Thanks so much for coming to UCD and featuring us.
Emmet, that was a great on-the-spot presentation, Stephen
Yeah league of Ireland is really underfunded and they can’t keep any talent if they manage to produce it because every kid here who plays football wants to be scouted for a premier league team.
It is a shame. But there’s still a lot of fun in the Irish league, and Rovers regularly show a good account of themselves in Europe. Lots to be proud of.
@@stuntpeggnieve Irish League is Northern Ireland. League of Ireland is Republic (and Derry. It's complicated)
@OfficialStuntPegg I've just discovered your channel. You are gold! Love and envy your adventures. Keep it up. Love from Portugal!
Premier League teams can’t sign Irish players before they turn 18 now, thanks Brexit!
That's the reality of leagues outside of the top 5-7 leagues. Same here in Sweden; most of the talents want to play outside in Europe's bigger clubs
That's really charming! The other day I learned of Loughgall FC from Northern Ireland. They're a Club from a tiny village, according to Wikipedia they had a population of not even 300 people at the last census in 2011. Last season they got promoted to the top flight for the first time since 2007, which also makes them the smallest place in Europe to have a 1st Division Football Club. I bet that would be a fun little trip for you! :D
the place is a dump don't waste a journey
@@spookyghost7524have ya been?
lol i live 5 miles away from loughall
@@spookyghost7524regularly wins best kept village, I have a feeling you don't like Loughgall for other reasons 😉 A score of 9 - 0 maybe 😂
That's a nice story that should be heard. I swear she makes the best videos about clubs like these. Should be fun if she'd go
This is class, you've actually made me wanna go to Dublin and watch a UCD match. Keep em coming Neive your videos are awesome.✌
That’s such a great comment Callum, thank you, you’d have a bloody great time at UCD!
they're absolutely brilliant
Callum, you'd be very welcome at The UCD Bowl.
Because we have a large number of Players at the University we play in other winter leagues. Home games on campus but not at The UCD Bowl.
Nieve?

Everton played UCD in the European Cup winners Cup in 1985, we won 1-0 over two legs, winning at Goodison but UCD hit the bar in the last minute, which if it went in we were out. We went on to win the cup UTFT! Great video 💙
UCD AFC are very proud Everton FC and Goodison Park are part of UCD's history. Thanks for remembering.
Always nice to see a new video from StuntPegg. I'd love her to do something related to the Faroe Islands - Klaksvik are having an amazing season in Europe, making history.
Funnily enough I’ve recently been looking into the best routes to the Faroe Islands, it’s definitely a place I’d like to visit this season. (And thank you!)
SteveMarsh on youtube recently went to the Faroe Islands and his videos are full of information on the journey there by air as well as around the islands, I think he even passed by the football stadium as well, but they are really informative videos from another great CZcamsr. They went online 3 months ago.@@stuntpeggnieve
@@stuntpeggnieve You can now fly direct from NYC to Faroes, so come to NYC first. You can sleep on the couch and entertain us with your comedy gold footie insight! Or, you know, you can just get a direct flight from Edinburgh to Vága or something like a normal person lol.
I studied abroad there!! Loved UCD and their team even if we got hammered everyday in the LoI (also was fun seeing players walking to the stadium on GameDay). Liam scales played for us, the year I was there. Proud of the lad!
Also Gary O'Neil and Neil Farrugia are both former UCD player's too.
Liam did well in his first 2 internationals!
I didn't expect to hear my voice in the intro of this video when it showed up on my CZcams recommended! Amazing work telling the story of UCD and documenting the matchday experience.
Hey! Thank you very much. Really enjoy your videos!
I actually remember hearing about them from someone doing a Fifa Career mode with them
Very nice video! I love the small parts of your video when you just film the stadium life, or talk to locals about the game. I'd love to see more of them or longer moments like this (or special videos of such "cut" moments that you'd like to show us, football geeks).
In Europe, I think the worst team in a first division league would be Sanmarinese bottom team, currently Faetano.
