    5:40 Haha I picked this deck up today on my way back from work. I grabbed a booster too because why not. I managed to crack the alternate art Shadrix in my booster and my friend is threatening to eat my cards because of the weird luck I've had in pulls lately. Good to know the shad dragon is a good upgrade.

    I can't blame you for not understanding the full extent of Breena's ability, they worded it so weirdly, but you not only gain benefit from it yourself, as its whenever "a player attacks one of your opponents" but it also can trigger multiple times per combat. If in a 4 player game player A has the lowest life total, both you (player b) and player a can attack players c and d and they trigger Breena individually as the player completes all the requirement of attacking an opponent with more life than another opponent... and if one of those attacks makes player c or d now have the lowest life total... they get it as well. So for each opponent, you CAN get two triggers if it lines up that the lowest life total after each combat goes in turn order, you could get 8 triggers (16 counters) but even in the "average" case scenario, where only you and the low life opponent do it but all players engage with the mechanic on their turn at least once, you get 6 triggers, aka 12 counters.
    As a side note, I think the Impetus cycle is just worse than the vow cycle, as when the game breaks down to a 1v1 you're screwed (that also happens to be when Breena stops working, so double screwed) but forcing players to attack is a great way to get them to hate you and try everything in their power to come after you. You want them to want to use the things you offer them, if you force them, they're gonna retaliate. When i recreated the deck, i took out the goad cards and moved into monarch, my strategy is make them want what I'm offering, and not to literally force them to do things but to make not doing what I want just seem like they're losing out on too much to pass up.

    @Papycolza Před 3 lety +8

    Theoretically you could get up to 12 counters +1+1 during your opponents turn if they each attack 2 other opponents that have more life than them (though it's hard to pull off)

    Not bad suggestions! We even made some of the same swaps though I I also have inkling genration because of the drops from my (oddly enough Prismari and Lorehold) kits so I added in Stadium since potentially we can Aura up or put the opponent i a contract then hit them with our inklings to get counters and have an additional stick to beat them with if they need directing towards the rest of the table. Basically to me this deck is Among Us playing the Impostor. You want to shift blame, get people to infighting then murder either the strong guy or turn somebody at the table into a target for the othesrs before doing down to 1 x 1. Being Orzhov you can do this insanely easily.
    Also one swap I don't totally agree with and think you need more info on: you're working from the idea that Breena stays our Commander but there's actually several swaps in here you can use and one I think most people will realize works insanely well with Stinging Study is Magister of Worth. one black one white four colorless angel comming in at a modest 4/4 but her power is nuts. Basically the table votes for Grace of Condemnation. If Grace is majority all players bring back their creatures from the GY. If it's Condemnation however everything but her dies. Basically two major things here she's a board wipe or she's a powerful beater that can clear the board add to this if you have excess mana (which you should unless you're unlucky and against a commander that destroys lands or somebody who just won't stop blowing up your mana rocks) you can then make use of Stinging Study in big way. You lose life and draw cards you can then latter go into something also beater-like with Death's Shadow or wait and combine it with a card that says when you lose life they lose life to finish off that last pesky fellow hiding behind an army of tokens, big booty stomper with reach or just a spell that says he can't take combat damage.
    Honestly I think it's the most underestimated of the precons. You get so much with it's quirky style and get to play the Master Manipulator Palpatine type either converting your fellow table mates into being your personal CIS and killing them or turning everyone on the board against one another. The only real weakness it'll have is either experienced players who already play this style or trying to do to much too early and occasionally making a mortal enemy who won't rest until they get you for "daring to mess with their forces". Thalia nearly took me out with pure aggro creatures and her little "pay 1 extra to play non-creatures" for example. -.- Stupid little heretic didn't believe I was a benevolent force and just wouldn't quit hitting me until I couldn't use most of my stuff and had to board wipe which ofcourse made me a threat to the others at the table undoing all my plots and machinations I had worked so hard to forge!
    >.> But that's the perils of being a darklord I guess.

    when Tomor said that gideon would never ultimate. i was slightly indignant as i have successfully ulted him twice with my playgroup. i still refer to him as bad gideon but you would be surprised what you can get away with you utilize your silver tongue.

    Another fun card to look at that is often overlooked is Dauthi Embrace. It is a great way to mess up combat math especially on other opponents turns. Got an opponent that doesn't want to attack cause opponent has blockers Shadow makes there creature unblockable. The attacked opponent doesn't want to take the damage... ok what can you offer me to make sure creature had shadow as well.

    Nice. Most of the adds were things I was already considering. I am going to glom this upgrade package together with the Command Zone's upgrade package, throw in some better lands, and call it good. I am definitely loving Shadrix in this deck.

    I know you’re getting a lot of positive and negative feedback around these pre-con upgrade videos…… but, let me give one more.
    I’d really like to see the list that you would personally build for yourself. Regardless of budget. Use cards you already own even if they’re duals, reserve list, etc. I want to see the ideal list so that I can work towards some symbolince of it.

    7.05 - Well this is awkward. I won with this deck against homemade decks (by people who are usually terrifyingly good) with Gideon. Pumped him to 20 on the first round he was out, managed to protect him with Guardian Archon (awkward again at 8.40), at made my opponents scoop because they'd be dead two turns after that anyway.
    I get that it's of limited use, but that play was absolutely top tier for me.

      I think Felissa would be a better Commander to upgrade for 50$ than this for 20$. Felissa need a complete overhaul, therefore 20$ would not be enough. Breena really does not work when you only play against one friend. Which is in my case, most of the times. That is why I am focusing more on Felissa. +bonus points for her being cute :-)

    Played the deck out of the box last week and Gideon overperformed. Someone with a ton a tokens makes Gideon a huge beater and/or a board wipe. Remember that Gideon's ultimate destroys lands too.

    • @MTGGoldfishCommander
      @MTGGoldfishCommander  Před 3 lety

      Results may vary for any card, but it puts a massive target on the walker, redirecting attacks to opponents over to him. Being a beater is meh, and honestly if people are letting him ultimate that's more on them and they'll learn for next match.

      @@MTGGoldfishCommander I also think that this Gideon rather weak, and is good to swap out. He really only gets somewhere when people let him go, and in this situation also stalls your strategy.
