Eddie : "excuse the playing" ( proceeds to play better than 99% of us on CZcams here!) ALSO: To comment on your intended focal point of interest, let me just precede by letting you know that I'm a bedroom producer and true aural perfectionist with about a billion supremely underground (like way way way way way deep dark down underground ) & indie rock credits myself. That being said, I've always preferred the more raucous and 'live' production and Guitar tones on MCIS as opposed to the perfect, cold, sterile bombast of SD. So personally, (and i know, No one else WOULD ever agree with me here on this) i much prefer the snarling, dare i call it 'nasty' octave/pitch shifted )tone here for the Cherub Rock solo than the actual Album cut and would LOVE to hear what that, and hell, all of the solos, (hear that Hummer!? Bring it on Quiet!!) Would sound like effected by this affectation!
Ohhh man, you nailed that tone, i was always wondering is it was octave effect with flanger/phaser type of sound, i've tried to get that tone million times, but it was always far from original. By the way, can you show the settings on microsynth, 'cause i've no idea how to use it, and will never adjust switches the right way, without seeing it
There's a secret to this. It's more than just the Microsynth. I have a Jordan Buzztone running overtop of it as well as a phase 100. That and tape flanging gets you 100% the way there. I'll be doing a video going deep into each of the lead tones from Siamese Dream as soon as I get my current videos up.
@@themanwhostolethetone I would love to try the patch. I picked up a Strymon Deco that nails the Cherub Rock tape flange recently. I posted a quick demo of it on my IG and the Smashing Pumpkins Sub Reddit a couple weeks back playing the Cherub Rock solo.
I cover the Microsynth and phaser (Phase 100) here. Thanks for watching! The Lead Guitar Sounds of Siamese Dream (The Smashing Pumpkins) czcams.com/video/KCegzAXgpEA/video.html
The Earthquaker Devices Bit Commander can do the job. It doesn’t have the same modulation section but for Pumpkins purposes, it can do the job well with better tracking.
@@EddieClark ah cool, im not super familiar with the microsynth honestly, maybe the tape flange is the missing thing... which is pretty hard to replicate lol
Thank you! If you see "Here is No Why" pop up before "Cherub Rock"... it's because I have a wonderful girlfriend that really wants to see that one done... and she's been playing the girlfriend card.
i am so excited to hear the cherub rock cover!! youre the best :)

I always thought it should sound a bit more broken but this is really good

@@EddieClark Man, you're best, keep fking rocking✌️
@@EddieClark you can emulate tape flange (tzf) with the eventide H9 flanger algo, i can give you my patch.

@@EddieClark i send you a comment with the link of the patch but maybe youtube has delete it

Would be nice to see the settings on the MS and what phaser are in this chain as well!

@@EddieClark Nice. Ill check it! I love the Phase 100... really gets that Plume sound!
My microsynth crapped out on me. I've been trying to think of a substitute for this pedal. Any suggestions?

a square wave fuzz on top would nail it!
That is a square wave fuzz 👍
@@EddieClark ah cool, im not super familiar with the microsynth honestly, maybe the tape flange is the missing thing... which is pretty hard to replicate lol
No worries! The Microsynth has a slider called square wave that adds the synth fuzz in. Its a pretty potent pedal. Go try one out 👍👍
Oh yeah, yes on the tape flange. I completely agree. I'm going to try a Strymon Deco today to see if I can nail it down a bit better.
@@EddieClark its on the list!! I just got a yellow hybrid tone bender, so im trying not to buy any more pedals for a while hahaha
Yo it's been a month where's that Cherub Rock cover
Work life was heavy this last month. I'm down with a good reminder though 👍
On it.
@@EddieClark can't wait lol your tones are amazing

Is this a vintage or reissue Microsynth?
It's the reissue
