I think vram is seeming to be more and more important for gaming than the regular ram. In some demanding games, 8 gen of vram isn’t enough if you want to play on high settings. But the RAM being 16gb isn’t showing signs of becoming outdated in a few years

I don’t test that game. But if you’re playing in low settings I think you can max out the screen in either. In competitive shooters I’m usually playing on the lowest settings anyway to maximize frames and decrease latency
@consumertechwarehouse thanks. I'm coming from a desktop 4080 so just worried I will be disappointed in performance with g16 4090 but I will give it a try. Thanks for the reply
Yes you can in ARMOURY crate. But as the reply stated, the laptop won’t turn on the dGPU unless it needs to once you’re in the standard profile in ARMOURY crate
I bought the 4090 variant and had to return it, unfortunately It's not a terrible product by any means, it's just it's meant for a specific group of people who want a laptop to do some productivity, and then do light gaming at the end of the day It's not meant for hardcore gaming sessions like running Cyberpunk 2077 on Path Tracing or playing MW3 MP for long game sessions because the fans and heat do turn up noticeably, even with a laptop cooler The OLED screen is absolutely gorgeous, there's no denying that, and it's buttery smooth. Again, for gaming, don't expect to do long gaming sessions and NOT hear the fan.
I definitely agree if you’re buying a laptop for 90% gaming you may be served with something else. The scar 16 for example if you want to stick with Asus is a better dedicated gaming machine. It’s thicker and heavier but it’s meant to handle more
There’s not a single gaming laptop that doesn’t have the fans going during long gaming sessions, especially when getting full power from the gpu. Seems like you need a desktop and not a laptop.
While it can definitely be viewed as upsetting that Asus left a lot of watts on the table with the 4090 when compared to other 4090 laptops like the Razer Blade & MSI Titan, it could also be seen with the contrasting positive that a similar build of the Razer Blade is 25% more expensive. I would also hope that stressing the 4090 less means greater longevity of the hardware as well; so you'd have a top-spec laptop for the next year+ and a very functional laptop when it gets longer in the tooth 4+ years from now. Most Razers I've encountered have a significantly shorter lifespans when they are used and abused as a daily driver & gamer: I don't mean that as a knock on Razers at all, but rather a statement of when you run something at redline constantly it will obviously break down sooner. Plus the G16 just looks beautiful as well.
ASUS laptops are sadly cheap laptops with lots of software and firmware malfunction. There are multiple people like me with failing 2024 Zephyrus devices. I went through 2024 G16 RTX 4090 laptops and they are always failing/overheating/throttling and come with quality control issues. ASUS paid a lot of influencers to hype that laptop up. Settled with this years Razer Blade 16. Couldn't be happier!
I've always thought it's so silly how people complain about how loud a PC/laptop is. My boy. In Winter of 2016 I was using the dust-insulated jet engine of an Xbox 360 to heat my house when we were too poor to afford a working AC. xD And these days? We're always wearing noise cancelling headphones anyways? You're never going to hear it anyways?? My only thing is fearing whether it's actually being cooled or not. So I got myself one of those external intake fans. Improves GPU temps by like, 10-degrees on my current laptop. I'm upgrading from a GTX1050 that someone had given to me for free. It just can't run anything modern.. and the mousepad is busted. And I wanna have a laptop with better specs than my PC - just because laptops don't perform as well. My PC has a 3070 with an i7-17700K CPU? And I'm gonna grab the G16 4070 version used on Amazon for $1500. :3 I'll also be getting a cheap Windows Tablet, so I can have a dual monitor setup on the go! Coding Major & someone that likes to game on the road.
I lov ethis laptop. I have the 4090, but I must admit, the laptop gets hot as sh*t when the 4090 is going. Battery life is great when on Optimus or integrated GPU mode.
