Hi, been a fan for years. I have a very good question for you. I’m eating those miracles noodles made from glucomannan omad. It’s been 6 days & I’m in large ketosis. I’m not spiking insulin so my question is. If I’m only having this & staying in full ketosis, am I missing other components of a regular fast? Or is this close to the same? I couldn’t find much info on this & thought you would know.

I'm an Uber driver and I was 3.5 days into a fast when my passangers wanted to stop at In N Out. They offered to buy my a burger. I was so tempted to take the free food, break my fast, get a protein style burger and keep it keto. I had every reason to justify doing it. But I resisted. They ate the food in my car too. It smelled so good

To add to my last comment I'm a 57 year old man 5' 10 1/2" who started intermittent fasting on August 27, 2020 weight of 310lbs. I have lost 113lbs so far intermittent fasting. I was a heavy smoker and drinker (Beer and whiskey). I ate fast food daily. Was on many psychological medications. My BP was 200/106. I used a CPAP machine for many years. Today May 15, 2021 my weight is 197lbs I no longer smoke or drink. Or take any prescription drugs! Zero!!! My BP is 117/74. And I no longer need my CPAP machine. And my blood panels are perfect. I still would like to lose 20-30 more pounds and stay at that weight for the rest of my life. All in all it's been a very exciting and long 8 and a half months. But I have learned so much about fasting and my health. And became a much healthier and happier person. I've gone from size 44 pants to size 32. And from 4X shirts to large (medium soon).

And your stomach shrinks so you eat less and feel full faster. And you flush out bad stuff and soon your body feels healthier and you feel happier. Your grocery bill goes down, you take more interest in your appearance and are less self-conscience and more outgoing. You feel like you are a part of some bigger plan and you start telling other people about the positives of intermittent fasting. And you have more compassion for others struggling with their weight and health and want to expose Big Food Companies and Big Pharma for their lies that keeps us feeling unhealthy and addicted to the crappy and expensive products they promote. They get richer and we get poorer and sicker😢...

We were so busy running all around we barely ate but once a day maybe 2 times. As an adult I’m eating 3 meals a day a bunch of sitting around and snacking. I lost 108 lbs. in a year back in 2009, with NO loose skin afterward. I didn't even realize I was doing any fasting, but I was careful not to snack at night and usually never ate anything 'til I was done working out the next day, which added another three hours. So, I suspect I was very close to the 18/6 without even realizing it. I switched up the exercise between power walking, weight training and step classes at the gym, and also took one day off. This picture of me was taken at the end of one year. Unfortunately, I got fat again, but within 2 weeks of doing 18-22 hour fasts and cutting out the sugar and white flour, I'm down 10 lbs. and feel like I'll be able to get it all off again, and KEEP it off this time.
I was always resistant to the very idea of fasting, but now I finally "get it" thanks to Dr. Fung. Thank you, sir, and God bless you! My brother, who wasn't even very overweight, lost 6 lbs. in two weeks. Two of my other friends are reading the book right now. If we all share with friends who are sick and desperate, maybe we can turn this obesity thing around.

By the third day my body thought I was starving to death. I was so hungry!!! Day 4, sill hungry, day 5 almost not hungry at all. Day 6 hunger pains gone. I started getting headaches so I looked into it, and it seams that headaches are from detoxing. I need to detox bad!!! I just cleaned my oven with horrible chemicals. Choaked me up several times. Yes I wore a 🎭 mask. Stopped p.....ing after the 8th day. There is so much build up you'll have little bits with your water for days. Ewwww gross. Getting excellently cleaned out by water.
On the 13 fast i lost about 15 lbs and on the 17 day fast. I lost 20 lbs.
Right now I'm looking at starting another fast. During your fast you will get thousands of temptations. Not just food temptations, the devil wants to cause you to fall any way he can. During those days; food, lust, anger, and the list goes on. Overcome it with prayer. When these things happen, just say what Jesus said. Devil get the behind me. Say to him to...go where Jesus commands you to go.

