The new updates in Saucony's Endorphin line of shoes are wonderful. The new Endorphin Speed 3 is a super plush, snappy shoe that utilizes a fun nylon plate (vs carbon like the Endorphin Pro 3) and can work in a wide variety of training and racing environments. What do YOU think?

I love the shoe reviews. But when are we getting the 2022 Summer shorts showdown???
SOON!!!
Speed 3 is my shoe of 2022 and the best Speed yet. Great upper and lockdown. Bouncy, snappy midsole yet very stable. Can use for recovery, easy, tempo, long and races. A jack of all trades. Nearly 400km and counting and it gets better every run.
Hi are you still using it? Just got mine half the price and i'd like to know what others think about its durability. Tia
I just bought them and headed out tomorrow on a training run. Excited to see how I like them!🎉
I have done 2 runs in the speed 3 so far. Got the white/gum colour which looks good.
Great midsole and outsole. Feels a bit softer than the Speed 2 which I used a lot.
Upper is nice for a daily but I am experiencing slight rubbing on right heel and the upper does have a bit much material leading to some scrunching.
Overall though I'm keeping them as they feel like a shoe I'll come to love.
Just wait for one of the 15% or 20% rebates from Saucony. At 135$, it's a buy!
I have a pair of Speed 1’s that still have life left. These will be my replacement. I’ve been waiting for a true update. The 1’s are great but did give me Achilles pain in the Blue Ridge Marathon due to slight medial side instability that was amplified during the very hilly race. The winged plate should give that touch of stability for me, which I think I need despite being a neutral mid foot striker. Great review as always!!
This is my daily trainer, +400k in it, love it and they fit my wide feet. I find I always want to run fast in it (may be just me!). It's not quite as fast as the pro 2 but way more comfy. I feel I also need a cushioned shoe for slow runs.
I bought the 2’s a few months back because you hear so much about them, but they haven’t quite gelled for me. I find the platform a bit unstable and narrow, and I don’t feel like I get much support from the upper (I don’t suffer from ankle problems so don’t generally mind light uppers). I’ve really enjoyed Saucony’s trail shoes, but their road shoes just haven’t worked for me yet. Nice review, though, and I do love that colour way!
Very happy so far with this shoe! It has a nice combination of the energy return of a race shoe & durability of an everyday trainer.
Excited to get these once they go on sale! I have two pairs of Speed 2s, one at 400 miles, and the other at 30 miles and I'm surprised at how similar the midsole feel is between them. The pebax is surprisingly resilient. What's most enticing to me about these is the slightly wider platform for some more stability as the ES2s can be a little wobbly at times
Saucony has 25% off right now!
thank you for the review. i always enjoy your work. If i may, i would compare the speed 3 to the speed 2 instead of the pro3. In my opinion the shoes became a bit slower as negative (compare to the speed 2 :)) but more comfortable and more stable
Great review as always, Ethan! The Speed 3 is my road marathon shoe while it holds up. Big fan of the pwrrunPB. Power on, GR Crew!
Boom!
Like you suggested, it’s still a good value since it can be a one shoe rotation for training and race day.
When is the summer shorts showdown coming!?
this colourway looks sickkkkkk
Had to edit and overhaul my whole comment - i still prefer the speed 2 over 3 as much as I originally wanted to love the 3, but my final vote is the pro 3 and hoka mach 5 combo with an occasional side of Nike invincible 2 for the win.
When V1 came out, I stocked up and I'm glad I did! The shoe that started it back then was great and still is and I didn't have to pay $170. I got one of my pairs for $90!!!
I'd love to try the Speed/Pro 3- but I have a couple pairs of Speed 2 and a Pro 2 for $100 each. Maybe next season...
Big fan of the Endorphine speed. I’ve been running in them since they were introduced. Get about 250 miles until the foam flattens out noticeably (I am not big person). The carbon plate on the Pro was too harsh on v1. Like the nylon plate on the speed. I like to have just one shoe to run in, so the Speed was ideal. I did buy the Nike Vaperfly v2, and it is next level and the carbon plate was not too stiff, but am afraid I will not get more than 100miles from it, so really want just one shoe that’s fast and can train and race in for much less than $200. Looking forward to trying the Speed v3, even though I understand it has gained weight
So far I’m loving this shoe, I do worry about durability as I’ve seen some others saying theirs are starting to have bits of foam chipping away after 100+ miles
Thanks for this
Another great shoe review Ethan! Love the production value and your honest opinions.