I cannot agree with your assessment of the screen wobble. I find it to be very noticeable and, compared to the 2024 Razer Blade 16, the G16's build quality is significantly worse. It feels like I only have to look at the G16 and the screen wobbles. This effect is amplified when using the G16 on an arm, which is a realistic scenario for me. Additionally, my trackpad has a significant amount of rattling. I can understand your observations about the GPU's performance in Cyberpunk, but not the CPU's! My Intel Core 9 Ultra underperforms. You also show 35W, but my CPU thermal throttles and is constantly above 94°C at that wattage, no matter what I do. I have tried everything. Furthermore, I would not consider 5000 RPM fans that are thin to be quiet at all. I find them to be painfully loud. The 2024 Razer Blade 16 with RTX 4090 is significantly quieter, as you know yourself. Additionally, the tonality of the fans in the 2024 G16 is worse than in the 2024 Razer Blade. In my opinion, the 2024 ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 is not at all mature. You can't cheat physics. It's too thin. This thinness has also given ASUS an excuse to no longer include more than 32GB of RAM. Additionally, ASUS laptops come with a lot of bloatware. Armoury Crate looks hideous and is overloaded. Only GHelper can help. There are so many ASUS processes running in the background that they cause micro-interrupts. Overall, the 2024 ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 is a flawed and disappointing laptop. Also I saw a girl in the ASUS discord complaining about the exact same thing. She just got mocked and clowned at. Really nice community, ASUS. But it looks like I am not the only one. I never ever had a laptop this bad.
This entire post is a joke. As someone that actually owns the G16 the screen wobble isn't noticeable at all. This blows away the razer. Good luck with that buddy.
Theory: G14 with 4080/4090 is overheating a lot at certain games and throttles/reduces TGP rather quickly. It was too much for such a small chassis that’s why I sold mine with the 4090 last year. Too hot and performance was good for a short Time Spy run, but degraded fast after longer use.
If you look at 4k, it does better than the 4070, but the loss occurs at qhd and 1080p when the CPU is being used more. It’s either thermal throttling, Intel has a performance edge in this game, or dynamic boost is pushing more watts to the GPU.
Personally, I moved from x16 2022 to g16 2024 and I like everything so far. Oled > miniled, thickness and weight are considerably better too as well as metal body. In terms of performance g16 is obviosly faster but it's on par with x16 2023 (if we talk about 4070 vs 4070).
I have the 4070 variant, i9 985h. It gets so fucking hot I could probably cook eggs in the surface below the screen. Welp, I just accepted it and moved on. I don't know how long does this laptop will last. Unacceptable.
So base on you, reviewers should not mention and comparing Noise lvl, heat, etc with other laptops just because is normal to hear max out fan noise? That's ridiculous, you reviewers should always push companies to truly cut edges all the times and not just accept it. The only reason I don't get a gaming laptop is because of the noise, most of us hate fan noise!
Then check out the Alienware m16 r2. It’s a lot heavier and thicker but has better cooling components to keep it quiet. There’s trade offs to everything. Especially when it comes to gaming laptops.
Could you review the 2024 vector 16x with i9 14900hx rtx 4080? With the new display? Maybe compare it to the unvaxed 2023 ghetto 144hz display variant?
I really wanted to love the G16 4090 (2024) but unfortunately the GPU is not even close to the e.g. Razer Blade 16 OLED with 4090 GPU. The Razer really shows how important the wattage on the GPU is. They should have gone with at least 130-140W. If you have the choice I would go with the Razer. Sidenote: The speakers on the G16 are just incredible good. What I have seen the Razer can push maximum wattage for combined workloads 205-220W and the G16 only 130 - 140W. This is a very huge differnce and you will notice that when the system is unter load (CPU and GPU)
Blade 16 is a mirror destroying all fun if it’s not dark. Too reflective. You can enable 125W with G-Helper even in Performance mode. Then it will extremely close to your targeted 130W.
@@tinybit780 90% you don't notice the mirror screen. Only when you look for it or staring at a very black screen. My money goes to the much more expensive blade now. It really is that much better and more worth it. The G16 has not been a good experience so far. Its buggy too.
@@Neekzu I had the Blade 16 and returned it only because of that because I noticed it a lot. I really tried hard until the last day of being able to return it. There are more comments like mine on reddit, Discord etc. Of course, if you'll use it to drive an external monitor or only play in a completely dark room, then you'll not notice it. In such a situation I'd highly recommend the Blade 16!
