Hi there!
Itâs great to meet you đ„°
My name is Maneetpaul Singh, but my friends call me Maneet (pronounced muh-neet). I'm a bookworm from Connecticut who loves tech. When I bought my first e-reader in 2020, I began reading more than I ever had before. Iâve made it my mission to help people fall in love with reading through Book Tech.
Think of me like the MKBHD of books.
There are three things I want you to know.

You can sideload your own fonts. There is a readme file in the font folder of the kindle device that will tell you how to go about it. This way you can have other fonts to choose from those already built in the kindle.
That's a great tip! I'll have to experiment with it. Thanks, Rod!
Ooooo yessss! I am so happy to find this tip.
@@feedingit Just note that the extra fonts don't appear when you sideload MOBI files. It will usually appear with purchased books and AZW3 files.
@@rodhernandez4134 Thanks!
@@Maneetpaul Please when you figure it out, make a video showing us! đ„ Iâd love to read some of my older books in vintage typewriter font!
Another way of easier "navigation" is to choose the "list," rather than "grid" option for viewing and then to organize your library into categories, "fiction," "cooking," what have you. I have about 8 categories.
Every time I download/send a book to my Kindle, I immediately transfer it to the appropriate category, so that I know where to find it! đđ
Great tip! The list view is really underrated too! The new update coming out changes things a bit, so I'll be making a video about it soon!

Thanks, I'll look forward to it! đ

This is actually so helpful. So many kindle tips videos all talk about the same tricks, but I learned a bunch of new ones from you! I found your video to be very clear, organized, and straight to the point without any music distractions, gimmicks, or distasteful promoting. You have my follow!
Your Kindle Paperwhite (11th generation) videos are excellent. I recently bought a 2021 edition and your many videos have given this decades old reader a quick path to customizing my device for improved reading and saved me time troubleshooting "how-to" fixes. Thank you.
I really love the tip about exporting your notes. I've already used that to send notes to myself for some of my college courses.
Thanks for these. Really helpful. I discovered the "mini-swipe" option for advancing pages etc a few weeks back.
However, I've also discovered that you can simply "tap" on the Screen at almost any point just to the right of the left hand side of the Screen and the page will advance.
I wish it were possible to "lock" the progress in the book options.
Sure, you can "select" them, but I find that, the merest touch of the bottom of the screen keeps changing the option.
I'd like to be able to "lock" just the % of the progress, which was set, by default, in my old 4th Gen Kindle!
đđ
Was very helpful & I've learnt a few new things. Thank you!
For the last 10 years I used a Paperwhite 1 and have very recently upgraded to a 2021 Paperwhite 5 (Kindle 11) your comments are very helpful to learn my way around
Love so many useful tips! Thanks for putting these together!
Much appreciated. Just bought my kindle paperwhite 11th edition and your tips are prooving very useful.
So glad I found this video.
Thanks for sharing Maneetpaul! I would also suggest people activate the "Display Cover" option as the kindle screensaver. Your anecdote about about sending your prayers as a PDF was very relatable. As a Jew, I used to know people who have the prayer book as a PDF on their phone (NOT my jam scrolling in and out in the middle of the main meditation lol). Thankfully we now have full on apps for that stuff that deal with the formatting properly.
Thank you for this video! Great explainations.
Appreciate your videos - I'm looking at purchasing the Paperwhite as a way to be more productive with my time as opposed to being on social media. I downloaded the Kindle app on my Samsung tablet a few days ago just to get into it and I discovered 8 books I'd downloaded 11 years ago, 2 of which I hadn't read - back when the internet was slow and social media was just taking off. It was truly refreshing to get back into reading and took me back to how life used to be :)
Thanks for these tips man !! All tips are helpful. Good job đ.
No problem!!
some great tips, thank you.
This was so great Maneetpaul! I didnât know about screenshots on Kindle, and r emailing notes and highlights to yourself. So awesome!

The tip for morning prayers is GENIUS!!! Thank you!
Great Video Maneetpaul :)
Thank you, Amy!
Thanks, Maneet. (Hope I'm not being forward.) I'm reminded of a poll Microsoft made 20-30 years ago. It asked its Office users what features they would like added to MS Word. Turned out that the most desired features were already built in. Users just didn't know it.
"Swipe to turn pages" Game changer for me. Thanks

Thanks for the first tip! My location indicator sometimes changes and I never knew why. Then I'd go into settings to change it back. Now I know why AND don't have to stress about digging into settings to restore it.
Great information.