I've done every diet (gained, lost and regained with bonuses) keto the longest (2 years with only small amount of weight loss) but then eventually crave carbs (blood group A). On vegetarian diets to suit blood type I gain heaps.
As most people though with any diet I start to think of what I shouldn't have then feel guilty when I break it. This guilt then turns to binges.
So now at 66 I do 22/2 and eat anything I want (SAD) in my 2 hour window. Best thing I ever did.
It's usually lunchtime feeding and I have lost 6kg over 3 months so far, albeit it's slow but WITHOUT guilt...... donuts, fry ups, sandwiches, pizza, pasta, potatoes, icecream, all the things everyone says you shouldn't have.
I'm then not hungry until the next day and if I have a function to go to I can even go longer on the fast without qualms and eat later but I always bring it back to lunchtime the following day.
Love love love it. When not eating I drink lots of herbal teas. Also take vitamins and minerals in case I miss out on some nutrients. My exercise is walking the dog for about 20 minutes.
Have more to lose but don't care how long it takes now that my body and mindset is really happy.
Blood works look good as well, including the thyroid that was struggling previously, borderline Hashimoto (doctor's words) to near normal (couldn't believe that one).

I went low carb, then after three weeks or so to keto and then was able to do One Meal a Day with 23/1, and it feels so good. I never weighed myself. I have gone down 8 cm around my belly (button), two holes on my belt, two holes on my Apple Watch strap.
The Apple Watch Health app has all parameters going into the positive direction. It is remarkable. I started end of May 2023 and half July you can really see the graphs improving. I don’t know what I weigh right now. I don’t care. I measure by belly a couple of times per week. From 124cm down to 116 right now, 105 would be nice to reach. We‘ll see. I am not putting myself under pressure. I even had six strawberries tonight after dinner. I change between OMAD and TMAD, canned sardines for 72 hours only every so often, Apple Cidre Vinegar and Bulletproof Coffee with MCT Oil (that really has a positive effect on my overall feeling - but you need to see how much is tolerable for you, and not towards the end of fasting period)
Good luck on your journey and discovering what is working best for you.

I started IF with keto, low processed foods, no sugar and artificial sweeteners to heal my insulin resistance. I added sprint HIIT workouts twice a week. It felt exhilarating! I went from 182 to 140 in 4 months. I had days where I went off plan and just did a 36 hr fat blasting fast to get the extra weight I had gained off. I spent 4 days in Disneyworld and gained a few pounds lost it in a week. The great thing about a fasting lifestyle is that you can go “off plan” and just jump right back into it and maintain your weight. I love Dr. Mindy Pelz’s (checkout her book “Fast like a girl”) videos in addition to Dr. Jason’s & Dr. Berg’s.

Wow! Good job! You are SO close to your goals. If you eat your one meal early enough in the day, you can increase your time fasting, overnight. If you keep making your window ( to eat) smaller, you'll be close enough to take the next step. NO food for, 24 hrs 48, or even 72 hrs. You'll get the best results with 72 hours. You're SO close to being there. You'll be amazed at how good you'll feel, and how much weight ( fat, only) that you'll lose. OMAD you are also losing muscle, as the Doctor says: full fasting your body will only lose the fat. You can do it! Good luck! ( I've had great success with fasting over the years. It's allowed me to easily stay at my ideal weight, size 4, for over ten years now. I love it!!)

@@robertgreene2621 Try One Meal A Day (OMAD) with low carb food to let your body adapt. Water or black coffee/tea only (helps keep hunger away). First few days are the hard part, then energy levels are high all the time. I still do OMAD now. Once your body unlocks the fat store by lowering insulin, you have a massive supply of energy from your fat. As soon as you eat, the fat is locked away for another 4-6 hours. I only eat dinner in the evening. Just drink a few glasses a day and more if your pee is too yellow! Have a bit extra salt when you do eat. Longer fasts once you build some confidence. Rob, the fasting idea is scary I know - but you have everything to gain. Stay optimistic and best of luck! You got this!

I have been eating healthy prior, moderate exercise, but my weight would never go down which de-motivates me. For re-feeding day, I am freezing small portions of dinner that was made during my fast. 20/4 IF was hard for me, made me constantly tired and not feeling good. 16/8 IF came naturally, basically meaning skipping breakfast and having last meal before 8 pm. So the schedule looks like that - lunch at noon, light snack at 4 pm, and a supper before 8 pm. Went from 310 lbs to 250 lbs in about 6 months. After watching this video now I'm thinking of incorporating one day a week of total fasting to allow for autophagy effect to kick-in, to get to my target 225 lbs.

Thanks for helping me Dr Jason. Read your work before the pandemic last year in February. Devoted myself to following the principles you wrote about and up to now I’ve lost 88 pounds and I’ve managed to maintain this weight comfortably. Thank you for changing my life 🙏🏾

Dr. FUNG. The least I can do is watch those commercials. So much knowledge shared for free. Thank you! 😊

Assuming these are correct assertions, this is the best presentation on fasting I’ve heard in my 60+ years.
