- Oh boy, it took us this long to finally get to Queen and WOW you couldn't have picked a better track to introduce yourself with... This was fantastic. Heavy as hell. Doom-y at points. Insanity. I had no idea lol

Queen could play as heavy as anyone out there when they wanted to.
Exactly, that’s why when different bands made a tribute album even Metallica contributed with a cover of *Stone Cold Crazy*
If you listen to Queen and Queen II .... they were mostly Prog and 70s metal, then they discovered Pop, and for a while thats what they did. I've seen them live with Freddie, Paul Rogers and Adam Lambert, and honestly they are the LOUDEST band I've seen.
@@davidmacfarlane1763 I saw queen with Thin Lizzy as the opening band in 1976, again in 1980 and with Paul Rodgers in 2005. I prefer the early queen
@@neillenet291 I was not a fan of them with Paul (he just was not a fit to me), but like them with Adam. A lot of people (like the owner of this video) don't really know the Queen catalogue, I had some jabroni try to say Michael Jackson was less Pop than Queen recently... kids.
@@davidmacfarlane1763 Yeah i'm not a fan of them with adam. Good singer. Not a good fit for my taste.
Queen is beyond genres.
Queen is genre their own genre, don't you think?
@@yvonnewakefield7748 i do, agreed
Death on two legs is another slept on track
Yes. Please do this. Death on 2 Legs. And also March of the Black Queen.
Wow..haven't heard that song for a long time...brilliant. .
Freddie's vocals kicked ass considering he could not even stand at the time
Not literally but he sure was weaker
@@andreshernandez1180 im just going by what Brian said in the interview idk
@@a.m.5541 The last video (These are the days of our lives) was filmed after making the record and he could still stand.
I guess it's kind of a moot point now to try and take one of the many Brian May interviews about those days as "that's what he said". It's been more than 30 years by now, those final years were traumatic for all the members of Queen, Brian was at very low points around that time, and I'm sure there's memories that are as clear as day in his mind, while other stuff is more of a fog. What we do know is that they continued recording for quite a while still after finishing the Innuendo album. We can also be quite sure that the last video recordings were probably done separately from the recording of the tracks they're for. There for sure were better and worse days in Freddie's last two years as well, which also has to be accounted for. But hell yes Freddie's voice is killer on that album.
I’d say Freddie’s vocals kicked in spite of not being able to stand. When this came out many - myself included - had no idea he was ill.
Everyone forgets this was a number 1 hit in the UK in 1991
Remember in Italy too
If you are not very familiar w/ Queen's non-radio tracks & want to see just how hard they can go check out Stone Cold Crazy.
One of the best covers was Metallica. Some years ago when I first discovered Queen, I heard Stone Cold Crazy and thought, did they steal it from Metallica?! No Ken, no they didn't. They freakin' wrote it!
QUEEN could play in any genre, and they usually did it better than anyone else! Amazingly, Freddie belted this one out even though he barely had the strength to stand.RIP. ☮
Liar, from their first album, Queen. The March of the Black Queen. Queen II. Princes of the Universe, A Kind of Magic. Subscribed.
Yes, a great selection, and White Queen Live at the Odeon Hammersmith 1976. The instrumental section in the middle is exceptional
I love the bass solo in Liar
Ogre Battle, Dragon Attack, Son & Daughter, Brighton Rock, It's Late, I Go Crazy.I can keep going & going!
If you thought Freddie sounded good here as he was dying, imagine the strength of his voice when he was younger and healthier.
I recommend March of the Black Queen and Brighton Rock and Prophets Song.
The _Innuendo_ album was Freddie's swan song, and it's fantastic -- probably their best album since the '70s.
Having said that, you can't go wrong with any of Queen's first five albums. They aren't necessarily prog rock, but definitely prog-adjacent.
You are so right the first 5 albums are just the best.
Agree with another comment regarding their first five albums. Heavy and lots of hidden gems.
Great King Rat and Liar STILL stand out for me.
“Stone Cold Crazy “ is a another heavy one from Queen , very good.
