Actually one of the most level-headed reviews of Kindle Scribe that Iâve come across so far. The analysis of possible target buyers is especially helpful as I mostly work with personal documents. Nice job.
One more thing that I want is split screen so that I can read pdf or book and side by side be able to make notes , which will be very important for students, professors etc.
Was waiting for your review!
Same here
I love your video and your camera presence! Such a wonderful video! It brings me such joy to see people who enjoy kindles. I love your set up and your voice and everything about your videos!!! Thank you so much for being you today! You really are so wonderful!
Thank you for this review! You are my favorite Kindle/e-note reviewer on youtube. I feel you are so sincere and honest.
Thank you for this review. Helped me make the decision to hold off for now. Decided to update my Paperwhite from the 2018 model to the 2021 Signature
Love your videos! Thank you for being so thorough. I really hope Amazon updates the software and allows the user to mark up purchased books, but I understand why it's not available right now.
Thank you so much for your review. I find it far more useful than other CZcamsrs reviews, in comparison of this short time frame to prepare this review after the debut of the product.
Great job with this review! Iâve seen your other videos on Kindle models and I really like your approach, kudos đ Iâm now a fan and Iâm subscribing đ
Absolutely enjoyed your review, Maneetpaul. Very thorough and detailed! Love and agree with your points. As always, great job!
Thanks so much for the kind words, Faiz! You did a wonderful job with your video as well!
Always enjoy your straight forward, fast-paced reviews! On the Kindle app of my Samsung S6 I can highlight, add a note, and write with instantaneous (i.e. as I write) handwriting to text conversion (and with a little care, it is virtually 100% accurate). Imagine if that ability was added to the Scribe. Imagine if the highlighted text was printed at the beginning of each note (again, that's how the Kindle app on Samsung works), the notes appeared as a continuous text file (note 1, note 2, note 3) when emailed to yourself. Nothing threatening there for Amazon's concern with protecting its digital rights, but a wonderful feature for reviewing and studying.
Your reviews are just so honest and thorough, I love your in depth explanation of what your saying to us, the viewer. You post the best reviews and first look "un boxing" videos on CZcams in my humble opinion. I have 5 kindle's here with me right now including the 2022 Kindle Basic in the Denim color which I haven't opened yet. Now I really want to purchase this NEW KINDLE SCRIBE which I don't really need. I don't know what to do. Should I purchase the Kindle Scribe?đ€
Thank you for the review. I fall under working professional category but i am also taking night classes. Your review helps me a lot đ
Great channel. One of the best reviewers on CZcams.
My only issue with the design is that it seems a bit odd to have such a large bezel on one side of the screen without having any page turn buttons, I wouldâve preferred it if they used that space for more screen. Regardless, I donât think that this is a device for me anyways and Iâll wait for the new Oasis. đ€·ââïž
Agreed. It's like they took the awesome ergonomics of the Oasis, dropped the page turn buttons, and blew up the screen size to compete with tablets. No thanks!
Give me an Oasis 2 with a better battery, USB C, and the note taking ability. I would be in Kindle heaven.
Your reviews are great! Thank you
I was waiting for your review :D
Thank you for this awesome review. I have watched many reviews and almost none of them mention that we are free to annotate on personal documents. I might get myself one soon.
Definitely one of the best kindle scribe reviews Iâve watched recently
Best video on that topic. Thank you for the wealth of knowledge youâve shared with us.
Question for you. Is this kindle can pronounce the words from the dictionary? Appreciate your input and time.
Am I in the market for a new kindle? No, I love my Paperwhite. Would the kindle scribe be useful for me at all? No, I have my kindle for book reading and and my ipad pro for school. So is this video useful for me? No, but I clicked it the moment I saw it because I just love watching your videos because of how well they're made. You're definitely one of my favorite creators on the platform. Keep doing what you're doing because you're awesome!
so excited to watch!
Wonderful overview of the device.