I ran a 11min. PB in Berlin 2 days ago wearing the Endorphin Speed 2. Worked perfectly for a shoe bought at a 30% discount 😅 🎉
That’s SOLID!! Nice work!
Had version 1 and now this new version 3. For me, a very welcome improvement is the slightly more stable feel at slower efforts (as I do) attributable to the slightly wider dimensions underfoot in midsole and heel. Now a true great daily trainer for the non-elite. Price - mmm, really an extra $25 or whatever is worth spending given how many hours underfoot I’ll be wearing them. I’ll just eat in once vs going out and even-Steven.
Boom. Solid feedback!
The Endorphin Speed 1 is my favorite show of all time. I can't imagine the Speed 3 being better. I'll skip this version! Great review (I was so excited when I saw you reviewed this)! You are the OG of shoe reviews, and I get so excited when I see you have reviewed a shoe!
I really like this new update - v1 was such a great choice, this is SLIGHTLY better!
Awesome ❤️🏃🏾♂️🙏🏾🔥
I tried them on the other day. The wide heel feels very weird just walking around. I wish they had this colourway for women. Sigh. Just got 2 pairs of discounted Speed 2 that I like more than my Speed 1. Going to try the Speed 3 again this week before I decide to buy.
I got this in Wide hope it’s not too wide
Love their shoes but sometimes the toe box narrows. Might need to try these before my 50k trail race in January. Looking for a extra kick in my steps since I've only done a couple full marathons and over a dozen half marathons at this point. Saucony mens triumph road running shoe has been my long time racing shoe. Ready to explore this space. I run a mix of road and trails averaging about 70 miles a week. Advice welcomed.😂
YES! Shoe of the year IMO. I love, love, love running in this shoe. Just about 50 miles on my pair so far. I appreciate the nylon plate - helps the miles just roll on by. That and the midsole make it such a fun ride. I thought the tongue was an upgrade over the Speed 2. And the fit is better, for me, over the 2. A bit wider platform, fewer overlays, and improved laces. All in all, I hope Saucony does not change a thing about this shoe. Except the price maybe. Lower is always better 😂
Great feedback!
Picked up a pair of Speed2s for 50EUR on a clearance sale a month ago, along with a pair of Shift2s (also 50EUR) - there was also a pair of Pro2s in my size for 70EUR, I am regretting a bit not buying them, but I don't think my 5min/km HM pace would benefit from them so spent that elsewhere. Loving both pairs so far, couple of shorter races coming up in Dec-Jan, looking forward to give the Speed2s a decent race pace :) And hopefully by next spring I can get back close to my half marathon PB from 2015... (1:45)
I love the shoes. I got it in pink, they are expensive but worth the money. I will buy another one soon
When it comes to the short tongue I may have to go by the old adage: “duct tape fixes everything”
All the attention on "race" shoes is misplaced. Just a few years ago these would have been "supershoes" and one of the top racing models. Now, these are just great lightweight trainers, like the NB Rebel3. If they are a 500 mile shoe, they are definitely worth $170. If they go dead at 200 miles but usable to 350, they are a $130 shoe. I bought two pairs of Speed2 when they were $80 a few months ago, so I've only run in the 3 a couple times. It's more comfortable on longer and slower runs, but the 2 is also just fine for those. The 3 is an improvement on the 2 as a daily trainer able to provide more protection on longer pavement runs, but if the 2 goes on sale for $80 again, well....
Endorphin Speed 3 is a great companion to Endorphin Pro 3. With 3rd edition, Speed has moved a but towards daily trainer category while Speed 1/2 was more for faster workouts. I bought version 3 from Amazon Saucony Store for $103 (short time deal) in the Pink colorway just like Pro 3. I ran on multiple Speed 1, Speed 2 Shield and now Speed 3. Nike, Adidas, ASICS should study and learn. PUMA Deviate Nitro 2 might be the only real competition for this do-it-all shoe.
I still prefer the 2 /// the 3's heel is too wide for me (I don't need any stability) and the laces are too stretchy but thats about it.
First!... always enjoy your review..
A serius question this tennis could bê great to slowly run?
Looks like a great pair to buy on discount when the 4s come out 🙃
When is v4 due to come out??
