Evere time I see one of those things driving down the street, have to kind of snicker. It looks like one of those vehicles out of a low budget, Glen Larson late 1970's Science fiction TV show like Battlestar Galactica. You know the "futuristic " vehicle on another planet that clearly was a plywood body over the top of an old pickup truck, hence the flat angular likes, because the body was made out of plywood.

It's illegal to have your 6" screen phone in you hand while driving but it's quite fine to be driving and scrolling through an 18" screen that's stuck onto your dash. What am I missing. Genuinely asking.
A phone screen is too difficult to read while driving, not to mention it's in your hand. A big screen is easier to use with just a glance.

I can tell you that it gets really old tapping the same spot on the screen multiple times while driving to get it to recognize you’re tapping it.
Once the honeymoon wears off in your Tesla you start to REALLY miss buttons and understand why they existed in the first place.
It’s all about a quick money grab. Same way you can get a ticket for not wearing a seatbelt

There’s a few minor mistakes I’d like to call out
1) AWD - Foundation Series is $100k. Non-foundation will start at $80k
2) Cyberbeast - Foundation series is $120k. Non-foundation series will start at $100k
3) High mode will not give you the full 17” of ground clearance. For that you need to go into off-road mode and put it in, I believe it’s called “extraction” mode. Then it will be 17” but you cannot go more than like 20 or 25mph. If you do it will lower and take itself out of off-road mode.
So basically buyers are signing up for the same insane depreciation as the Model S and X and the higher end German electrics. I live in the Bay Area and am already seeing several of these each day. They must be really cranking them out.

Great review, always feel like i’m seeing a vehicle reviewed for the first time with Ratti. My favorite part, with the frunk, he doesn’t say what type of luggage or if a set a golf clubs can fit, he tells you 33 BOXES OF TWINKIES fit! Haha great stuff Ratti!

I loved that too! Ever since I read a Car & Driver article in the early 80s about wrapping meat and potatoes in aluminum foil and cooking them on a car of that era’s exhaust manifold while driving I’ve wanted to try that. $100k Tesla grille -sounds like a fun tailgate party.
Joe - seems like some of those corners are really sharp looking. If you lived with a CT in your garage, how long until you took some stitches, do you think?
The augmented driving view is crazy nice! I actually appreciate how accurate it is (box truck size was comparable).

Driving over water, upwards of 6 to 8 times a day... MY biggest fear is a crash ending up down below... HOW would you break the glass?!

How's the driving position? Maybe it was the camera, but it looked like your arms were fully extended and barely reaching the steering wheel.
It was the camera angel. Super comfortable.
Seat comfort is my biggest question. Seat doesn’t look very adjustable

If you are zonking the manually raising tailgate, then its soft closing feature should eliminate the zonk.
Joe, please start noting the location of the rear view mirrors in the vehicles you review. Every vehicle I've sat in over the last few weeks looking around they're right in my line of sight (at 6' 3") and obstruct the view of the road, particularly when making right turns. The only vehicle I've found that has the mirror high enough is the Ford Mustang. (Jeep Grand Cherokee is awful, it's in the middle of the windshield!) And yes, I've lowered the seats as far as they go, and for the mirrors that actually DO adjust (most don't anymore) I've raised them as high as they can go. I can't believe it's not a DOT mandate that the mirrors can raise up a few inches so they don't obstruct the view of tall drivers. Major safety issue (and annoying as hell)

the first thing I noticed was the stainless steel surfaces creating harsh lighting on skin tones and the squinting eyes ... like a giant reflector; would the Twinkies survive in the frunk? never mind, Twinkies should survive because they're filled with preservatives; nostalgic reference to metal lunch boxes w/ thermoses in the side bins! effortless speed run to 95 mph in that segment; CT is a celebrity car with the attention it attracts .... please review the new versions of the Porsche Macan EV and/or the Taycan in the future!

Really close call at 26:17. The red blind spot light was on in the pillar and flashing, and for further redundancy / warning the left camera had the red warning border. The car that was there had to brake to avoid you, could have been a really bad situation.
I foresee that a lot of us old timers will get into accidents due to the huge distraction that a big screen in front of you provides....
we can drive our ICEs non stop for hours w/o problem but we really have a hard time ignoring a screen...😁

Had to look up the inspiration for the truck. Can see the blade runner vibe to the exterior. I have friends who love their Teslas but the minimalistic design isn’t for me. The lack of view outside of a back camera would make too nervous. Also I want a physical direction stalk.
I think if I could afford or wanted an ev truck. I’d probably look towards the Silverado or the Rivian once they adapt to the Tesla charge port.

I live in the suburbs of Dallas. I have seen this truck twice. I was shocked at how small it was. I thought it would be larger. It's not small. I thought it would be like the size of a Silverado.

I work a mile away from the gigafactory in Nevada. They have a cybertruck on a continuous loop. Pulling a trailer with blocks of concrete. It got stuck in the snow back in December right next to a corolla.

Foundation or Founders Series is just a term used to justify high priced early editions, sometimes with limited edition colors or special features.
I would like to see follow up review down the road so to speak. Since the Cybertruck was designed to work without side view mirrors, it would be interesting to see how the vehicle performs with them removed.

I saw this in person my gosh, i thought i was dreaming like i was in a mad max movie, beautiful big vehicle But if i had to choose ill go with the GMC Hummer electric.
I love big strange different muscle vehicles. I looked at it. I love the look, ill love to drive it once.

Nope! That interior is not the least bit welcoming looking. I think spartan is a more apt description than minimalist. My Polestar 2 is minimalist, and the hatch opens AND closes automatically. I can't imagine what it costs to insure.

The “minimalistic” screen, actually feels like a cluster of an overwhelming amount of apps. If I want to turn on the a/c I prefer to directly touch it, instead of going through 3 different screen segments to finally find the a/c controls. Seems like it can get very annoying, very fast.

Edit: also, no dial to control the touchscreen? This removes the luxury feel. A dial is a MUST for such an expensive vehicle. Imaging paying +$100k just to be leaning forward like an idiot trying to touch a screen thats too far away. The luxury and comfort of having a dial should definitely be included for that price point

Dual motor version (as reviewed) has 600 HP, does 0-60 mph in 4.1 sec, 112 mph top speed, 340 mile range (~318 with the all-terrain tyres fitted). Tri-motor version has 845 HP, does 0-60 mph in 2.6 sec, 130 mph top speed, 320 mile range (~ 300 with the all-terrain tyres).