Oh absolutely! And especially their live at the rainbow 1974 version, honestly even heavier than the studio version.
early speed metal
The first 3 Queen albums are actually their heaviest. ALL their albums have at least a few good songs but my favorites include 'Keep Yourself Alive', 'Doing Alright', 'Liar', 'The Night Comes Down', 'Jesus', 'Father to Son', 'White Queen', 'Ogre Battle', 'March of the Black Queen', 'Seven Seas of Rhye', 'Brighton Rock', 'Killer Queen', 'Tenement Funster', 'Flick of the Wrist', 'Lily of the Valley', 'Stone Cold Crazy', 'Death on Two Legs', '39', 'Prophet Song', 'Millionaire Waltz', 'White Man', 'Teo Torriate' (and that just covers their1st 5 albums).
Freddie Mercury is the best frontman/singer /entertainer ever. (Has the best vocalsof anyone) Freddie is untouchable!!!!
Freddie is incomparable !
Brian May once said, Innuendo is produced because Freddie once said, he wants one time in his life write a song like „Kasmir“ (LED Zeppelin)! You can hear it is very familiar!!!
i didnt even know that but i thought that at the beginning
Innuendo is way more versatile and talented than Kashmir.
@@DeadnWoonAbsolutely
Yup, and Robert Plant tried and failed singing this at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert
Their first two albums rocked hard and are still my fave Queen LP’s.
You really need to visit some of Queen songs that weren't necessarily radio "hits"... they have an amazing catalog of music, from speed metal to rockabilly to gospel like songs... you can never pigeon hole Queen to one genre. Try White Queen, live 1975 Hammersmith Odeon.
Roger knocks it out. Of the ballpark on this piece!!! He is an awesome drummer!
'Sheer Heart Attack'
This album was Freddie's greatest achievement.
🙏 RIP 🙏
you are in for a surprise when you get to their earlier material
Early Queen is definitely the best way to go (through A Day At The Races, arguably News Of The World). But Innuendo was a fine return to form for the band before Freddie’s tragic passing. By the time they were recording this album, Freddie’s health was already failing, though his voice was strong as ever. But touring by the end of the decade was out of the question for Queen. So they never got to perform this song or album (nor its predecessor The Miracle) live with Freddie.
What a great story Queen is!! Couldn’t make that shit up…
and quick story about Steve, he was really close friend with Freddie so, Freddie, Roger and Brian were having a dinner at Steve's house and they played the album for him, leaving this song for the last, when he liked the song they asked him to play on it, he was nervous but those 3 loved it and they went straight to the studio to record
Start from the beginning, you'll not be disappointed.
I saw Queen in 1977. Every note perfect. The feeling of the crowd was total excitement! ♥️
I can only imagine how awesome the Queen shows were. Pure energy.
Great one! I also love I'm Going Slightly Mad and The Show Must Go On off this album too
I bought the CD in 1991 for cheap. Some days after that the news was spread that Freddie had died and the price for every fart Queen ha ever produced skyrocketed. This is the climax of the album but I like the whole album. What a farewell gift that was! And as already mentioned this is their best album since the 70es. But I don't only think about their first 5 albums. I like the following two as well. Especially "Jazz" is an album that is overlooked very often. But I like it among other reasons because there is some satirical stuff on it and with "Jealousy" one of the most beautiful they ever made- For "Bicycle Race" you should keep in mind to watch the video. It is special.
best song of Queen... amazing masterpiece .. one of the best songs of all time
Great track. Check out Brighton Rock - the killer track in Baby Driver.
The depth of Queen's music is mindboggling. A list of hard, heavy, arty and proggy stuff: Great King Rat, Liar, Son & Daughter, Jesus, Father to Son, Ogre Battle, March of the Black Queen, Brighton Rock, Flick of the Wrist, Now I'm Here, Stone cold Crazy, Death on two legs, sweet Lady, The Prophet's Song, BoRhap, Tie your mother down, Millionaire Waltz, White man, Sheer Heart attack, Fight from the inside, It's Late, Mustapha, Let me entertain you, dead on time, More of that Jazz, the hero, Gimme the prize, Princes of the universe, I want it all, Was it all worth it, Innuendo, headlong, the hitman...and more. Their pop/funk period didn't really start until the game (1980). hot space is a skip, the works is lame. If I were you I would dive into their 70s stuff chronologically,
the live versions of Hot Space are amazing... John and Freddie were into the black funk...
and the Flash Gordon ost / album has some great pieces.
