    This is a really nice watch, the hands and the general character giving it a bit of Parmigiani vibes, at least for me. The caliber is good looking, precise and in-house and the bracelet is exceptional. The only thing that may prevent me from buying one is that the indices are only printed. I own an enamel watch where this obviously is the case, too, but there the dial itself is the star and I am not sure I would find the dial surface of this watch here that interesting, it would be good to see one of the watches in person to be able to decide.

    Initially I didn't like the dial. But it is growing a lot on me today and I have to say I start liking, even loving it. Especially the grey and blue one. The dial kind of reminds me of the Bulgari Octo Finissimo and it is giving me Zenith Defy Classic vibes without it being an homage at all. Looks like Oris is now getting onto the integrated steel bracelet sports watch bandwagon without having an integrated steel bracelet but it very much has this vibe to me.

    The Oris titanium ProPilot is quite simply a stunning design masterpiece. It’s like they just fired a cruise missile with a nuclear warhead into an opposing army of Stone Age warriors 😂 Im just a bit puzzled why Oris didn’t class and print Chronometer on the dial? Accuracy of +/-1 day is actually better than COSC and is incredible for a watch with an excellent long power reserve.

    The only grudge i have against the Pilot X is the flat dial that looks in my opinion too empy and simple. Maybe it was their vision to make it kinda like a prototype watch, because thats the vibe i get from the whole looks of it.

    Is it grade 5 titanium? If it is the usual titanium (grade 2? not sure) used in some cheaper watches like Seiko, I'm afraid that it is going to get quite a lot of scratches easily.

    • @marvinberwart
      @marvinberwart Před 2 lety

      Have you ever had a Titanium watch?
      In my experience, it depends a lot on the finish applied. Titanium does scratch quite easily in theory but it is only noticable on polished parts.
      I sold a GS snowflake because it was indeed a scratch magnet but my Mark XVIII in bead blasted titanium looks brand new after several years.

    • @yvesb1227
      @yvesb1227 Před 2 lety

      @@marvinberwart Still, CrossCentury's question is "à propos" as Grade 2 is softer than Grade 5 which has better alloy combination. It might not be a question of scratches but rather a question of hardness.

    • @marvinberwart
      @marvinberwart Před 2 lety +1

      @@yvesb1227 And which properties does hardness brings in a watch case? Resistance to scratches...
      Yes, grade 2 Ti is indeed a bit softer but as I stated, polished grade 5 like in a snowflake is very prone to scratches (visually noticeable) while sand-blasted grade 2, while softer, shows no sign of wear visually again.
      I'm an (amateur) knifemaker, so I'm well aware of what hardness and finishes in metal brings to the table.
      And I also believe that nothing replaces real life experience, I was personnaly convinced too that grade 5 was far superior before experiencing it and realizing there's much more than the theory in a real life scenario.
