- This plant has many names....Goosefoot, lambs quarter among others. But I discovered it is also a kind of wild quinoa! How fantastic! I never imagined I'd be able to grow and harvest my own quinoa!
Also in this episode I get some last minute seeds planted out and I try to keep on top of the compost.

Hi Fiona! Wow such a unique tree! I have never heard of that before. I am trying to learn more about foraging too, it is always fascinating to learn about other things you can eat! I hope you are having a wonderful weekend! -Cara
I guarantee that you have lambs quarter growing around your property. It’s just a little weed but I never realised they grew so big! I’m trying to increase my foraging knowledge too and have learnt a lot this year.
@@fionagrows1848 I will have to explore and try and find some 😊
Oh Fiona there was me thinking she going to have to go over the top again bless her but you managed to get it OK,
Your ground looks great after the spuds seeds will get moving quickly for you, it's that sad time of year again when we start to remove and clear . Keep safe Bill and val
I love to get to the end of the season and start clearing things up! I find it very satisfying and look forward to the chilly weather!
I’m just glad it wasn’t a giant pumpkin I had to get over the top!😂🤗
Looking great 👍 👌
Thanks!🤗

Big HELLO Fiona from Mrs. Betty and Garry here in Gander Newfoundland and Labrador Canada! We have started composting our old veggie stalks…killing the weed seeds is a problem for sure.
If I could get motivated to turn my compost every week I’m sure that would help keep it hot and deal with the weed seeds but my back won’t let me!😩. Happy composting!
Very interesting to have a beautiful ornamental plant that you can eat 👍
I’m amazed at how big it is !
Great to research different plants and really interesting to have a kind of wild quinoa - wonder what you will find next !! Best Wishes, Paul & Nadj.
I was amazed at the quinoa find! Whether it will be actually harvestable remains to be seen. Thanks for watching,🤗
Glad to hear that your researching interesting plants and weeds, i have learnt alot by just investigating over the years i have been a gardener
I’ve always done a bit of foraging, but I’m definitely trying to expand my knowledge this year. It’s amazing what you find out!
Hi Fiona I grow spinach 2week ago and lettuce sping onions autum brodbean your cucumber look good. first time I see that tree that big in your garden🥰
I think it’s a good time of year to get spinach in the ground. Mine always just bolts in the summer. Maybe the September weather will give us both a lovely spinach crop!🤗
Amazing
Thanks for watching 🤗
Hi Fiona i might get CD calendar for X mas. Very interesting about the quinoa, good to know what to forage. I got a compost thermometer, since I bought it I e turned my compost about 3 times. When it cools down I turn it again and add more stuff.👍😁
I keep thinking about getting a thermometer too. Maybe for Christmas! It would be handy to know what’s going on in there. The calendar has been quite useful and I’ll probably get another one next year.🤗
I'm impressed by how green and full of veg your allotment is. Ours is looking really autumnal now. I'm really bad at turning my compost heaps I just give them a couple of years and use the material at the bottom. I like the idea of trying to grow some wild quinoa even if we only manage a tablespoon full. I thought it would come from some highly exotic tropical plant.
We’ve had a few good downpours over the last month so everything has stayed nice and green....I think we’re due rain today. Certainly not complaining about it! Yes it will be good fun to see if I can get anything off the quinoa plant!
Had a good laugh about the cucumber at the end, those spring onion seeds looked good, do you have to further dry the seed?
Just glad that cucumber wasn’t a giant pumpkin or I would have been in real trouble! 😂. Yes I will allow the seed to really dry out on a bit of kitchen paper or something, before I store it away. Thanks for watching!🤗