Thanks so much!
A good review just ordered my second kindle basic thanks đ
Nice discovery -- Thank you
Sceptical about whether this video would be useful for me as Iâm a heavy kindle user since 2011 (probably why I donât hunt through the settings anymore) but mind blown with the library page shortcut, store lock, privacy setting and power saver mode. Iâm a PW 11th gen and Oasis 10th gen user. Always enjoy your videos thanks :)
Wooot! Mission accomplished! So glad you learned something new :) Thanks for watching!
Had a kindle since the physical keyboard version and still learned a lot here! Thank you for these great tips :)
So glad you learned something! Thanks very much for watching, Kezla!
Have the keyboard one still even now. Bet you didnt know you could sideload MP3s and music or podcasts into those. This way you can read AND use it like an ipod at the same time. I use this one off and on from my modern paperwhite and its got about 8 hours of music and white noise style playlists and you can listen with headphones or the external speakers. :)
@@nikobuerk346 I did not know this! Mine still works but there's huge lines on the screen, still kind of useable though, will be booting it up at the weekend, thanks for sharing đ€
@@kezla Yep! Unfortunately no ability to add fonts like later kindles. It can surf the internet very slowly like most kindles, but the 3rd gen Keyboard has a secret super power in the menu under the experimental tab and in it is playing mp3s (or podcasts if you can get them into that format.). There is no limit to the size or length of the files but be mindful that there isn't a way to play a specific song or something or make playlists. It's basically a really big ipod shuffle mini where you can play, pause, or skip (no shuffle though). Just storage and playback. Pressing ALT and the Space Bar at the same time (i think this is the key combo) starts the music. It has external speakers built in so it can play out loud or you can plug in some headphones which I find to be the best thing to do. Very unique as i've never heard of another kindle version having this after or before the Keyboard model, and I love using it. File should show up when you plug it into your computer.
Excellent review! So glad I found your channel!! (I saw the description âMBHD of booksâ and immediately smashed the subscribe button!)â€â€
Thank you for the idea about how to navigate through a Prayer Book pdf!
Thanks for this video. I learned a couple of things (report typos). I'm going to look through your channel and find other useful Kindle tips. Take care
Thanks for watching! So glad you learned something!
Wow more tricks. Thank you.
Welcome đ
Great video :)
Glad you enjoyed it!
I read the new paper white with one hand, alternating between my right and left and discovered that I can still turn the page with my thumb when holding in my left hand. You only need to tap the page about an inch from the left and itâll turn the page no problem. Itâll only turn back the page if you press close the the left of the page. Give it a go.
Awesome tips
Glad you like them!
Excelente Video como siempre, eso si corrección, el Kindle Oasis también tiene la opción de informar error de contenido, no solamente él signature cómo dices en el video. Saludos desde Chile
Mine just updated today. Sends a lot did because I learned from a lot of friends on Facebook. I did a couple things that I could handle, if you have a video soon on it, that would great.

An alternative Iâve found to eliminate ghosting is simply to turn the Kindle upside down (e.g., tip the top of the page toward the floor) to trigger the reorientation page refresh: ghosts gone. The tip it back to read again.
Barry, does this work on a Kindle Paperwhite Gen 11? Unlike other PW Kindles, this one doesnât have automatic page reorientation.
@@Burps___ Donât know. I have an Oasis.
So many great tips! Thanks! I especially love the capability to email note highlights and the disabled power saver feature to have the kindle turn on immediately from the wireless cradle. You have the best videos!

Great tips and very helpful information. I have been a kindle user since the introduction of the Voyage, and I did not know about some of the features you mentioned. And, for those who are familiar with these items, a nice review is always worthwhile. Thanks!
You are so welcome!
I didnât know about the resetting reading speed. Are there any more settings that use the # rather than going through menus?
On my kindle basic I could change the location of taps to go backwards or forwards. I think default is a thin section on the left for back, and a large section on the right forward. I changed it to give more room on the left for going back. If I still had that one Iâd look at it again to see if I recall it correctly.
I don't think that's a setting anymore, it would be useful though!
Hm, not sure if there are more secret commands like the reading reset one. I'll investigate :)
Maneetpaul, I share the praise of your tips! Thank you. Can you consider a dedicated video on how to listen to Audiobooks on the Kindle (is there a sleep timer?), and how to use voice-enabled feature on Kindle? Is there a difference between those two? Thank you so much. đ§
Thanks for the video idea! I'll look into it!!
I use Voiceview almost every day. This is their version of text-to-speech, which I personally think works a lot better than on android and my computer. The difference between VoiceView and audiobooks is that audiobooks are a live recording of an actor, sometimes with special effect and music. Voiceview is the kindle device actually reading to you. It will have a few mispronunciations (live, lower, etc) but far fewer than android and windows. Also, it does not stop between sentences like android does. It has some voice intonation, but not what you would expect from a human being. But enough to keep it from being monotone. In kindle Voiceview only works in English. Audiobooks, being recordings can be what ever language they are recorded. You also have to deal with market region restrictions. Depending of which website your account is registered will determine what content you have available. Lastly, voiceview is part of the system, so you don't have to pay extra for it. You just need to turn on the bluetooth function and then you should have it available, for English only. Might have to change the language on your device to English if you don't see it.
Hello,
Thanks for your video. I can see all the features you talked about, but now I cannot open the books in my library. I have turned it off and restarted device. Any ideas on how to fix this?
Great
Love your content! I didn't see how to turn on the swipe to turn pages how to. Please share :)
Nothing to turn on for that one, it will just work :)
6:54 âquick book sortingâ doesnât seem to be available on my Oasis 10th gen. Running 5.14.3. Tried both the âhomeâ and âlibraryâ views, insured the filters were cleared.
Is there any way to enable "Read-along" books on Kindle Oasis?
Not sure if half these are really âsecretâ features because theyâre quite easy to discover, and a number of them are actually in promotional material. But itâs a nice, handy list anyways for novice users.
Hello, do you know how change the clock?
Thanks
Is the page number on the bottom right corner of home screen only on the paperwhite? My oasis doesnt seem to have it?
I love to read and listen audiobooks at the same time. Is it possible in my Kindle Signature? I try to use both features at the same time, but one pauses the other.
Love the newest kindle paperwhite, but the most recent update killed turning off sleep function, so you can no longer search "~ds" to turn off the ten minute timer. I like to have the option of setting up the kindle and periodically reading a line or two while passing by.
I just recently heard about this feature, and it makes me sad that it's no longer there :(
@@Maneetpaul maybe if there were more people talking about this matter, something might get done. Mostly it gets mentioned in handicapped comments but I do believe longer sleep timers would be beneficial to users at large.
@@greygander Send feedback on this. As you said, if enough people ask for it I would hope they would bring it back.
@@rodhernandez4134 I did and then searched for Bezos' email and informed whatever watcher mechanisms there.

