    Hi there!
    It’s great to meet you đŸ„°
    My name is Maneetpaul Singh, but my friends call me Maneet (pronounced muh-neet). I'm a bookworm from Connecticut who loves tech. You can sideload your own fonts. There is a readme file in the font folder of the kindle device that will tell you how to go about it. This way you can have other fonts to choose from those already built in the kindle.

    Another way of easier "navigation" is to choose the "list," rather than "grid" option for viewing and then to organize your library into categories, "fiction," "cooking," what have you. I have about 8 categories.
    Every time I download/send a book to my Kindle, I immediately transfer it to the appropriate category, so that I know where to find it! 😉📚

    Thanks for these. Really helpful. I discovered the "mini-swipe" option for advancing pages etc a few weeks back.
    However, I've also discovered that you can simply "tap" on the Screen at almost any point just to the right of the left hand side of the Screen and the page will advance.
    I wish it were possible to "lock" the progress in the book options.
    Sure, you can "select" them, but I find that, the merest touch of the bottom of the screen keeps changing the option.
    I'd like to be able to "lock" just the % of the progress, which was set, by default, in my old 4th Gen Kindle!

Your anecdote about about sending your prayers as a PDF was very relatable. As a Jew, I used to know people who have the prayer book as a PDF on their phone (NOT my jam scrolling in and out in the middle of the main meditation lol). Thankfully we now have full on apps for that stuff that deal with the formatting properly.

      Have the keyboard one still even now. Bet you didnt know you could sideload MP3s and music or podcasts into those. This way you can read AND use it like an ipod at the same time. I use this one off and on from my modern paperwhite and its got about 8 hours of music and white noise style playlists and you can listen with headphones or the external speakers. :)

    • @nikobuerk346
      @nikobuerk346 Pƙed 2 lety +1

      @@kezla Yep! Unfortunately no ability to add fonts like later kindles. It can surf the internet very slowly like most kindles, but the 3rd gen Keyboard has a secret super power in the menu under the experimental tab and in it is playing mp3s (or podcasts if you can get them into that format.). There is no limit to the size or length of the files but be mindful that there isn't a way to play a specific song or something or make playlists. It's basically a really big ipod shuffle mini where you can play, pause, or skip (no shuffle though). Just storage and playback. Pressing ALT and the Space Bar at the same time (i think this is the key combo) starts the music. It has external speakers built in so it can play out loud or you can plug in some headphones which I find to be the best thing to do. Very unique as i've never heard of another kindle version having this after or before the Keyboard model, and I love using it. File should show up when you plug it into your computer.

      I use Voiceview almost every day. This is their version of text-to-speech, which I personally think works a lot better than on android and my computer. The difference between VoiceView and audiobooks is that audiobooks are a live recording of an actor, sometimes with special effect and music. Voiceview is the kindle device actually reading to you. It will have a few mispronunciations (live, lower, etc) but far fewer than android and windows. Also, it does not stop between sentences like android does. It has some voice intonation, but not what you would expect from a human being. But enough to keep it from being monotone. In kindle Voiceview only works in English. Audiobooks, being recordings can be what ever language they are recorded. You also have to deal with market region restrictions. Depending of which website your account is registered will determine what content you have available. Lastly, voiceview is part of the system, so you don't have to pay extra for it. You just need to turn on the bluetooth function and then you should have it available, for English only. Might have to change the language on your device to English if you don't see it.

      Thanks so much for watching! Not too sure about that one, the email functionality for exporting notes should include everything! Sometimes if you have too many highlights, it will shorten your highlights due to hitting a limit. That happens with Readwise, too.

    • @Maneetpaul
      @Maneetpaul  Pƙed 2 lety +4

      The new Paperwhite. It's more future-proof, and actually performs better than the Oasis. I used to love the Oasis (still do), but if you're buying a Kindle today in 2022, get the Paperwhite. If you have money to spare, get the Signature Edition! Hopefully we'll see a new Oasis come out this year, who knows.

    Where can I find out about font sizes for people with low vision?

    • @msarchieve1749
      @msarchieve1749 Pƙed měsĂcem

      I have a Kindle 6th Gen. I do not know what Kindle version you have, but hopefully they should pretty much work the same.
      Font size can be change. I know that if I run my fingers across my screen as if I am trying to zoom in or zoom out, a font box pops up and I can adjust my font size.
      I can also go to my Page Display option. And change font there as well. When I open a book, I tap at the top of the page and get a Page Display Option.
      Under my option I have all my themes showing: Compact, Standard, Large and Low Vision. It's easier for me to pick which style of print I like, which I have mine set to Large.
      Under the Font & Setting Option, I can set the Font (Type, Bold and Size level), Page (Layout), Reading (What I want to see on my reading pages) and Theme (Compact, Standard, Large and Low Vision). For Themes only the themes that's not hidden will appear under Page Display. Whatever I want to show, I click on show.
      If I want to change font size using Page Display, all I do is tap top of the page I am on, click Page Display, choose my theme if it's no longer chosen and this happens when I change things, it jumps to Custom. After I see that my theme is chosen, then I click on Font & Page and set my size and anything else that I want to change and click close. My settings will be for all my books.
      If you need to use Low Vision, choose that option which the default size on my Kindle 6th edition is 11 and it can be raised to 15 either sizing option.
      I hope my comment makes sense to you and is helpful to you.

      I found that the slider works well if you can get hold of it. If your case edge overlaps even slightly it would be a problem. It can also work too well so that you slight right past the location you need to be at