Thank you! Super helpful.
Love the Golden Temple artwork in the background.
I really value your thorough and comprehensive reviews. đđŒ Iâm intrigued by the Kindle Scribe but had already decided not to purchase this first version of it. Improvements will be made in future versions I have no doubt! You have helped me to confirm that decision! đ Thanks!
Thanks so much! Glad this video helped reaffirm your decision đđœđđœ
Mate, I donât know how old you are, but this size screen for me as a 47-year-old is a godsend. It is NOT overkill. It is bliss. I have TWO of them. One for Japan and one for the US. The Scribe is amazing.
I love my scribe. I have a visual impairment so the large screen helps me. The battery life is great. Reading for hours with wifi on and the brightness at max, the battery never went below 60%. I have not really used the writing features much, but they seem minimalistic. I wish Amazon had just done a large screen Oasis.
I've always wished to have a large screen kindle to read on since I find all the existing kindle screen a bit too small n my opinion, I'd very much rather sacrifice the portability of the smaller kindles for a larger screen.
Amazing review
Oh yes!! Finally the review
I would love it if they redo the oasis with the newest stuff and make it a little bit bigger that the rest (7,5-7,8â). I am happy that i canceled my order on Black Friday and got a discounted signature edition instead for half the price. I was mostly interested in the bigger screen.
Hi Iâve just got this kindle scribe and itâs had an update if you like reading magazines this 10â is a good size and amazon are good with updates.
This brings up the case of using an iPad as your reader. I have a 10.5 inch iPad and I recently started using Apple's Books app. I have been using Kindles since the first one. I really enjoy its portability and ability to read in any light condition such as outside. I really never used the iPad because it wasn't as good. But I have reaccessed the Books app and it is really good with themes that make it much easier on the eyes. I use it to read at my desk at home propped up by Logitech Combo Touch case and it is great. The other advantage is when I am out such as at the mall or in my car I can use the Books app on my iPhone and it sinks perfectly with my iPad. So I don't need to carry a second device with me. I still prefer to use my Kindle Paperwhite for most of my reading but I was wondering your thoughts about using the iPad.
Thanks for your great reviews. I view them every time they are published.
Thanks for the kind words! I havenât used the books app in recent years, but Iâm curious if youâve used the Kindle app on your phone/iPad and how it compares?
@@ManeetpaulThe Kindle app on the iPhone and iPad have a hard time syncing with the Kindle. I had numerous times when I read a book on the iPhone and when I went to the Kindle the page was not synced and had to search for where I left off. The same occurred going from Kindle to iPhone.
@@Maneetpaul i absolutely love the iPad mini. The kindle app is really good and you can add notes to the highlight and I feel it is a better experience than the scribe. I returned mine.
Sardarji tuhaday review kar k assi v kindle lay layi. iPad jeha maza te nahin lekin kuj kahaniyaan parhan da moqa mil gaya. Rabb khush rakhay tuhanu
You're a life saver with your reviewđđŒ just one question, can you see tour handwritten note (highlited) in the kindle app in other devices (ej. Android, ios)?
Thanks for watching, Cristiano! As of right now, I haven't been able to view my handwritten notes anywhere outside my Kindle Scribe or the exported PDF.
Good review! Can the pen be used as a page turn remote?
Okay mine comes tomorrow, I am still on the fence. I canât wait to see it, it may be going back.
Can you make a comprasin between kindle scribe and Kobo Elipsa?
I have the Scribe and enjoy using it with the exception of not being able to send a book from your Home page to the Library. I can do that when using the Kindle app on my Apple devices. I don't like the clutter on the Kindle Home page and the Scribe Home page. I've spoken with Kindle support, but get the runaround that doesn't make a sense. How difficult could it be for the software writer to include that procedure on the next update? I guess very.
just finished. iâm curious - what do you think of this compared to remarkable???