Hi, thank you for your tips! I love your videos. I`ve been using kindle for a long time but I learned a lot from this video. I HAVE A QUESTION đ why am I not able to email me everything that I have highlighted, just a percentage? is it only me?
Thanks so much for watching! Not too sure about that one, the email functionality for exporting notes should include everything! Sometimes if you have too many highlights, it will shorten your highlights due to hitting a limit. That happens with Readwise, too.

Hello Maneetpaul, Thank you so much for the very informative video. Our son died in January and he has an Amazon Kindle that I won't mind having. What is your opinion on the best way to change it to my account? I would really appreciate some guidance.
I do have one problem though, I am in the UK and my Amazon account is connected to my India phone number (which I cannot access) so I cannot receive the security code they want to send me. :(

The browser is still the same one as always.

the kindle basic 11 edition doesn't seem to have the page turn animations
Iâm in the market for a new kindle. I can afford an Oasis but am torn between that one and the new paperwhite. Which one would you recommend if price isnât an issue?
The new Paperwhite. It's more future-proof, and actually performs better than the Oasis. I used to love the Oasis (still do), but if you're buying a Kindle today in 2022, get the Paperwhite. If you have money to spare, get the Signature Edition! Hopefully we'll see a new Oasis come out this year, who knows.
@@Maneetpaul Thank you for the response! Going with the Paperwhite then. Appreciate it đđŒ
How can I get your book 2022
Please make a video of the new kindle software update. My Oasis loaded with it this morning and I am sort of not a happy camper! I absolutely intensely dislike the new scrolling bars and the HUGE book icons!!

@@Maneetpaul Thank you!

Love the beard. Iâm jealous
Wow didnât know the first one at all
Neither did I until recently. So helpful!
I have a Kindle Oasis and there's no exporting notes function and screenshot taking
When holding my KINDLE OASIS I just use the page tab buttons on the right side. Bonus for the OASIS.
Where can I find out about font sizes for people with low vision?
I have a Kindle 6th Gen. I do not know what Kindle version you have, but hopefully they should pretty much work the same.
Font size can be change. I know that if I run my fingers across my screen as if I am trying to zoom in or zoom out, a font box pops up and I can adjust my font size.
I can also go to my Page Display option. And change font there as well. When I open a book, I tap at the top of the page and get a Page Display Option.
Under my option I have all my themes showing: Compact, Standard, Large and Low Vision. It's easier for me to pick which style of print I like, which I have mine set to Large.
Under the Font & Setting Option, I can set the Font (Type, Bold and Size level), Page (Layout), Reading (What I want to see on my reading pages) and Theme (Compact, Standard, Large and Low Vision). For Themes only the themes that's not hidden will appear under Page Display. Whatever I want to show, I click on show.
If I want to change font size using Page Display, all I do is tap top of the page I am on, click Page Display, choose my theme if it's no longer chosen and this happens when I change things, it jumps to Custom. After I see that my theme is chosen, then I click on Font & Page and set my size and anything else that I want to change and click close. My settings will be for all my books.
If you need to use Low Vision, choose that option which the default size on my Kindle 6th edition is 11 and it can be raised to 15 either sizing option.
I hope my comment makes sense to you and is helpful to you.
Show us your Kindle/E-reader collection!
A good idea for a future video !
Thanks for these. But just wanted to say about the quick book sorting thing. With the new software update in Jan, we no longer have the page number or the go-to menu. It is simply a slide bar and is very problematic.
Yeah, the new update changes the home screen. I'll be making a video about this soon!
I found that the slider works well if you can get hold of it. If your case edge overlaps even slightly it would be a problem. It can also work too well so that you slight right past the location you need to be at