I want it all... the extended one is great... Bijou
Great track! Would love to hear Prophet Song (Side 2, track 1, A Night at the Opera) - epic prog... :) can't go wrong with Queen!
A Night at the Opera is my favorite Queen album. Every tune is fantastic. "Death on Two Legs" is one of the great album-opening tracks.
Great suggestion. “Prophets Song” is such a cool banger of a tune.
There's another side to Queen beyond the radio hits.
If you think that was heavy for Queen, you'd be in for a few surprises... 🙂
Queen did some straight metal songs and are credited for the very first thrash metal song -> czcams.com/video/8yuIID1GcuE/video.html
Metallica covered that one and won a Grammy with it. ^^
Wow...and thats an understatement. Freddie's range is out of this world. He was amazing and I don't know how I missed going to see them live. Must listen to the entire album. Howes contrabution, superior as usual. They arrived at the right time in music and never looked back, until they lost Freddie.
Amazing!!
Great reaction!! You've just checked my #1 Queen song! Talk about going out on top - with an epic, proggy masterpiece! Have always loved Steve Howe's contributions to this, and the general message & dark tone of this piece.
If their heaviness is a surprise, then it's high time to delve into their early years, where it was quite common for them to rock out with a heavy, HEAVY track!
Future considerations: The Prophet's Song (their longest track ever - it's another masterpiece!), Stone Cold Crazy, Tie Your Mother Down, Brighton Rock, Son and Daughter, Ogre Battle, The March Of The Black Queen...for starters!! These guys could definitely do heavy! Cheers.
Gratis considerations.... also include Liar, Great king rat, Father to son, White Queen, all black side of Queen II, The millionaire waltz...
Queen sang every genre. Like around 300 songs
Queen….. The “Queen(s)” of prog. Yes, this IS prog 🥰…..
A must listen is "Ogre Battle" off of their second album "Queen II" It will definitely impress you.
Brother Man...wanna see one of the most iconic Live set in musical history...QUEEN , LIVE AID..1985.
The Hitman from this album is even heavier..
They spanned the completely serious to totally fun. I have never been disappointed in any of their songs . I'm so glad they continue with Adam in front. Couldn't be a better singer to pay tribute and bring his own phenomenal talent.
That transition from the fast part back to the slow part gives me goosebumps
There is soooomuch more!,,,, I can’t wait!!❤️🎼❤️🇬🇧
Anything live from their first two albums is fire! Hard rock at its peak
Tenement funster is also a heavy driver. From Sheer Heart Attack album. Great reaction!🎸
Queen 2 and Sheer Heart Attack are two albums you need to hear! Perhaps start with March of the Black Queen
Beautiful stuff. Great musicians. Great harmonies. Great composition. Thanks for reacting.
The Show Must Go On is epic from this album. Also Days of Our Lives. If you love Brian's guitar listen to Bijou as well. This song started with a jam and Roger wrote a lot of the lyrics. They started out in the early 70s being a very heavy band. The first 2 albums especially were very heavy. Stone Cold Crazy was considered the first thrash metal song.
Always reminded me of KASHMIR by Led Zeppelin which i consider one of the greatest rock songs in history and Innuendo has the same attitude hits pretty hard but Death On Two Legs from 1975 is on a whole other level
Dr. May really shreds on his “Starfleet Project” EP with Eddie Van Halen !
I've never even heard of that, it sounds awesome! I'll definitely check it out
And Steve Howe played some spanish guitar on the title track, too
I always felt this was Bohemian Rhapsody 2
Well, it was their second chart-topping single in the UK (after Bo Rhap)
March of the black queen. You’ll love this. It’s another queen you probably don’t know
My favorite band, beside Nightwish and my favorite Queen song, directly followed by the Prophet`s song........ and what a band it is........
The video to this us just amazing, best group ever. ❤️
Roger...be still my heart.☺️
I would say, try Princes of the universe.
I love Queen since I was 16 (I am 50 now) and all their albums are special to me. But Innuendo, being the last album before Fred passed away, is such a strong farewell. Some of my most favourite songs are from this album. Like Innuendo, Hitman, These are the days of ours lives, Show must go on.