I was wondering if it could be used with a leyboard! like one of those smart typewriters thingies but with more usage
How do you compare it to the Budget IPad 9 especially with an added paperfeel screen protector?
I would imagine they update the firmware on this before they come with a new model. Oasis could use that update before another device is brought out. My predictions for this are: they want to test to see how well received this model is and then improve software with detailed updates like the Microsoft thing and more note taking abilities on certain formats of Books. I also know sideloading isnât useful right now but that could very well change. I could be horribly wrong at which point I would eat my Favorite Book and call it The Weekly Digest
đ
In all seriousness, I agree with your thoughts. We are still in the early days of the Scribe. We'll see things go in 2023!
Given how lazy amazon has been with updating previous kindles, I seriously doubt they would put any significant resources into developing features for scribe. Maybe an update to deliver what's already promised, another to fix some ridiculous issues, and that's probably it.
Iâm sure the software will improve with time, but I donât expect the sideloading experience to ever become more convenient; unfortunately I think Amazon wants to discourage it as much as possible.
@@rikugo1 if send2kindle works itâs fine tbh
I ordered it because it has a screen the size of pages in hardcover books! Is it any harder to hold than a hardcover book? I would not get the vertical cover; I would get a cover like a book cover, which would make it easier to hold.
For its price I would expect it to come with a case like the kobo Elipsa does
The good news is that Amazon has updated the Kindle scribes webpage to discuss new updates and features coming in the following months. Should be great!
What about cases for the Scribe? Did you get one?
I was waiting on this vid.I might not get it tho only cause I have the latest oasis and the signature paperwhite so I have one for home and one for outside already
When will it release it in India.?
It's like the Remarkable but with books included. Remarkable is better for pure note-taking though, I highly recommend it.
Hello Brother..I have a Question go you and I'd really Glad if you could Answer it.
In The Year 2021 and 2022 I bought lots of Physical Book's and Never really looked into this Kindle Tablets and all..Now That I feel Interested in and I have So many EPUB Book's I Added to My Google Play Book's..They work Just fine..
Now I'm planning to Buy this Kindle Tablet and I'm really thinking about some Money Saving..
Are these Epub Book's that I download from Z Library and Lib..Would they work fine Just as those Amazon Book's on Kindle Device.. Because that would be a Life saver..I don't want My Device to be Messed up or Chances of any Virus or malfunction to it if I do that..
I have a scribe and I fully agree with your review. it is mostly useless for use as a Kindle. The big screen is the main feature if you don't have a use for that then get some other kindle.
I think the display is excellent for reading I find it very sharp and clear. if you have problems seeing this might be a good reason to buy one since you can make the font as large as you like and still have a lot of text on the screen. Another good use for the big screen is for reading comics and magazines. I like the ability to warm up the light from the scribe. I do hope that Amazon makes some software upgrades, maybe then I will find a good use for the scribe then.
I like your reviews. But I wish reviewers of "note taking" tablets would show how small and fine it is possible to write (longhand and printing). All the photos reveal that the intent is for these tablets be be for drawing/sketching and writing with large bold letters. Show us how you can write a full page of 12-point printing, otherwise it isn't for note-taking.
But can read books on it right?
Does the Scribe have the page animation feature like the kindle Signature ?
Yes!
I was also waiting on your review. Your videos have helped me so much to learn about e-readers especially kindles.
I wonât be buying the Scribe because I do not note my books much. The current highlighting and adding notes functionality on my Kindle satisfies my needs. The 6.8 Inch screen is plenty big. $399 is just to high for a bigger screen e-reader in my opinion.
Thanks so much for watching and the kind words. Totally agree with you, the existing Kindles work great for people who read books and need to take notes.
It starts at 329 not 399 and was just on sale.
may i ask you , can the button on the pen set as remote page turner for the Scribe?
That would be cool, but I don't see an option for this yet. Maybe in the future they'll add that!
I personally like to take notes or summary on my iPad while having my Paperwhite open, for me iPad is just so much better to take digital notes.