Complains about the 4070 model being hot and loud compared to the 4090 vapor chamber model, then rants about "other" youtubers complaining that the same laptop is hot and loud 🤣. Can't keep on invoking physics to treat all gaming laptops the same. It sounds very unintelligent. There's more than one way to cool a laptop. It's not a static line of size versus power. A lot goes in the design, and bigger does not mean better, nor louder equals cooler. I'm glad the mainstream reviewers are doing these "amateur" reviews. It popularizes gaming laptops so we have more choice. But most importantly, it pushes gaming laptop manufacturers out of their comfort zone by introducing more scrutiny. For the longest time, they have indulged in bad habits and stagnation. Garbage tier speakers, plastic trackpads, creaky cheap cases, dull lifeless screens, potato cams, poop battery, etc. And people have similarly been justifying these deficiencies for years, because it's a "gaming laptop" and something something physics. Acer is literally releasing 18" behemoth laptops with trash speakers and a thick profile even though 30% of the internal volume is empty space, because all they did was extend their 16" version, the height of laziness and low effort. MSI has a similar track record of wastefulness. There's no good reason a Windows gaming laptop shouldn't run like a MacBook outside of gaming. If Apple ever becomes serious with gaming compatibility using their ARM based SoCs, the whole gaming laptop market will be threatened. The efficiency of their chips is just so much better in comparison. Sorry we don't need a jet engine to power everything.
There’s some good points here. But you can’t compare the g16 to the MacBook even outside of gaming. The MacBook has a total thermal output of 80 watts which will generate way less heat than the g16 which pushes the GPU up to 125 watts alone and another 45 watts to the CPU. Intel and Nvidia are on a 7 nm process while Mac is on a 3. Once they start to catch up, then we’ll get much more efficient machines. And the manufacturers want to do more and make the best laptops but they’re waiting on the chip makers and windows to catch up.
I def agree you really have to be careful with alot of reviewers they literally dont know shit and will overhype any laptops they can get their hands on like even a 4060 they will act like its great to play tripple a games on at ultra settings its def alot of genz honestly. Hell they will even try to justify the over priced macbooks. It doesn't stop there either other stuff like earbuds and other tech its the same story too. They test everything on and iphone and act like thats giving earbuds a fair advantage when iphone only supports shitty codec and no high res audio but the best earbuds needs high res if you paying all that money.

I prefer louder fans while gaming vs a laptop that burning itself from the inside out that i spent 4k on 1tb with lol
Should I get the asus g16 with 4070 , or the transcend 14 with 4060, or the hp spectre 16 worth 32gb ram and 4050? I'll mainly watch videos and sometimes maybe play warzone and fortnite. And maybe other games but mostly cod and fortnite. Which one should I get?
They’re both on sale right now for the same price and fantastic value. I haven’t checked out the transcend yet. If I had to choose one, I’d choose the asus g16 easily. It’s one of my favorite laptops this year if you don’t mind the chassis getting warm when doing intense gaming sessions
Is the 4070 worth it
Are the fans to bad
@sadboykratos5137 yeah. If you’re in the US $1699 for the 4070 at Best Buy is an excellent deal. I really think you’ll be happy with it.
@@consumertechwarehouse ok thank you
Question for you. If I only cared about performance for cod and fortnite. Should I take a rog g16 4090 or a razor blade 16 4080?
I don’t test that game. But if you’re playing in low settings I think you can max out the screen in either. In competitive shooters I’m usually playing on the lowest settings anyway to maximize frames and decrease latency
@consumertechwarehouse thanks. I'm coming from a desktop 4080 so just worried I will be disappointed in performance with g16 4090 but I will give it a try. Thanks for the reply
@MiromaTube oh you definitely won't get the same performance. It'll be like 30% less maybe more. But still more than playable
can this g16 disable the discreet graphic card so as to have the battery last longer?
Most gaming laptops use the iGPU unless you're plugged in or specifically launch an app in the dedicated gpu mode
Yes you can in ARMOURY crate. But as the reply stated, the laptop won’t turn on the dGPU unless it needs to once you’re in the standard profile in ARMOURY crate
I bought the 4090 variant and had to return it, unfortunately
It's not a terrible product by any means, it's just it's meant for a specific group of people who want a laptop to do some productivity, and then do light gaming at the end of the day
It's not meant for hardcore gaming sessions like running Cyberpunk 2077 on Path Tracing or playing MW3 MP for long game sessions because the fans and heat do turn up noticeably, even with a laptop cooler
The OLED screen is absolutely gorgeous, there's no denying that, and it's buttery smooth.
Again, for gaming, don't expect to do long gaming sessions and NOT hear the fan.
What would you recommend for gaming ?
I definitely agree if you’re buying a laptop for 90% gaming you may be served with something else. The scar 16 for example if you want to stick with Asus is a better dedicated gaming machine. It’s thicker and heavier but it’s meant to handle more
There’s not a single gaming laptop that doesn’t have the fans going during long gaming sessions, especially when getting full power from the gpu. Seems like you need a desktop and not a laptop.