It's Late and Was It All Worth It
I must see him hear, Live Aid concert nineteen eighty five by queen , Freddie for ever❤❤❤❤❤
Great, thanks! Now go back and watch the original video on your own time. Don't miss it!
My fairy king is amazing qith rogers vocals, queen are so versitile.seen them twice live. Breathtaking.
Great reaction! There is no bad Queen song . . .
Queen Live at the Rainbow - some early, very heavy Queen
both Brian and Steve are playing the flamenco guitar
The song was finished when Brian asked Steve to add some spanish guitar licks over what Brian already did
Queen has a lot of heavy songs....Gimme The Prize, Stone Cold Crazy, Ogre Battle, Tear It Up, Brighton Rock, Sheer Heart Attack, Was It All Worth It just to name a few. They could rock very hard.
Yess I love all of queens songs thanks for reacting dude😊😊
Finally, someone reacting to the music instead of a video. The video is to distracting to appreciate it's complexities and engineering. I turn 63 this year and remember thinking upon it's release, finally something to rival "A Night At The Opera". From the same album "Bijou" should be next, followed immediately by "The Show Must Go On" . Thank You.
Steve Howe is the only guest musician ever to play on a Queen song. I'm not including Bowie, obviously. If you want to hear some serious May guitar, check out Brighton Rock.
Joan Armatrading added vocals to 'Don't Lose Your Head', there was a harp player on Love of my Life.....
@@mooghead Brian May played harp on Love Of My Life.
Keyboard player Fred Mandel played the keyboard solo on "I want to break free" which Brian then played as a guitar solo on live performances.
@@chrisy8989 true dat
Mike Stone had a vocal appearance on Good Old Fashioned Loverboy.
It was really pleasure watching your Queen reaction 😊
Such a fantastic track. The vid is amazing as well. So creative.
Very good reaction! Next can be Invisile Man, Headlong, Hitman, We will rock you, Stone cold crazy, One vision and more...
The first 3 minutes + outro: Queen's "Kashmir".
One of my favourite Queen tracks. They are superb.
Also, check out ‘These Are The Days of Our Lives’.
Another one of my favourites, but for different reasons.
Freddie’s last video. Extremely sad.
🎶❤️🎶
Give a listen to Queen's "Ride the Wild Wind", or "Leave on Time", or "Let Me Entertain You" the list is endless.... they have dozens for everybody!
P.S. And bear in mind, this album came out 10 months before Freddie died. That album was the best they'd done since the old days, and you cannot tell that Freddie had so much as a cold. Less a legend than a Titan. RIP Freddie.
If you like this one you should give The Prophet's Song a try.
an fyi on Queen reactions. It is my understanding that you can download from the official Queen youtube channel without fear of blocking or strikes. Their live performances are amazing, Hope to see see more Queen on the channel.
Some of the hardest rock from Queen

Stone Cold Crazy
Sheer Heart Attack
Death On Two Legs
Let Me Entertain You
Tie Your Mother Down
Tear It Up
*Princes Of The Universe*
Gimme The Prize
I Want It All
Scandal
The Show Must Go On
I also highly recommend, though maybe not the "hardest" of rock by Queen
Keep Yourself Alive
In The Lap Of The Gods... Revisited
Don't Stop Me Now
If You Can't Beat Them
The Hero
Action This Day
I Go Crazy
One Vision
Breakthru
Headlong
If you want to hear another flamenco guitar duet like you heard with Brian May and Steve Howe, then I'd recommend Imagining by GTR, the band founded by Steve Howe and Steve Hackett. 😊
Or an electric guitar duet between Brian May and Steve Hackett on the latter's track called Cassandra, specifically the 1994 version with Hackett on lead vocals. 😊
May and Hackett worked on three tracks together: this one (which also has an earlier 1986 version with Chris Thompson from Manfred Mann's Earth Band on lead vocals), Slot Machine (both Thompson and May on lead vocals) and Don't Fall Away From Me.
Once again Lee, we are hearing this music for the first time! Problem for me is, I feel like I should know about it or have heard it by now, being the fan I say I am. It’s kind of cool actually. Your channel gets better every day!