Now iam really concerned about my 16gb purchase if I knew it itâs gonna make issues for pdfs to read on I would buy the 32 gb one bcoz most of my pdfs are textbooks đ
I have a question.
Could you annotate directly on the azw3 or mobi format ebooks which has transferred to kindle scribe by the pen?
I mean like as a Boox reader that I can write on the pdf , epub , mobi , azw3 directly by pen.
Thanks for the reply
As long as you use the Send to Kindle feature, you can write on it.
@@Maneetpaul Thank you Mr. Singh đđ
I ended up getting Readwise due to a previous review. How does the Scribe notes work with Readwise?
They donât :( That would be AMAZING if handwritten notes synced to Readwise in plain text
Thanks!!
Iâm so surprised that you can markup pdf and not kindle books on it.
I donât understand why itâs so big I want a kindle but the reason I want a kindle is because itâs like a book size. I used to read on my iPad but itâs big and donât want to hold it up all the time
The Oasis would be perfect if it just had USB-C. The weight and balance with buttons for changing pages is ideal for a true e-reader.
That was a great review. I liked how you broke it up into user groups. The PDF feature would be the most useful one for me. But still not convinced it would be worth the money. I did hear that one of the note templates was for writing music. I wonder if musicians would find that useful enough to invest in the device.
When I was a student Iâd type my notes directly into a word doc. If I needed to include a diagram Iâd type Fig. 1, 2, etc and Iâm a notebook sketch the diagram and caption it Fig. 1, 2, etc. Later I could photograph and import it, or find a similar diagram online to add, or if basic diagram like a graph use the doc tools to draw it directly in the doc.
And I agree about the size for reading. Itâs a bit of an overkill.
Thanks so much! I did see a template for music, which was pretty cool. That's one thing they did really well, including a bunch of templates for a large variety of use-cases.
You don't need to press down on the eraser to erase
Which screen is crisper? The Paperwhite's or the Scribe's?
They're both really similar. Probably the Paperwhite by the slightest bit.
@@Maneetpaul Thank you! Your videos are excellent, informative, entertaining and relaxing
I gambled. I sold my Supernote (a fantastic device), wanting a kindle that ran natively. I knew the Kindle notebook feature would not be able to compete initially with the likes of Boox and Supernote. Nevertheless, I was still a bit surprised at how basic the notebook feature on the Kindle scribe is. You can only manually turn pages one at a time? But as I say, I gambled and I am expecting them to update it with more features (they had better). The device overall is a joy, but I am playing the waiting game. The Supernote company has an online road map showing upcoming features and updates; it would have been smart for Amazon to do that to avoid the main criticism of all of the reviews: the rather simplistic notebook feature with no guarantee that it will improve.
Supernote product team is simply one of the most open and transparent team out there. They are just amazing. Giving how lazy Amazon has been at updating the other kindles, I seriously doubt they will put out a roadmap of software updates. My guess is that they would push some update to deliver their promises like the word file feature, and then some to fix some ridiculous issue like the useless pdf marking. And then thatâs it. More features for the second gen a few years later.
@@leeleo9615 probably. I don't need too much, though. If they can meet my bar I will be happy. Otherwise, maybe I will drift back to supernote when they come out with a 13 inch
@@ernestintownandjackintheco1024 me too. Iâm just asking for an adequate note taking feature set with EPUB and pdf, and thatâs it. Iâm mostly writing handwritten notes while reading, and donât do long writing sessions, so I donât really care about the notebook that much
@@leeleo9615 it is a wonderful build overall. I really like the feel of it. And the Kindle experience is better than it was as an app on Supernote. But at this point, you have to go manually page by page through any notebook you create. Surely they are going to improve upon thisâŠ? And, no, I am certain that Amazon will not provide any kind of roadmapđ
@@ernestintownandjackintheco1024 native kindle reading experience is definitely gonna be way better than kindle app on Supernote. I actually have a Supernote as well, itâs a fantastic digital notebook, but not a good reader, which is what I use more often.
