That's because a stick is the best weapon. Everywhere and easily usable. Doesn't even need to be sharp. Just heavy enough so when you bonk someone, they get hurt badly
If it’s an actual katana, it might not be a terrible plan. Never know what you’ll encounter and guns aren’t always accessible to campers. If it’s these katanas… it’s a terrible plan.
Some RL weapons had this as attempts to lighten the overall weight, hence the so-called blood groove. Im surprised for mall trash in that the holes are actually in a semi-reasonable location, unlike near the handle or edge like Ive seen before
If the word ‘tactical’ is in any product I buy I have the opinion that it’s a 50/50 chance of being half decent or just terrible. It’s just showy “tacticool” stuff that makes you feel like a badass when you’re a kid but is the kind of thing that is just awkward to own when you’re older.
Do you have an opinion on the ones with just a wrapped tang for a handle? I'm assuming if all you have is this quality, the full handle would be a liability?
Honestly I'd buy one just for the sheath. Then take it to an actual blade smith and have them forge it using the crappy stainless steel ones as a sort of guide. Then I have reliable survival katanas that won't break and have a nice sheath. Win win.
The only good scene from this show I saw called "Daybreak" where the MC tries using a mall katana to cut off someones hand. It got stuck in the thumb joint and the guy that got cut ran away with it still stuck in his hand
You got that last line from LockPickingLawyer I swear _After taking 10 seconds to pick a Masterlock:_ "That held up longer than I thought but the bar was pretty low"
In the future when we have super medicine and are functionally immortal I want to see full on blood-sport arenas where the combatants fight with shitty mall ninja weaponry. It would be cool.
Went to a flea market last weekend and saw a guy selling knives and "Samurai swords". Half his sword stock were these exact ones, the rest were cheap katanas and of course half his knives were karambits
I am on the sixth month of constantly requesting a Fable 2 weapon review on any of the unique weapons. I'm happy you saw my previous, but I will persist until I hear of a possible release!
This is why i prefer my ax. Even if the blade is a little dull, with the weight and power behind it, anything you target is gunna be in two pieces one way or another. Just sometimes the cut isnt very clean and smooth
Stainless steel seems to be fine for smaller blades, like those on knives, but not for longer, and especially thinner blades. I did hear that because it is softer, it is easier to sharpen. Could be a good inexpensive beginner sword, if not abused.
Everyone talks bad on stainless steel. By it has uses. If I'm backpacking all my knives are stainless, so they don't rust and they're cheap so I can ditch them without much loss if I fall in a river.
@Marcus Vance I don't disagree, but I hear it about knives, too. And i was just pointing out one use of it. I apologize, I may not have worded myself right.
When I was a kid I wanted a gladius (like pompeii type). I eventualy got it. But sadly as an adult. On the other hand it was made by bladesmith and totaly worth waiting.
To be fair I wouldn't want a regular Katana in a survival situation either. It probably nick and dent easily on anything I'd need to cut. Be a pain to carry. Hell to upkeep. And I'd love to see what happened to the person who tried to out swing a bear with it.
That's a bad blade then. Imagine someone drawing a sword like that, hitting you with it and it just stops at a quarter inch in your skin before the tang snaps and the blade falls from the handle. You'd think you were invincible.
I have a proper gladius, high carbon steel, with a full tang, because it's not stainless steel I have to clean up periodically Quite therapeutic actually
Can confirm that the second I got myself some adult money I bought myself one of these little wacky knives. Do yourself a favor get yourself a hammer for defense LOL crush your competition
I have one of these and it's a fucking monster. Full tang with duck tape wrapped around it. Cut open my thumb and gave me a gnarly scar and stabbed my uncle to his bone. Super sharp and I still have it!
Let me put on my nerd glasses- It's actually Itachi not katana. As katana's are mid weapon with a curve but itachi is short short range weapon without a curved and for a extra fact there is another cousin of katana called odachi (it's a long range weapon with a curved). So, no it's not a tactical katana, it's actually tactical itachi
It's definitely better than nothing but you could definitely do better. The thing with mall ninja swords is they're purely for display however the edgy teens want to cut with it and the sellers want you to think you can cut with it. Honestly having a cool sword is nice but if you want something more reliable go to your local hardware story and get something from there if you're keen on "apocalypse/zombie" survival or wilderness survival.
Lol. I have a machete my mom gave me. Good machete, use it more than any other blade I have. Granted all of them work great for brush and thickets. That however? I have my serious doubts.
life hack use a sledgehammer, or Warhammer anywhere you hit is a crippling blow its easy enough to use, you make big hammer go SLAM no training needed, you can learn as you use it.
"survival" like for surviving what? Wanna see this fancy blade survive outdoors condition + I can think of hundred more useful survival weapons than a fucking katana.
YOOO I seen a guy in the MIDDLE of the city whip one of these exact swords, with the red blade n all, outta his pants n chase a crack head down the street for buggin him.
I mean they’re still steel… idk what you mean by you’re surprised that they didn’t already break. I mean I understand compared to real swords it’s weak and all. But it’s still stainless steel. I didn’t see anything in the video that I would expect to break it. But idk I wasn’t there so I won’t judge you too harshly. I enjoy your videos. I was just thinking, it’s still steel. Not copper or brass. But maybe you meant chip not break break.
If THAT is a *tactical surviving* katana then I would be dead in the first day
*tacticool
I got so drunk i bought one, so i made a mold using it, to make a better one
Wait... If you can use a weapon to destroy itself... Is it strong or is it weak?
Haha 1* rarity sword
Ever since I started watching you, I learned that pretty much the best weapon you can have is just a sharp stick.
Or just get a gun
I prefer bonk stick myself.
I have heavy rock ans high place
That's because a stick is the best weapon. Everywhere and easily usable. Doesn't even need to be sharp. Just heavy enough so when you bonk someone, they get hurt badly
@@wolfesbane4263 You need ammo for that. No need for ammo with a stick.
It would seem the bar was on the floor lol
More likely closer to the Earth's core.
And here most of these things are with a shovel
You should review the feasibility of fallout melee weapons, I think it'd be pretty cool
Agreed, most reasonable one has to be the spear from 76
Would love to get your take on the main characters swords in the movie "sword of vengeance"
If you know someone who wants to take a katana with them when they go camping I suggest you let nature take its course.
If it’s an actual katana, it might not be a terrible plan. Never know what you’ll encounter and guns aren’t always accessible to campers. If it’s these katanas… it’s a terrible plan.
Why are there hollowed out portions of the blade? Seems like a structural weakness to me.
Because it's kinda cool
yes and no, they add complexity that is not needed given you do not use them as pry bars *where the spine cut outs would make sense.

