    I have terrible hunger for the first three days, by day four I lose the hunger... by day ten I really feel a lot of energy... by day 21 I find the Spiritual awareness really kicks in. Every day after 21 days is beyond fabulous with incredible insights, clarity of mind and tranquility. I fast on water-only. I never use electrolytes, vitamins or anything other than tap water filtered with a Britta filter. I have done many fasts on water. My first fast was for 30 days in 1974. It was the BEST experience of my life.

      Thanks for sharing your experience! I can relate to some of the things you said. Personally I find consuming salt on my fasting days helps with hunger, energy, and other side effects. Another thing that kind of reduces hunger for me is if I get into nutritional ketosis before I start.

      2 tsp of Pink Himalayan Salt in a steel water bottle sipping it throughout the day (don't guzzle it down!) is all you need for electrolytes, especially if it's just 72 hours or less. Get another water bottle for filtered water only, go back and forth drinking between the two. Only doing water gives me bad headaches, nightmares and hard to sleep. With the pink Himalayan salt, you don't experience any of that.

      I did a 40 day fast in the late 90s. Started out water then I added some fruit juice, broth or even ensure in small amounts. I’ve never been so spiritually sensitive. I heard God by the sheer awareness of the same thread of truth from various unrelated sources, Bible, radio, billboard, comments from a relative. Beyond coincidence and it was a healing message I needed to move forward in life. Beautiful season. Hard, but good.

    Half an avocado is about 130 calories. How does that not break your fast?

    • @FastingWell
      @FastingWell  Před 8 dny

      You can call it modified fasting, or fasting-mimicking if you want. But the reason it doesn't necessarily "break" a fast is because most of the same processes will continue in our bodies, despite that small amount of food intake. It's not enough to raise blood sugar much (for most people), won't really interfere with ketone production, etc. Most of the energy from the avocado is fat, so it's also kind of like "fat fasting". If you can go without, fine. But if not, it's a perfectly reasonable thing to use as "training wheels".

    Thank you for sharing your knowledge! May I ask you something. At the end you said a very lean person might not wanna do a lot of this. I would kind of assume that is because if there is little fat "left" to burn, the body would switch to an uproportionate (and of course highly undesired) amount of protein recruitement to fufil its energy requirements ... ?
    Thank you!

    • @FastingWell
      @FastingWell  Před rokem

      Yep, that's pretty much it! The less body fat you have, the more protein you would have to tap into during a prolonged fast. And vice versa. So I think in general, the amount of fasting one does should be proportionate to how much extra body fat one has.

    • @d3nnis405
      @d3nnis405 Před rokem +2

      Thank you again for the swift reply!
      It is kind of ironic though, that once you've switched to a low carb diet and shed the excess fat and come to like fasting, that now, you even have to restrict *that* 😅

    • @FastingWell
      @FastingWell  Před rokem +1

      @@d3nnis405 No problem! Haha, yeah, good point. I guess it's a question of what you're optimizing for. For someone who is obese and has type 2 diabetes, prolonged fasting can be super beneficial and helps them optimize for fixing their diabetes, which is typically the biggest threat to their long-term health. But once that person is metabolically healthy and no longer overweight, perhaps the biggest threat is simply becoming weak and deconditioned with age. In which case it w may not make sense to do very much prolonged fasting anymore. Or at least less frequently. :)

    My blood sugar increase from 85-97 (night) to 97- 106 (morning), i do intermittent fasting and my eating time 12.00 to 14.00, that's weird..

    • @FastingWell
      @FastingWell  Před rokem

      Not sure if you've heard of the "dawn phenomenon"? It's common for people to get a blood sugar spike in the morning because cortisol is at its highest level in the early morning. So it seems weird at first glance, but it's actually pretty common. Sometimes it improves by switching the eating window a bit earlier or later, or longer or shorter...

    hi can i continue with.supplements such as vit.b, glutathione while fasting? Thanks

    • @GoddessGebrina
      @GoddessGebrina Před 10 dny

      Yes... if its pill form its technically breaks your fast but if you can put the contents in water and skip the caps you will get the same healing , it seems logical you may delay time frames by small increments bc the body processes everything that it encounters but you will still get the long-term effect.... some people should absolutely supplement when they are long term fasting continuously bc you 100% will not be consuming needed minerals.... but I've found if you are a beginner, obese, properly nutritioned, you really don't need them if it's a 1 off for a few days... But this just my findings from years of personal fasting and research... In the first few years I didn't need anything. 9 day water fast or less... ultimately you have to experience what your body needs personally...

    • @FastingWell
      @FastingWell  Před 8 dny

      Most supplements are okay. But got to consider what's in it. Mainly avoid anything with sugar/carbs (more than say 1 g, for example). And ideally avoid sweeteners. But vitamins and minerals are mostly okay to use during fasting (though you may or may not need them).

    • @petermacdonald6332
      @petermacdonald6332 Před 10 hodinami

      You don’t lose muscle in a fast, in fact you burn fat and your body during autophagy will recycle any used proteins. You’re good until many days in. Dr Jason Fung is another good resource.

      Same lane as you right now, its depending on your metabolism and age.
      For me if doing a long term fast. ill work out heavy two days before fast and the day before ill have heavy meals and next day start the fast. From there ill work out every three days from the last time i worked out doing same weights in the gym going slow ofc.
      This helps me maintain muscle. Im on my third day of fast atm and went to the gym doing same weights no problem and going for a 14day fast. Been doing this for a while. Good luck

    If people don’t see gods design in creation after you see what the body can do I don’t know what will. Romans 1:20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.
    “A partial eye is useless. Five percent of an eye would not give five percent vision-it would give none. What is more, even if all the physical components of an eye were in place, they would achieve nothing unless they were precisely ‘wired’ to an amazing complex of nerve cells in the brain. Small wonder that someone has suggested, ‘Examination of the eye is a cure for atheism.’”
