On a serious note, thanks a lot for highlighting just how ridiculous the prices are for football merch - charging upwards of £50 for a t-shirt should never be considered the norm and therefore pricing SO many families out of buying items that their kids could be desperate for - 2 year kit cycles are a great step forward (as my club Brentford are doing), but more needs to be done on that front.

Exactly this. I’m so disappointed every year by clubs that release 3,4,5+ shirts each season. Halloween specials, winter specials, far-fetched anniversary specials, constant excuse after excuse to release more kits that end up in landfill because nobody can afford them!
I'm a Manchester United fan since 1984, and growing up in the 1980's, a new kit was released every 2 seasons. My parents used to buy me the home and away kits. Even the 3rd blue kit if they could. Prices were reasonable back then though. Now the prices are scandalous. I feel sorry for parents that are struggling, as their kids will want the latest kit of the team they support, probably football boots and tracksuits as well. Which just isn't possible as they cost a small fortune.
Go price out a shirt in any of the major american leagues. I wish they were $50 dollars.

Luton are traditionally a top flight club previously in the 50s and 80s into the 90s will be more likely to find Luton Town stuff up north than Brentford, Bournemouth and Brighton. Used to be a lot of Luton Town merchandise in the 1980's when Luton wore Adidas

Brighton, no chance up north even the club shops is empty 90% of the time, but those prices in general are obscene.
I understand that in general prices have been going up and pricing ppl out of supporting their club. Here in MLS their season tickets are more expensive than a lot of Premier Clubs and the MLS charges a stupid $196 for an authentic player kit.
Whaaat? That's nuts.
Is this due to attendances going up/down?
@@fhlostonparaphrase i think football (soccer) is slowly growing here in the states despite FO’s hostility towards supporters. But I think the price is just pure greed. The MLS has a contract with Addidas so no club can partner with another brand to workout a deal and MLS merch is partnered with Fanatics which is like a one stop shop for sports and I think they kinda push the prices. Clubs don’t really have a day in how much they charge for a kit.

This reminds me of when my parents went to Spain and asked if I wanted something, and since they are clueless when it comes to football I just said "bring me a kit in yellow and blue", thinking about Villarreal.
And they got me a Las Palmas kit instead...😆

In tarragona itself (club shop was shut) i went every sports shop i could find in town even specialist ones. Notning it was all barcelona or espanyol. One collector said she only had something in her private collection