Acceptance rate of 20%😂😂😂😂
IIT Bombay laughs at this university from distance

This delightful video truly highlights the warm hospitality of the Irish people. Nieve, your voice is a pleasure to listen to - it’s soothing and calming. Please continue to visit smaller clubs; they and their communities deserve recognition.
Well they were confirmed as relegated a few weeks ago but they did very well to hold Shams to a point that day. As a Shelbourne fan Ive been in this stadium more times than i can count as an away fan and the pitch is 100 times better than some of the other pitches in the league
Adzz, that's very nice of you to say. This match confirmed UCD's relegation.
@@ucdfans3376 It's true though, well looked after pitch, just needs a few more stands around it to showcase it properly, for pitch quality I'd say only Tallaght Stadium and Showgrounds are better pitches in the Premier this season
Neat video, its cool getting these perspectives on the smaller clubs. For the future, you could cover the promotion/relegation into or out of the efl.
As a French (no need to say it but i have to lol) I discovered your channel with the Lyon’s game and I love it, the way you show that there is so much life around football, so much « normal » people and not only superstars.
I want to suggest you to watch a french-speaking belgian show about a ancient pro-footballer coaching the worst team of belgium.
It’s really funny and interesting, it’s called « Les heros du gazon » (« grass heroes » I guess) but unfortunately I dont think there are any subtitles 😢
Love this! Looks like a great close knit team. Big shout to Emmet a true fan who's volunteered for 23 years helping the club what a legend! Reminds me of my local non league sides.
Non league and smaller clubs could not exist without volunteers. I coached my 4 lads, at different times, over 17 years when they were in school. I've done my time and loved it :)
Charming video. Love these style vids. Keep up the great work and I hope your channel keeps growing
I always love to see these type of videos. Really enjoyed Pegg.
Love the little bit of the cranberries that you had in there, figured out what I’ll be listening too for the rest of the day after this
Love how you cover the clubs and local people....and the matches. Keep it up
Ive just found you!!Love your vlogs, regards to both you and your mum. If the BBC are to replace Football Focus then you could really fill the void, keep up the excellent work, you and your mum ROCK!!!
I really can’t speak highly enough about the style of your videos! Never fails to be both charming and informative. Great stuff Nieve!
Really enjoyed this. I've been to college soccer matches here in the U.S. that looked very similar to that spectator experience. Without the Irish local charm, though. UCD may be crap on FIFA, but I'll say this: I think their logo and kit colors are class. Well done, Nieve, keep doing what you do!
Your videos are always so charming. It reminds me why I love the game. (Also, you’re not wrong, Dublin is a brilliant, but expensive night out!)
Always top quality videos. You bring the most calm athmosfere to our screens and its always about humble clubs. I'd wish one day I'll go somewhere like these places, having no ties to the place and people... just to find myself
I absolutely love your videos. Nothing makes me want to spend a few months leaving the US to come over and watch as many teams across all of Ireland, England, Wales, and Scotland. Just fit in as many matches as I can.
I like your editing style and candid nature of the interaction in your content.
I thought i was watching an Away days video then haha. Class video Nieve and definitely love going to see local small sides.
lol, when you said soccer - as a Canadian, definitely used to it, but not so much hearing it on CZcams 😂
Haha! The Irish call it soccer too, I won’t let myself get tricked into using this blasphemous language again 😉
Well that settles who I will be supporting in Ireland from now on! Just a great video again Neive! Ah yes, and the mayonnaise highlight! And the comment about your lovely accent. And the attitude of everyone there. I have only been to Ireland once but I recall seeing a mental health sign at a railway station reminding you that you are never more than 3 days away from a weekend...well it just says "why am I not living here?"
Absolutely superb video Nieve...I gotta get over to Ireland 🇮🇪 to get to one of these games...Seems a great place to be and the story behind UCD is amazing...Love your vlogs and keep the amazing content coming Nieve 👏🏻🇮🇪⚽️😍
This channel is really fascinating. Learning about smaller football clubs.
There are many things that I like about your videos, but your use of music (1:56) is always innovative and pleasing.
