Liked to see you lot do hand stitching instead of zipping through a quilt via machine. We do have time Ive never machine stitched any of my quilts

They do make top loading washing machines now without the wringer in the middle and with gentle bedding or quilt cycle program too.

Would machine or long arm quilting devalue the ' hand pieced value' of an 1920 heirloom quilt?

I have very mixed emotions about machine quilting an antique top because I hand quilt or use my home machine; depending on the circumstances of where or who the quilt will go to. I collect antique tops and when I get time, I hand quilt them. I'll never get them all finished before I die. I hope to make sure they go to a place or person who won't machine quilt them. This is just my personal opinion. It's a preference and whoever owns them decides. I just hate it when you can stand up a quilt in the corner because there is so much mAchine quilting. I paid to have three done when I first began - never again I said.

Sandra I haven’t been hand quilting long ( 6 months) , I love it so much though! I don’t think I would ever machine quilt a vintage quilt top either , I believe it would depend on the top though :)

Agree. I don’t even consider it called quilting when it’s done by machine. I refer to it as “sewing”.