Just returned mine due to fans and thermals terrible gaming laptop
What would the battery life be like for light to medium web browsing and office work?
Really looong
Great review!! What is this sniper game? Seems to be the best combination between performance and noise....Thx!
My 4070 variant crapped out already :\
What happened?
rly, what happened?
ASUS laptops are sadly cheap laptops with lots of software and firmware malfunction. There are multiple people like me with failing 2024 Zephyrus devices. I went through 2024 G16 RTX 4090 laptops and they are always failing/overheating/throttling and come with quality control issues. ASUS paid a lot of influencers to hype that laptop up. Settled with this years Razer Blade 16. Couldn't be happier!
Hey I'm curious, what happened?
Pls which of the site did you buy this laptop??
Best Buy in USA
I'm currently in Nigeria, I checked most of the sites, but can only see the white color of the laptop.... I'd love to order the black one
I'll also be getting a cheap Windows Tablet, so I can have a dual monitor setup on the go! Coding Major & someone that likes to game on the road.
You are amazing
Do they take 15% from you when you return them?
Not if it's unopened/defective
Does the rubber foot nearest to the bottom vents creak for you when pressed? I just got this same laptop and it's been bothering me.
I didn’t notice that on mine
Thorttling at 35w, did you use hwinfo to monitor that?

@@Neekzu defected laptop, I would say
This entire post is a joke. As someone that actually owns the G16 the screen wobble isn't noticeable at all. This blows away the razer. Good luck with that buddy.
15:00 makes no sense. how is the 4080 in the g14 performing worse than the 4070 in the g16?
Theory: G14 with 4080/4090 is overheating a lot at certain games and throttles/reduces TGP rather quickly. It was too much for such a small chassis that’s why I sold mine with the 4090 last year. Too hot and performance was good for a short Time Spy run, but degraded fast after longer use.
If you look at 4k, it does better than the 4070, but the loss occurs at qhd and 1080p when the CPU is being used more. It’s either thermal throttling, Intel has a performance edge in this game, or dynamic boost is pushing more watts to the GPU.
U think this is a better buy than the rog flow x16?
Personally, I moved from x16 2022 to g16 2024 and I like everything so far. Oled > miniled, thickness and weight are considerably better too as well as metal body.
In terms of performance g16 is obviosly faster but it's on par with x16 2023 (if we talk about 4070 vs 4070).
Yes. I would only buy an x16 if you plan on using the XG Mobile or need a touch screen
The smack book is limited unfortunately. It's a great computer 🖥️ < is that a computer?
Is the 4070 silent on idle? Is the 4080 better?
None of them really are silent. 4070 is never silent. Vapour Chamber versions are quiet but not silent.
@Neekzu thanks a ton!
Why no Ram Upgrade :(
I have the 4070 variant, i9 985h. It gets so fucking hot I could probably cook eggs in the surface below the screen. Welp, I just accepted it and moved on. I don't know how long does this laptop will last. Unacceptable.
The slash light is irritating 😞
Does it wibble though?
Can you review Alienware laptops ? thank you!
Especially when it comes to gaming laptops.
can you also recommend a cooler for this laptop, that is available in india ❤
@@NeekzuI have both and the Blade 16 is 100% way too glossy. Almost unusable when I'm outside.

The verdict is still not reached with this super thin 😕 laptop 💻 < a laptop artist rendition?
What about screen wobbling is it problem at all?
Since when 60 days is a long term
That’s how long it’s been out. Can’t make it any longer term of a review just yet 😀
There is a certain blend of bs when considering a 💻 < that's an artist's rendition of a laptop?
hahaah you're actually the real one i've seen from all the youtube
I def agree you really have to be careful with alot of reviewers they literally dont know shit and will overhype any laptops they can get their hands on like even a 4060 they will act like its great to play tripple a games on at ultra settings its def alot of genz honestly. Hell they will even try to justify the over priced macbooks. It doesn't stop there either other stuff like earbuds and other tech its the same story too. They test everything on and iphone and act like thats giving earbuds a fair advantage when iphone only supports shitty codec and no high res audio but the best earbuds needs high res if you paying all that money.
Asus really got a lot right with the G16 this year. It would be almost perfect if it had a 140-150 watt rtx 4090. Keep up the detailed reviews.
Long term review? How about 6 months, that is a realistic long term.
It hasn’t been out for 6 months yet.
