    The Saucony Endorphin Rift is a damn fun shoe that follows in the steps of its predecessor, the Endorphin Edge - but without the carbon plate. And all this PWRRUN PB in such a lightweight package, is pretty nice! What are YOUR thoughts?

    I thought about these for a second, then remembered the $200 I completely wasted on the edge which I ended up donating away after a few miserable runs in those expensive mistakes. I’ll keep sticking with the peregrine and xodus ultra 2’s for now

      Hey, I feel you, I have the Ultra, and ASICS Trabuco , Tranuco is my favourite, much wider toe box and more cushion, I am waiting for Trabuco 2 ( 43/38 stack height )to be discounted to get one !👍🏻☀️🏃🏽‍♂️

      Xodus Ultra easily sauconys best shoe

    • @HS99876
      @HS99876 Před 7 měsíci

      @@pete801yep, best of Saucony shoes, unfortunately their line up are becoming narrow, they increase the stack height but cut the width! Make it less cushion and unstable!

    Really wish saucony would just put vib mg on there shoes. Bought the pere 13 last year but here in ireland they are death traps on wet rock the worst grip ive ever experienced. Made them completely useless for trails. Wont buy anymore sacony trail shoes until they change the outsole compound. Thanks for the review gr. 👍

    I been loving the rift. Did a 50k in it and really enjoyed the ride and protection. One thing that was a negative for me didn’t drain water well, multiple water crossing and I was def squeaking at the end

    Good review, narrow toe box=hot spot= pain , no matter how good is midsole!

    At this point there’s so many good shoes that if it doesn’t have mega grip or some kind of equivalent it’s a no go. I will not tolerate sub par compounds

  • @ZenDao_85
    @ZenDao_85 Před 7 měsíci +3

    Many brands are producing good rubber compounds nowadays. Saucony still super slippery. If they would switch out their rubber they would become one of the best, if not the best.
    Pumagrip, asicsgrip, continental and vibram megagrip are all decent on wet rock and wood.

    • @mattlogan1
      @mattlogan1 Před 7 měsíci

      Love how Nike finally just gave up and used Vibram on the ultra fly

      You can add VJ as a niche shoe company which has an amazing outsole rubber compound. It’s the only shoe I trust to run on frozen asphalt in the winter, assuming I’m not wearing spiked shoes.

      ive come to agree. I love the XU2 and Pere13, and the traction is mostly great in dry Colorado trails. But running in Scotland was another story, lots of ground slippage in the XU2. Have to think other rubbers wouldnt slip on wet rock

    This shoe has been excellent for me out to 13 miles, I have a 50k in Dec so hoping for a good experience all the way. I came from the Peregrine 13 which I didn’t like. My feet would hurt after 5 or 6 miles in those.

  • @MrTVervolg
    @MrTVervolg Před 7 měsíci

    How does it compare to the endorphin trail? I really liked the trail but it was discontinued pretty quick, this seems like a shoe where they tried to fix the mistakes they made in the trail...

  • @ovechkinata
    @ovechkinata Před 7 měsíci +2

    I’ve noticed as a wide-footer it’s not always the toe box I need to be worried about, but the mid foot. I gave the topo pursuits a chance but had throbbing pain in the mid foot after about 10 miles, I think too many companies are branding off of and pushing too much “science” into the running world rather than actually trying to appeal to the niche audience that is trying to avoid the other mainstream shoes that gave them problems, don’t think I’ll be trying topo again

    • @gregprevite8548
      @gregprevite8548 Před 7 měsíci +1

      Yeah topo has a wide toebox but is certainly not a wide shoe. They work for me but their fit Is def snug in the midfoot

    i'm tempted but i know that ankle collar would make my high instep feet numb in no time. even the gusseted tongue of xodus ultra is a bit tight on me but manageable by loosening up the laces

  • @kittykatjuli

    I found the rift to be so much more fun than the edge. I could never get a good lockdown on the edge and it also felt a lot firmer and stiffer, less bouncy and cushy. The edge is so close to being perfect (imo)… if only it had a touch more rock protection

    Been waiting for this review for a long time! Have not tried the Rift, but I do own the Edge and the Xodus Ultra. Happy with both so sounds like there’s no room and no need for the Rift in the rotation? I know you had ankle issues with the Xodus (take you at your word you don’t have mutant ankles 😂), but how does the Rift compare to the Xodus? Brilliant review as always!

    • @TheGingerRunner
      @TheGingerRunner  Před 7 měsíci +2

      If you already own the Edge and Xodus, you’re most definitely set. The Rift just gives ya a bit more affordable and flexy Edge

    How do they run on roads? Possible Road to trail option?

    • @TheGingerRunner
      @TheGingerRunner  Před 7 měsíci

      Eh, with the depth, size and distance of the lugs, I’d say not the best hybrid option out there, but really, you could make anything work if you really wanted to

    Do you think it’s true to size or should I size up half a size because of the narrow toe box?

    • @alredalred
      @alredalred Před 7 měsíci

      Size up. The toe box is insanely narrow

    • @mtimbroims

      I sized up 0.5 and mine are perfect.

    Respectfully, save your money unless you think the Edge is too harsh. Otherwise the Edge, Speedland GS, and Salomon Genesis are better in all respects for training and racing in more technical terrain.

    Full respect to you as a runner. However, I came to your channel looking for running videos. Instead, for the past 4 months you have only given reviews of shoes with feet that are not mine. Therefore your review is not relevant to me. Your running experiences however are identical. Since you're a runner, you should run

    • @RowOfMushyTiT

      Ye, it's way too focused on details like fit, durability, colour, grip. But how do the shoes run? What type of runner and terrain and distance are they suitable for?
      I'm really interested in the Rift, but I still have no idea what it's good for.