Do I need a Kindle Scribe? No... Do I want one? ... Yes.... But It will be sooooo expesinve in Brazil.
The thing is, there is no way the Scribe would ever replace iPad Pro for professionals. I don't know who they are after with this device. I was expecting the PDF markup implementation to be the same for all formats with ebooks. Then I would be interested. I understand the piracy comment, but it's still disappointing.
What about "Manga Readers" ?
The large screen could work well for Manga and comic books. But itâs a high price to pay just for a larger display.
Iâm still on the fence with this one.
I have to agree with you about the size. It's far too big, IMO. I would much prefer a Paperwhite-sized device.
The fact that you cant directly write on Kindle documents is another downside for me.
And third is the price. Amazon's usual tactic when they enter an existing market is to undercut the competition on price, but they don't seem to have done that here. IMO, it's too expensive for what it is right now.
Agreed! There arenât enough features to justify the high price tag. Maybe that will change with future software updates.
Far too big for you. Not everyone.
I want a Kindle Oasis - scribe.
Something to take hiking with me with less space needed.
And I definitely want that software experience improved. Maybe the eraser fixed too.
I think I'll hold out for the next version of this. Even though I would love to buy it, but it doesn't make sense to buy a new Kindle with a limited software experience.
I have to use my finger to help my eyes track the text when reading, which I can do with the Oasis since it has buttons to change pages and a screen lock. Can't do that with this joke of a ebook. Won't work for me. Definitely missing buttons critical for me.
Sadly it i am trying to read more and most Kindles do not allow books to be read to you. What about persons with Learning Disabilities? I have to return mine. I do not mean Audiobooks. I mean PDFs and papers I have to read.
I can tell you who this Kindle was for: me.
I don't even care about the writing. At all. 0%. I wanted either an 8" note or a 10" note, very clear screen, text, fast page turns.
That's literally all I wanted and no one was providing it. I was leaning towards a Kobo Sage, but if I *have* to be stuck in an ecosystem, Amazon's is better - and I try hard not to use big corporations when I don't have to.
I just wanted maximal screen size with maximal clarity and a solid brand that could last me many years. Would've liked a lower price since I didn't need the pen or the functionality.
Get the kindle oasis in my opinion
If all you care about is a high quality, large screen, this would work well for you. Itâs just a high price to pay if you arenât going to use any of the other features.
@@Maneetpaul That's why I said it was for me lol. High quality, large screen were my top two requirements. I do admit it's a splurge for what you get with my desires, but it was the only way to get it :)
@@Babak7712 Tried an Oasis, too small for my tastes, otherwise I would've bought that, especially with the deals. I really like the big screen and don't find it uncomfortable to hold.
I agree I bought kobo elipsa for sole purpose of reading too! donât need writing âïžbut would appreciate page turn button đą
I love my Scribe. Dont hate lol
Erasing on a kindle scribe is a bit too realistic, that made me laugh!
Right?! Haha
Too big for me. Waiting for the new Oasis.
Oasis is long overdue for an update.
But Iâm almost sure I saw someone converted their handwritten notes to printed notes. Almost is the key word here.
I donât agree at all and I think this conclusion is just link baiting. Iâm loving the size of the screen and the pen capabilities are enough for me for now. I didnât buy your ebook because of what you say about the Scribe.
For sure, this is the difficulty right. They've tried to make it for everyone, and so made it for no one!
They made it for me. Chicken scratch mcgee
I'm a drawer
Maneetpaul Singh :with reference to your books. It's price is high please cut-down it's price .upto one dollar only .earn money other sources. Not from your followers. Hopefully you will comment. Regard
I don't want it, just curious.
People would buy an iPad for this price
They over promised and under delivered⊠Hopefully they wise up and make the note taking side a lot more useful. Otherwise, itâs really a glorified kindle at this point.
