needed someone with experience and someone who could get us to qualify.
Fans have had enough of transition in this team we need results now, and we need to be qualifying for major tournaments and i get why the FAI want someone with experience because they need the revenue, they're broke.
If we were left with O'Shea i would get behind him, but we need someone with proven experience at club and international level.
I must say the whole recruitment process has been an absolute joke and whoever has been leaking these names to the press should be ashamed of themselves. If the FAI go with O'Shea, they're gonna look weak, and it will show that it took almost a year to choose one of Kennys assistants in the end is an utter failure of recruitment on their part. Because lets face it Kennys job was gone after the September window last year and they would have started recruitment then.

Honestly its doesnt have to be a manager with a "name"
I think with the players we have we have to go back to a more direct style of play and play with high intensity. Anytime against Switzerland where we upped the tempo and went a little bit more direct we created chances. Also think Ferguson needs a strike partner. It was better when Idah came on to lead the line and Ferguson could drop off a touch.
A manager should always setup a team to get the best out of them and not follow trends of trying to play like Man City/Arsenal. We just dont have the players to do that.

Yes i think you are spot on John Oshea wants the job and has brilliant experience playing top level football also very confident with the media and i think his relationship with younger players would be a lot better than other candidates if there are any.😂😂

I wanted Lennon but they should keep O’Shea on. Looked promising after the two friendlies. High press energetic momentum playing style is probably the best way to play at the moment. Midfield is our weakest point with box to box 8s our only choices, but he implemented front foot way of playing that’s gets the best out of our mids and the rest of the team.
It can go horribly wrong or brilliantly right. But he seems focused, he drives the players on and a staff that drills the tactics into the players. Sure that’s all managers but we could be looking at something special here.
Also, he’s a young proud passionate Irish man
    And affordable.

I feel one of the keys is O’Shea has the respect and the players seem to have that for him.
Yes he may lack experience, but I feel rubbing shoulders with experience can have an effect if you’re coachable.
He’s come in with a few weeks notice, gathered a team that together has the right intentions.
Kenny brought in more debutants, which I feel will help the bigger picture.
The experienced players mentioned are crucial too. Cohesion with passion help but turning will into skill is important too.
We can, we will build and develop with the correct intentions!

Agree 100%. I said so after the two friendlies. He's cool, calm and confident and is not fazed by the media unlike our last manager. The players respect him and he appears to be tactically aware. He's also available and reasonable financially.
People may say he's not experienced as a manager but neither was Arteta before he took the Arsenal job, and that hasn't worked out too bad has it?
Not every good player becomes a good manager, but I've been impressed by him so far and I think he deserves to be given a shot for the WC qualifiers at least.

      The friendly results were terrible.
Not an ounce of difference to Kennys.
The ludicrous claim that if we scored v Belgium we would have won ignores the history of the players.
This is a really poor piece.
O shea should get it because he wants it.
      The end.

The problem is very simple; every serious international manager with a reputation to protect could not touch this job with a bargepole. The reason; Vera Pauw. She took a team that never qualified, make them get results, qualified for the World Cup and the thanks ... disguising! The only question to be answered is why the FAI do not understand they are a toxic brand.

Coaching the England U21s is a way better job than trying to fix the Republic. Tonnes of talented youth. Win a few games, get the top job. Southgate did it that way. Mental to think he'd manage Ireland, with zero grass-roots coaching, zero academies, zero pro league, 1/12th population split between 4 big field sports, us aping the worst things the English did to fail 30 years ago... Lee would need his head examined.

So stephen ward must have some memory,to remember word for word what roy said, and it was walters that was the one who was mouthing, and its football,a squad of players coaches and a manager,so do people think they all get along and are great friends, and never seen a bit of aggro in a dressing room, get real,Roy Keane has been the best player and a good assistant to Ireland,he deseves a chance,he should be manager, kenny they gave it too,and he had done nothing to take note of that warrented him getting it,Roy or John O Shea should get it

O'Shea for me. For a start, he actually wants it and he was a great servant for Ireland and hopefully that would rub off on the other players.

You might as well keep Kenny as give it to O'Shea.
Canham and Hill are an embarrassing mess.
OSheas results are identical to Kennys.
We clearly don't have the players.

O'Shea would be a good shout but only with a strong coaching group around him. He's a young manager on the way up as opposed to an older journey man on the way down looking for a paycheck.

They should just give it to o'shea, they gave kenny a chance for 3 years and he turned out to be useless, why not give o'shea a campaign. I'd reckon taking a punt on o'shea would be better than keane. Roy keane didn't do much in management.

O Shea has done nothing in management....never managed...1 point out if six if those two friendlies were competitive ...Keane is Ireland's greatest player ever, plus did ok at Sunderland...won promotion etc
