- This video shows you how to change the parts in your engine to delete DOD, DOD is what the vehicle uses to be more fuel-efficient, also known as Active Fuel Management, it is also notorious for failing and causing some serious engine problems. This video will show you how to remove the DOD. After doing this I recommend getting a tune for your vehicle immediately. You will need to get online and look up "DOD delete kit" for your specific engine. That should include all of the parts we use in this video. Thanks for watching! I guess you didn't see that chunk of glass under the drivers side rear lifter cradle.
The more of these videos I see, the happier I am with my 2004 Avalanche. No DOD to deal with.
Yeah I hear that!
great video
Sweet! Can't wait to do this to my 2007 Impala SS.
But imma do it with the motor in the car.!
Thx for the Video!
May be a little difficult on that car with the motor in it, those have sideways motors cause they're front-wheel-drive, some things may be a little hard to get to.
@@1018Video I'm aware. Now do I absolutely need a tune after? What does a Tune do?
@@cammims7645 computer is programmed to use AFM, so it's going to try and activate the AFM system...with no system the computer is going to get no response and tell the auto " hey something is broken, reduce power and speed to 15mph turn on the service light refuse to start until gm fixes what's wrong"
I came here for the piece of glass, Yeah It worked! LOL 😆
Horsepower.

Thank you! I appreciate it! Thanks for watching!
Your smart man
did you had to change the cam?
Did you change the cam? I see some videos where it said you have to change the AFM cam.
did you listen to the video....he already stated use the whole kit replace everything...CAM is one of the parts
So i bought a cam kit for my 2011Camaro ss its an Automatic .
I bought the kit from tsp it comes with the basics but it didn’t come with a dod/Afm delete kit . If i want to cam my camaro i have to get this kit correct ?
You'll need to EMail them and ask them, that's pretty important.
Good video. I would have had that engine cleaned up before putting those lifters in. When I worked in a few auto dealerships way back when, two things were guaranteed to get you fired if seen by the shop foreman…1: using a crescent wrench and 2: using a impact to put something back together.
This is a weak impact, couldn't break a screw on a toy, lol. Yeah it was a dirty engine but they didn't pay to have it cleaned, cleaning takes quite a bit of time to do it right.
@@1018Video Are you kidding me, there was a chunk of glass in between the new lifters that you left in there, what a JOKE!
@@jerrya2801 lmao ! @9:30
Back in your day people got fired

Usted cambia el árbol de levas?
Le realiza algún cambio en software de la computadora del carro?
Not sure what you said.
You change the camshaft and do some tuning to the ECU?
I’ve seen videos of tunes like the Diablosport allowing you to disable the dod from kicking in without removing any of this.
The problem with that is that the lifters that are notorious for failing, and are the main reason for people deleting the DOD on these engines, are still in the engine if you just get a tune that turns it off.
The failure happens from a miss timed evend causing the pin to get lodged and cause the lifter to stick disabled if the lifter never goes into disable it can't get stuck
@@daviddubuisson5194 the failure happens when the spring between the two pins gets worn, and the pins don't retract properly...a miss timed event happens once every 2000 events or so any ways and with enough of those the pin(s) get bent into the opening and once that happens...just a matter of wear and tear until it becomes catastrophic
just yout opinion, do majoritie of lifters not fail and majority of 6.2!? i see alot of ppl say they have no problems with 250k miles plus
also to avoid lifter problems change oil a 3k mile not 8. 9 ,10k miles?
All GM V8's (even the newer ones) with DOD have a high probability of failing.
Buenas tardes hice ese trabajo pero me fallan los taquetes cortos dónde reemplace los integrantes... No sé que problema tendré ahí, deje la misma leva no sé que más podría hacerle para quitar la falla... Saludos
I don't know what you said.
You put the old cam back in , or you left it in
What kinda of motor is this? I have an L99 Camaro 2014 6.2 are they all the same way to delete DOD or slightly different? Thanks either way!
I believe it's the same for them all.
Can I just do a AFM DELETE without changing the DOD lifters?
It's the same thing
Dont you have to lube the lifters?
If it's in the video, yes, if not, no, lol.
Had a question, when I do my DOD Delete on my 2008 GMC Sierra, is it necessary to change the Camshaft? Also where can I get a DOD Delet kit? Thanks.
Did u find out that’s what I’m tryna figure out
You don't have to change the camshaft.
u mean to tell me he trusts o rings more than plugs that are drilled and tapped 😅
he doesn't trust YOU and every other knucklehead operating power equipment to not misuse or make a mistake with the teflon tape...guess your hearing and comprehension justifies his statement.
Great video on how NOT to perform this mod .
It worked lol.
Man what oil pressure filter did you used
I don't remember lol.
@@1018Videowhat’s a good site to get the dod kit from. I see several of them but I want the best or durable stuff
Don't you have to change the camshaft too?
You do not.
What happens to the knock sensors?
I don't remember, I'm the camera-man, if it's not in the video I wouldn't know lol.
Knock sensors on this generation 5.3 are on the sides of the block.
Did you leave that chunk of glass in there with the lifters? LOL
Yes, added about 20hp.
Lmfao!!! 🤣😆🤣😆
9:39 it's to big to get sucked up through the pickup screen on the oil pump!
Did you change the cam?
Yes, but you don't have to.
@@1018Video yes you do
@@delwortman2799
Not necessarily, the cam is no different from any other cam, there was no issue with this cam but the owner had a bigger cam for us to install. The most important thing to do when doing the DOD delete is to remove the DOD lifters and install normal lifters, that's what fails on these engines, the lifters.
Hmmm. Probably not how clean I’ll keep mine. But it might work.
It worked but there are better ways lol.
Only way to not have to get a tune is keep the old valley cover and keep it plugged up, keep it at the back/side of the motor somehow and drive in M5 Mode it willl never kick v4 mode on. (Alil temp hack) Mine still has dod (which i hate) and i drive in M5 mode and it stays in v8 mode
What is M5 mode?
Can you still run dod camshaft I was told the lobe height and lobe off set was different there for you had to swap out the camshaft for a non dod camshaft
I don't think you have to change cams, I've got a friend with a 2020 Camaro SS and he did the DOD delete and he still has the stock cam.
Yes you do have to change the cam don’t listen to this guy. Don’t do all this work for nothing.
@@1018Video you have to change the cam
@@matthew6202
The cam is literally no different from any other cam lol the lifters are what do the DOD, you only have to change the cam if it has damage.
What's the best replacement cam.
why did you not change the cam
It had no damage.
The stock cam will not work with those lifters. You MUST change the cam.
How is that? What is the difference in the cams?
Lift, duration...
My late model kit runs 1200 bucks from ams racing ,
Not a bad deal!
Oh my goodness that wasn’t glass that was metal. bearing material ????? Yeah if that motor is still on the road I’m definitely not worried about doing this on my 2012 LC9.
@@Johnny-jr2lq
Still runs fine today. 😎
@@1018Video not joking that is amazing
Shade tree mechanic's, remove the head starting it one end, has no clue. Remove same as installed.
Those lifter maybe junk or not but the one you going to put is after market they worst then a junk they are not any special
The special thing about the aftermarket ones is that they are brand new and the ones we took out of the motor are old as hell lol.
What a monster this guy just used ugga duggas as torque specs
🤣 🤣 🤣
Man you got to be joking this guy doesn’t even clean the block all that debris and glass
Yeah that's fine.
Jesus break everything by hand first then run them out with the impact
Nahh, lol.
You're rough af bro
It works lol.
@@1018Video yup that's the best part.
oh my god this pseudomechanic ...poor customers
