Sweet and Sour Pork (Tangsuyuk: 탕수육)

  • Tangsuyuk is a Korean-Chinese crunchy dish that consists of pieces of fried pork coated in a jelly-like sweet and sour sauce filled with colorful fruits and vegetables.
    This was always my #1 favorite dish when I was young!

    Maangchi! ❤ I‘ve made your Tangsuyuk and it‘s sooo crispy and delicious, I went and bought another batch of meat to fry and freeze! Will be amazing refried in the air fryer for a quick lunch with rice, or midnight instant noodles 😋 Thank youu 😘

    I used to have vegan version of this dish while I was studying in Seoul. Back then I had limited budget but I don't regret the money spent for this for a second :) it comes to my mind from time to time and this time I wanted to find a recipe so here i am...     There are so many cooking channels on CZcams these days.     It has been almost 3 years since I started watching your videos.. I was still in my 8th grade back then, and I really enjoyed your recipe with the honey buttered chicken and until now I still cook it at home and it really is the best 💓.       Yes you can use corn starch. I have used it many many times to make a similar recipe.

    When i lived in Pyeongtaek i first discovered this at the Korean-Chinese restaurant chain Hong Kong BanJum 0410. I mnissed this as it was my favorite dish from there. I a glad you mnade this recipe because now i can make at home!, which is a lot closer then traveling back to korea to find it again haha :).

      : ) 꼭 만들어보세요. 두번 튀기고 마지막 튀길때 부서질것 같을 정도로 바삭하게 튀기세요. 그리고 펄펄 끓는 소스를 끼얹으시면 되요. 소스만들때 레시피보다 더 달게 만들고 싶으시면 설탕을 더넣으세요. 만들기전 레시피를 꼭 참고하세요. www.maangchi.com/recipe/tangsuyuk

    So many good techniques here. I had forgotten the starch trick since last time I thumbs up. Using a strainer to remove deep fried items is super. I then use the strainer adding a coffee filter to drain the oil in a large bowl to use again.

      @@Maangchi Yesterday I went to the store to make this your way. Dang, I forgot the pineapple, which I usually always use for SSPork. I already don't have the oriental wood-ear mushrooms; as now I'm retired and my import store was across town. I saw you add apple, so that should help for sweetness.

    Tried this for today's lunch. Used cornstarch instead of potato starch ('coz that's what we have in the kitchen 🤣) and it turned out really really crispy. It was perfect. ♥️