In England those are still considered weapons of mass destruction
Damn Mall Ninjas
Do you have an opinion on the ones with just a wrapped tang for a handle? I'm assuming if all you have is this quality, the full handle would be a liability?
I haven't found any that are comfortable, but at least they're full tang
Grip is the sole job for a handle. If its uncomfortable, then it fails.
The "ding" when drawing it and hitting stuff is very satisfying though
I wonder what your thoughts would be on resistance/killzone guns
but at least it looks kinda Cool.

I'd definitely die surviving in the jungle using that than my grandpas Machete 🙁
This is why the best weapon is thick metal club. Doesn't break.
Making blanket statements about stainlessness steel is gonna trigger all the steel snobs
You got that last line from LockPickingLawyer I swear

Betting it would just devolve into a mutual agreement to drop your swords and fight with fists half the time
@@dontkickmychick6076 they have to use their weapons until they break apart.
Those handles look less ergonomic than lightsabers
Today on, Mr. Vance has not covered the Fire Emblem Three Houses Heroes Relics

Kinda find it funny when mentioning the small tang, it like cuts very quickly as though saying a bad word.
This is why i prefer my ax. Even if the blade is a little dull, with the weight and power behind it, anything you target is gunna be in two pieces one way or another. Just sometimes the cut isnt very clean and smooth
This swird give katanas a bad name🤣
Katanas give katanas a bad name
Always wanted these in middle school 😂
Can always appreciate you spending your money to prove your point, keep up the good work 👍
1. just sharpen it
2. If you have an intruder a 3ft long razor does the trick very well
Betcha there are straight up bubbles in tha metal. Good thing the "tang" was cruddy enough to give first😂
Me when I have my machete
Could you test the sharp katanas from mini katana next?
Stainless steel seems to be fine for smaller blades, like those on knives, but not for longer, and especially thinner blades.
I did hear that because it is softer, it is easier to sharpen. Could be a good inexpensive beginner sword, if not abused.
Love that ring sound at unsheathing so much 🥰🔥
Can you do the Teno vs the Gardens
Just curious how effect Zodd’s sword would from berserk.
The sheath of these swords kinda reminds me of Aoshi’s dual kodachi scabbard from the Rurouni Kenshin anime.
Those kinds of swords are extremely dangerous
I DO keep one in my room I bought it for my birthday👏🏾🙌🏾😌
I present to you, I machete. That thing is literally just a worse machete, but I’d also be fine using a kukri.
That looks more like a Ninjato anyway, no curve. Ain’t a Katana without a curve
Everyone talks bad on stainless steel. By it has uses. If I'm backpacking all my knives are stainless, so they don't rust and they're cheap so I can ditch them without much loss if I fall in a river.
They can look nice and resist rust. Better in knives than swords.
@Marcus Vance I don't disagree, but I hear it about knives, too. And i was just pointing out one use of it. I apologize, I may not have worded myself right.
You be better off using a club if anyone tried to use it as a sword
Relateable
When I was a kid I wanted a gladius (like pompeii type). I eventualy got it. But sadly as an adult. On the other hand it was made by bladesmith and totaly worth waiting.
Somthing your mother gets you for Christmas because she doesn't understand
What is the best steel to make a sword out of in modern times?
I prefer a large bayonet paired with a smaller work knife.
Well, if that's the case. Best i go down to my local hardware and buy a cutlass and file
To be fair I wouldn't want a regular Katana in a survival situation either. It probably nick and dent easily on anything I'd need to cut. Be a pain to carry. Hell to upkeep. And I'd love to see what happened to the person who tried to out swing a bear with it.

someone should make a quality one tbh
There are perfectly fine stainless steel knives clearly these just aren't heat treated
Ontario knife. No exception.
As a teen i wouldn't want that. I want sleep and rest from school :)
I'm so glad I never spent money on one of these even though teen me was eying them a lot on ebay
Nah, when I was a teen I wanted a Zweihänder. Because why settle for either a sword or a spear when you can have both?
could resident evil characters survive Warhammer 40k
I thought we already made them a while ago and called them machetes
I have a proper gladius, high carbon steel, with a full tang, because it's not stainless steel I have to clean up periodically

Bent swords can be bend back better to have a softer sword then one that will shatter