I believe they took inspiration from Kashmir by Led Zeppelin for this, which if I didn't know I wouldn't have connected it, but after knowing it i can see it.
Their early albums were super heay and riffy. Some songs: Stone Cold Crazy, Ogre Battle, Prophets Song, Death on Two Legs, Sheer Heart Attack, Now I'm Here, It's Late, Princes of the Universe, and Brighton Rock are some good places to start.
I have been a hardcore Queen fan for decades.
For me, their best songs aren't even the radio hits. It's songs like Innuendo, March of the Black Queen, The Show Must Go On, Breakthru, Spread Your Wings, One Vision, Made In Heaven, Too Much Love Will Kill You and do many more.
I am happy to see that people realize there is more to Queen than Bohemian Rhapsody.
if you wanna listen to their heavier stuff then listen to „gimme the prize“, „stone cold crazy“, „was it all worth it“, „ogre battle“, „white man“ „i want it all“, „princes of the universe“, „fight from the inside“. „i‘m in love with my car“, „death on two legs“, „loser in the end“, „keep yourself alive“, „it‘s late“ and on and on. their catalogue is huge and diverse. it‘s a very steep and deep rabbit hole with many branches😉.
Brian can do anything.
If you want early epic heavy Queen then listen to Liar, Great King Rat, Ogre Battle, Brighton Rock, Stone Cold Crazy and Now I'm Here
One of a kind of amazing song is Ogre battle from Queen 2
This is one of my top 10 Queen songs.
If you really want to hear a heavy song, I would recommend Stone Cold Crazy, which was one of their earliest songs.
Goodness..if you dive into Queen's catalogue, you won't know which song to pick, they have so many variety to choose from that you feel like you don't want to pick at all 😆 😜 😅 😂 ,the moment you say this is my favorite song then you hear another one then your favorite song will never end 😆 🤣 .
Is "Sheer Heart Attack" considered speed metal? Either way, you'd probably like it. The whole News of the World album kicks ass, although I'd be fine if I never hear the first two tracks again...
It would be amazing if you were doing a full review of QUEEN II (yes - their second album, you would guess? 😄). It's a masterwork, before their hits but incredible from start to finish.
The video of this track is amazing - totally in synch with the music and lyrics, which are just as amazing! Do yourself a favour and watch it.
You want some heavy Queen songs? Here I give some to you:
Ogre Battle; Stone Cold Crazy; Great King Rat; Death On Two Legs; White Man; Sheer Heart Attack; and I could go on forever! They started as a hard rock band with great influences on Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple, but they quickly developed their own sound in their second album, which is their best IMO. They have lots of heavy songs!
Great reaction, new subscriber. Somebody else mentioned checking out liar live at the rainbow. I second that. If you haven’t already, most of the songs from live in Montreal, 1981 are amazing. A couple of my favorites are somebody to love and dragon attack.
Hey there Catherine! Great to have you. I'm definitely down for more Queen. This blew my mind! I will add those to my list. Thank you!
@@L33Reacts awesome! Another one I was thinking you might like is the song It’s Late. It’s a great song, and there are some really awesome transitions, and drum solos☺️
queens " I'm in love with my car" is pretty heavy and sung by Roger Taylor
Steve Howe from Yes on Spaning Guitar
I recommend if you dont know it: 'The March of the Black Queen' (maybe 'White Queen (As It Began)' and 'Killer Queen' if you want to know all the Queens), 'The Prophet's Song' (not so radio friendly songs), 'Death on Two Legs (Dedicated To.....'), ''39' (Brian May vocals), 'More of that Jazz' (Roger Taylor vocals).
When what you don't know and you learn...YOU GOTTA FIND OUT. Hope you will go beyond the hits. I think their 70s song catalogue will be up your alley. Two LIVE faves from the Rainbow 1974 include COLD STONE CRAZY and LIAR. Always fun to see the timetable in music.
If you like Brian's guitar work, with a heavier sound then I'd suggest Resurrection from his solo album Back To The Light. As a drummer, I'm sure you'd truly appreciate Cozy Powell backing him up on that song!
Love me some Steve Howe.