I got the speed 2 and the rear of the shoe seems super unstable and collapses if my weight shifts to one side or another. I'm only 170lbs so not that big. It's basically not a shoe I would walk in. It's so squishy back there.
Does the Speed 3 provide more stability in the back end with the added width underfoot?
Ran in the endorphin speed 2’s for awhile. I tried the pro 2’s and but my feet can’t handle the carbon. Just picked up the speed 3’s. Pretty excited to give them a go.
I did the same. The pro 2 was a shock to my legs. the toebox was short too. How was the toebox in the speed 3?
@@MsTrinichicspeed 3’s were gold. I even ventured into the pro 3’s with success. Free speed on race day.
Ethan, great review, thank you. Since you are disappointed by the price, and thought $30 less would be much better, could you do a review on the Asics Novablast 3? It is $30 less. How do these two shoes compare? Would the Novablast 3 be a better move, and give just as much value? thanks again.
Have a pair in rotation now, stay tuned!
Shoe battle: Asics magic speed 2 Vs ESpeed3
Dunno man, I understand the complaint about the price which I guess would lead to a larger conversation about prices of shoes in general. Almost all the max cushion shoes are hitting $165 and this has more foam then all of them barring the new Triumph, and it's PEBA on top of that. Plus the plate, which always cranks up the price. I guess for me it isn't as bad in comparison to the rest of the market, not necessarily how expensive it all the shoes are now. Love the shoe though, have about 50 miles on mine
Solid critique. Perhaps my issue IS with the industry at large. Bums me out! But there are certainly breakthrough shoes that rock without the hefty $!
@@TheGingerRunner 100% agree with that
@@TheGingerRunner Agree industry wide prices are going up, partly because inflation partly because factory closures in China due to Covid etc. ASICS just came with SuperBlast with an outrageous price of $220 and that shoe does not even have a plate. I call it outragous since Endorphin Pro 3 is $225 (list price, discounts are now available). SuperBlast is not a super shoe and I am certainly not paying $220 to run slow/recovery on them.
How is it for recovery runs and slow speed? ie 7min/km type runs. Does the ride change quite a bit at that low speed?
I’ve ran at that speed and it’s not a issue obviously when you pick up the pace that’s where the shoe shines
I’m sorry. Saucony are the best. I can’t find a substitute.
If these were under an 8 drop I’d buy these. I tried them on and they comfortable and fit great but felt unstable with an 8 drop. All my road and trail shoes are 5 or less (altra, Saucony and Topo). Bummed out. And $170 is ridiculous.
It’s funny, they don’t feel anywhere close to an 8 for me. Could be that they even out after some miles
Look at your piggily-wigglies hanging over the midsole! That's what I couldn't handle in this one. Despite it's lively feel, it's just so incredibly narrow.
even if the midsole and outsole get wider, the inside is still narrow. same with their other models
I will always refer to them as piggily-wigglies now!!
I am sorry the Speed 3 is the best over all shoe of 2022. It can literally do everything you want.
$170? Try €200 in Europe 😵💫
Is there a cushier saucony shoe than the kinvara w 4mm drop?
The freedom line is one that comes to mind.
The abandoned Zealot line was exactly that... Miss those shoes.
You may get lucky and still find them online. 👍🏻
Endorphin Shift line is cushier and has 4mm drop. Shift don't have PWRRUN PB however. It is based on PWRRUN foam which is reformulated to be softer and lighter this year so look for Endorphin Shift 3. You might want to look at ASICS Glideride 3 as well.
I always cringe when you bend the shoes like that! 😬
Had the same reflex😅
Great review, but enough with the price already. It went up, we get it, no need to beat the dead horse. And frankly, hardly anyone will have to pay that $170 anyway. Saucony has coupons constantly, RW has discount codes too. More about the shoe, less about $$. Worth mentioning, but not excessively repeating.
My understanding Bill, is that in the video the price went up to 170$. I know he said it a couple times. Is that true? Muy expensioso!
You ok, Bill?
@@TheGingerRunner Yep, just expressing one perspective on a review. Sorry if it offended.
Looks like you've sold out to the shoe manufacturers. At this point you're making adverts, not reviews.
Hahahahaha! Where the hell is my check?!
@@TheGingerRunner free products to those who promote them.
Wow, Saucony must have loads of stuff to give away because alot of people sure have loved the endorphin line.