Once again your choice of music is fantastic. Keep up the great work!
Really enjoyed all the little snapshots of Dublin. Love from Texas ❤🇺🇸
Nice vid, loved the last bit :D
Another very enjoyable video. Really like your sense of humor!
Love this, great concept. Football isn't just about the top divisions. The real beauty is much lower down the pyramids.
That’s what I do like about games in Australia Rules Football (AFL ) all the fans from opposition teams just mingle. You yell and scream in the stadium, but then everyone walks out together and gets on the same trains. The soccer (football) is pretty similar.
Brilliant coverage
This is atmos similar to my experiences watching Cymru Premier (Bala Town) and Northern Premier League West Division (Prescot Cables). Everyone's there for a game of footy and the vibes. Fans just mix fine. Tickets reasonable prices.
If you go to Cables though, don't have the hot chocolate.
i mostly live alone, as in, not having friends, to roam around with. but, watching your videos regarding football from different parts of the world makes me spend at least 30 mins every day to think and dream about everything I'd do if i were there. we never realise to what all audience our content can cater to. do go to spain some day, i am a culer.
you make amazing content, never stop and never pivot.
cheers.
Legend, thank you for visiting one of the grounds....please go Kerry FC 😁
Wow! How didnt i find your videos before now! Your covrring subjects of football i often wonder about! All you hear is transfer news or results. Didnt care much for your opera question regarding spurs and trophies on last video 😂😂 aside from that well done and keep making top notch content 😊
Yeah Dublin is such a nice place to visit. They people are so friendly
you are so easy to watch , interesting and always entertaining
great video as always nieve!
Loved this.👏 Not scrolled through all the comments so it may have been said already but the nearest modern equivalent in England was Team Bath, who made it to the first round proper of the FA Cup about twenty years ago. IMHO got stitched up by the non-league authorities for financial reasons (not irregularities) and disbanded a few years later.
Utterly love Pegg, the passion, the humility, the empathy
These videos of yours are so heart warming. And believe me, normally I am the most cynical , misanthropic person you could meet. So well done. 😉
In a world where footballers have become superstars, it's a breath of fresh air to watch some real football in the LOI. But Irish football will never develop until Irish people start supporting their local teams rather than Liverpool and United.
Thanks for showing what our league is actually like!
Many support Celtic
they need money invested, and the suporters will come.
We have our own gaelic sports and rugby that people watch instead.
@MihailBFC It's a catch-22. No one will invest because people don't watch it and people don't watch it because there has been no investment...
@@terex9 It helps that the GAA and rugby teams are tied into preexisting Irish regions and identities. LOI teams are quite random in comparison.
Yayy! New stuntpegg video!
This is what football is really about: local people cheering for their local team.
love the channel!!
So, I was in Dublin on business. An ex-collegue was in Dublin to watch Muse. A friend was in Ireland, and passed through dublin on the way of course. and you were in Dublin.
Was EVERYONE IN DUBLIN THAT WEEK!?
(Just kidding, you were actually there a week earlier, but there has been a lot of Dublin lately. I haven't even opened all the Whiskey I bought).
What a gas! I think I have abandoned paying any attention to the top flights of football anymore, thanks for showing us where the game is still lovely and warm, and the centre of a local community. like it once was everywhere.
Great to see you stunt peg love seing your content
I laughed out loud at the soccer edit 😂
Another brilliant video! 👏
i thought professional university football clubs didn’t exist in europe until now for some reason
Hello Sir yeezus, UCD AF in Dublin train part-time. Cardiff Met in Wales top division maybe something similiar. Romania is the grand centre for Professional FCs associated with Universitatea. Craiova (2 Univ Craiova in top division) Unic Cluj, Poli Timisoara just a few in the top division.
your content is superb thank you kindly for another informative video .
Glad you enjoyed your time here ✌😊
ive fallen deep into a hole with this channel. so cool seeing all the little microcultures around clubs throughout the world. thanks!
Watching the game seemed genuinely fun!!!
