Just discovered and love your channel-you do a great job showing the passion and energy that is alive in the lower football leagues. The cost of attending matches is interesting as well-as a Yank living in England in the early seventies, I could see Arsenal on the Highbury terraces for about 1 pound and up to 4-5 pounds in a seat (a rare occurrence with my friend Larry Hale whose uncle was chief talent scout for Arsenal at the time.) Only cost about 30p on the tube from Northwood to Arsenal station. Lower league football was great, one of the best matches I recall was Cambridge United winning 3-2 against Oxford United to secure promotion to the 3rd Division. British Rail from Newmarket was maybe 2 pounds return. Such a great match with about 17,000 supporters stuffed into the ground, most of whom invaded the pitch at the end! The only time I was able to do that-thanks for the memories.
I really enjoyed this one. I'd rather watch National League or lower football league games than Premiership these days as the supporters are more genuine. Big shout out to York City and their owner. When the owner of my club, Southend United, didn't pay the wages of the team, the manager & coaching staff and worse, the backroom staff, the supporters donated to pay them and the York City owner sent £1000 of his own money to help. That's class and something our club will never forget.

Yh but Sunday league is very very different to non league, non league players well step 3-1 is closer to pro then Sunday league players even a lot of step 4 players

Great video. Encapsulates the joy of following Lower League/Non-League football. Have to admit I used to enjoy visiting grounds like Northwich Victoria. WItton Albion, Runcorn, Chester and Altrincham. Although back in those days we were talking £2 and £3 a ticket. And the Football Pink (you might be too young for that) was on-sale by the time I got home on the bus

Enjoyed the video. As a Stockport fan the National League is a really decent standard and well supported league for a 5th tier. Very tough league to get out of. Alty are going well at the moment with a couple of County loanees.
I read a stat somewhere that said since the national league were given 2 promotion spots, nobody has been relegated the year after promotion to League Two. Shows the levels. Thank you, by the way!

There’s a great video on I think it’s HITC Sevens channel about AFC Fylde where he labels them the “most hated non league club” but the investment they’ve had on their football and hockey complex is incredible

Great vid Nieve, love watching non league, plenty clubs near me such as the three Atherton clubs, i actually went to Atherton LR v FC St Helens the day before i went to Wembley for the Womens Euros Final at Wembley.
Alty is a nice club as you showed, love a day there, also have softspots for Lancaster City and when they were around Droylsden too.
Need to tick off a few more around me and schedule a trip to Lancaster to the Giant Axe 🪓. Often wish I could relieve that Euro final for the lionesses. Thank you Neil :)

Went to see Torquay United once. The passion from the fans were amazing. I compare it to league 2 too. When I went to Exeter City vs Port Vale last season, the verbal fights between the fans were sensational.
Haha! Yeah it’s fab because everyone gets on really well in the lower leagues to begin with, but it can flip in a moment, I love it!

Reminds me of when my dad used to take me to Watford in the early 70’s when they were really crap, crowds 4-5000 at a push, basically go where you wanted, cups of tea and burgers probably about 50p if that 😊

You ought to visit Hallam FC in the suburbs of Sheffield, the second oldest football team in the world playing at the oldest ground in the world. You’ll gain entry, can dine on pasty, chips, mushy peas and gravy, a pint of real ale / lager and and programme and still have change from a £20 note.
I was an American student in London in 1968, living in Chelsea. I went to the terraces at Stamford Bridge several times, and once at Arsenal. Within my student budget, maybe five or so shillings.

Such awesome atmospheres and something I wish I could experience. Unfortunately, we only really have the top and very commercialized levels of sport here even extending to the collegiate level. It's a bit a broken really as you'd easily burn through that $100 on the food alone.
I love non-league, I've been a season ticket holder at Ashington for a few years. £100 a year ticket. Fantastic days supporting the local club!

My local is in the 8th tier (I think) and they charge £10 entry, by memory it were £4-5 for a burger.

Since I experienced the "food" in the tents at the Open Golf in 2022 (at St Andrews too) I take my own food to every sports venue. I know it is depriving the clubs of extra revenue but most stuff available is junk. Maybe I should switch to supporting Norwich.

Never realised how expensive tickets are in the uk. You could visit 5 Bundesliga matches for 100 € (without food and drinks). A Dortmund ticket is like 18€.

last non league game i went to was 30 yrs at Dulwich hamlet was night before i moved to Australia and it was exactly one pound to get in and 50p for a program