Very charming and wholesome
the moment this lorry with basically a giant can of sweet, sweet guinness on its back just casually rolled through the shot, i was sold in an instant. sorry nieve. our contest is lovely as well.
Thank you Nieve. This was great!
Dublin is a lovely place. I've been to UCD and by that I mean I've been to the university. We went on a tour of the library and saw the book of Kells.
Apparently it was used in a location for Star Wars Episode 2.
that's Trinity not UCD
As hoosay says that was Trinity College Dublin/ Dublin University. But you likely saw a large green area for cricket and football. College Park one of the oldest sports venues in Dublin.
Fantastic. I work in UCD. Seen your vids and wondered if you'd end up coming over to see loi. Delighted you did. Bohemian FC fan.
Great video Níamh!
Loved the part where you score a goal in FIFA. Comedy Gold
Nice vid Nieve!
Great video i just subbed❤ :)
Glad to see this video, lived in Dublin for 4 years, loved it and miss it. UCD seems a yo-yo club, up and down constantly.
"i said soccer, didn't i?"😂 Appreciated that very much c:
Wonderful as always :) I'd say your name Nieve is an Anglicised version of the original (and Irish) name Niamh. They are both pronounced the same. I'm Irish by the way....a Rovers and West Ham fan the last 55 years !!
Nieve (Spanish) = Snow
The night out looks like great fun!
I've always liked UCD and their ground. Would love to see a game there one day.
We're a very welcoming bunch. Student bar is only 5 mins walk
Ah gas! The lovely Emmet Ryan you were chatting to. Had no idea he was a UCD volunteer. I'd recognise him as a basketball analyst on Irish language TV station TG4.
You have to come by the Copenhagen derby FC Copenhagen VS Brøndby you would love it
Special video… I followed UCD’s promotion campaign in 2021 when I was studying there and I can’t understate how great of a memory that was
Your channel is an inspiration to all, Thank you for showing the league of Ireland is underated ☘️
Thank you for this video. makes me wish my town of 75k in the US had a team so I could go to local games :(
Another enjoyable watch, as always. You cant beat a bit of banter with opposition fans. Thats how it should be. At the end of the day we're all football supporters not enemies
Whenever i drop into your videos you always have the absolute best taste in music with the snippets you include. Cranberries forever, rest easy Delores.
I studied there too and a few years before my time (1984-85 season) we played eventual winners Everton in the first round of the Cup Winners Cup. We drew 0-0 at home and then lost 0-1 away but still fared better than Bayern Munich - who were humbled a whopping 3-1 on aggregate.
The Neckbeard hoodie is awesome! lol
Last 10 seconds literally the world 😂😂
I saw UCD play at Bohemians ground years ago when I was in Dublin. UCD won 4-2.
Lol, I really hope you have a lot of fun on these jaunts.
The UCD Bowl, great for cereal, too small for soup
Few years ago we olsyed IFK Gothernberg in a Europa league qualifier to
Now I really want to see some football in Ireland 🇮🇪!
Excellent video as ever Nieve on top form. I like your Irish accent very 👍
Come to New Zealand and watch the Wellington Phoenix play in the A-League 😀. I think you can play as the Phoenix on FIFA.
When you said “soccer” even I as an American was like “heyyy hold on a sec.” Haha love that you addressed it. Great video as always.
Thanks for doing a nice video on our league
Just come back from Ireland. Watched Drogheda v Bohemians in Irish Cup a great atmosphere under the lights , Glentoran v Dungannon Swifts nice ground but a 0-0 albeit lots of chsnces , Crusaders v Cliftonville which finished 0-3 and to round off a trip to Dublin to watch St Patricks Athletic v Dundalk which was again a great game . Definitely going back the atmosphere the fans generate is much better than England and that includes the lower tiers . Irish football North or in the Republic is just less commercial and less expensive. 13 pounds or Euros for a ticket as well .
What a lovley way to watch a 1st Division match. In Germany you don't even have this in the 3rd League anymore.
Those Shamrock lads you set yourself by were so wholesome.
I like your editing style.
