Getting dangerously close to my turf, Arris. Haha
Wow I was seriously thinking the same thing hahaha
I wasnt even paying attention and thought it WAS yours till the theme popped up lol
It's like a mix between tie-in and comic misconsceptions
please have my children
InigioMonteddybears Me?
This is why I love this channel "cause it looks cool"
Batman- " do you know why i have white eyes ?"
Superman- " because your.."
Batman- " BECAUSE I'M BATMAN!!! "
When I was young, I thought they were rolling their eyes the entire time.
hunterkiller1440 that sounds terrifying
Same bro
bro same
thats hilarious omfg
I actually wish someone would try to make this look work in live action.
Batman's white eyes in the leaked BvS trailer look epic, especially because it is his silhouette. Proof that it can work in live action.
In the Dark Knight he uses a sonar thing that makes his eyes look white like they do in the comics, but he doesn't wear it the whole movie; but at least it shows that it can be done.
D.C. Stranded Who is that in ur display picture? It looks awesome.
Bane391 Morgan Freeman's son, the Batwing!
Nightman221k looks strange though (Nice profile pic btw)
One of the reasons is also the fact that when you fight somebody (this really goes well in Batman's case) you have to look straight into his eyes, you get a lot of information regarding their intentions, emotions all that kind of stuff. That's why warriors of the Asian culture used to wear bamboo hats, it would conceal their eyes while they could see the eyes of their enemies.
Batman would kinda look weird with normal eyes he looks way cooler with white eyes
True
***** He looked pretty good in Arkham Origins despite seeing his eyes, although definitely a lot less mysterious and inhuman.
In the Arkham games, his eyes aren't white unless you're using Detective Vision. I think it's a nice bridge between the two.
Mitchell Wisniewski In most cut scenes he had white eyes.
***** No he didn't, I don't think he had white eyes in a single cutscene in any of the Arkham games.
Why do superheroes wear capes ?
I always heard that it made it easier to convey motion. That's why it was so common among golden age characters.
Also Why do Superheroes wear their underwear on the outside
Puthearoth Buth The real question is , Is it still underwear if they wear it outside ? Or did their pants become their underwear ?
batman uses his cape to glide
Why are superheros ssuperheros
Could you do an episode on Moon Knight. I am not a hardcore Marvel fan so I have no I idea who he is. Plus your videos are better than google.
Dude everything is better than Bing
No offense, but you can't consider yourself a hard core fan if you don't know Marvel's unpopular characters.
SlothGiraffe he said "im NOT a hardcore fan"
Prahlad Bharj what is Bing? is it a new fast food restaurant or something?
google it Agel1ic
Allegedly, the first superhero to wear the white-eyed domino mask was Lee Falk's The Phantom. The eye details seemingly stopped being drawn because they tended to become muddled with the black space of the domino mask itself, creating some chaotic lines. so instead it was stylized to be all white instead. The style caught on.
Dude I just wanted to tell you that I love your videos and I look forward to watching them every week
I was thinking of this just now! That's a truly good timing, dude. Thanks
Thank you for the input. That was very enlightening. Also the bat logo was nice to learn about.
Awesome and informative!!
I always wondered about this. Thanks.
Great video, keep up the good work :)
Arris, dude, you are awesome. I really enjoy your videos. Keep it up, man (Y)
This is one of the most informative episodes i've seen in a long time. THIS IS WHY I SUSCRIBED!
watch ur vids makes me happy and educated on comics and history on characters
I would love a video explaining how superheroes like Batman, Green Arrow, or Captain America get into their costumes so fast
I think the real reason is that it's fairly hard to correctly draw eyes and have them both looking the same and facing in the correct direction, so having them be white means you don't need to worry about any of that.
Hey awesome video and I was wondering could you do a punisher origin, and a nightcrawler one as well thank
Yup this was important thanks mate😀
In the Arkham games his eyes become white when he is in detective mode
This kind of stuff is cool, as in answering questions that no one seems to ask about comics. It's fun, and these One Minute shows are the best for it.
I like batman
Who doesn't ?
Shend Zhubi
Marvel Fanboys?
Shend Zhubi most of the villians
hey, im a marvel fan and even i like batman
Don't we all?
Thank you
your awesome aris
I'm more interested in knowing why superheroes wear their underwear on the outside!
Now I know.
Look at the Man of Steel costume which has no underwear...That's why.
Hi Arris, is there anyway you and the people at Variant can make a History of Icon? I wanted to learn more about him before I can actually pursue the comics.
Prevents eye identification and protection from debris,
Batgirl: 😖
i never thought that but its really interesting
I've always wondered about this
Add more videos please. I've seen them all :P.
Arris I have followed you since always, and i was wondering if you could do a one shot of the history of jarvis, because his a big part in marvels agent carter and it would be interesting to know the story of iron man's butler
What I always wanted to know was if it was possible to make these white eyes in live action? Not just still ones either but ones that move with the hero's eyebrows and stuff. I personally think it'd be really cool to see!
Deadpool did
@@mauriciorodrix Yup! Man, I can't believe that this was 7 years ago
@@TheMexicanSuperman1 time really flies!!!
Wow! Great video! I never realised that they have white eyes... I guess it looks cooler :D
I honestly think the reason behind the white eyes is just to make the artists job a bit easier. Eyes are not as easy to draw as you might think, they can actually be very difficult and complex, especially when drawing close-ups of a heroes face.
awesome video
Arris, your suoerhero t-shirts are the bomb! Where can I get some shipped to the Philippines? Thanks. Love all your vids by the way.
***** thank you!!
***** I love your videos but I would like to see one that talks about Superman how strong is he cuz they remake Superman like every year and I'm a big fan of Superman but I just don't know what to true abilities cuz they over exaggerate too much
This was well done and interesting to see why superheroes have white eyes nice work
Where do u buy ur shirts they are badass!!!!
Also can you do a history of: Loki? And explain his powers, because avengers and thor (though I loved both) really underplayed his powers and made him look far inferior to Thor when in reality he is the most powerful sorcerer of Asgard
He is also one of the most powerful magic users in the marvel universe dormamau has theorized that his magic could destroy an entire planet not to mention he has a strength limit of 10 tons he probably could have crushed Tonys neck and killed him in the movie instead of just throwing him outside the window
Well this video was pretty cool:)
Off topic: nice figure collection you got there :)
You should do a history of all symbiotes or do a history of flash Thompson/ agent venom
I think, because of aesthetic reasons, but also, because the nature of the work of a lot of superheroes, it's better that their pupils go unseen so no one can identify their eye colours, because that way it better protects their identity.
I thought you'd do a One Shot of the new avengers trailer hehe I guess not because you already did one. Anyways keep them videos coming!
+VariantComics 2 things. first who do you think is better falcon or star lord and second can you do a nova history
the bright eyes (white eyes) are what makes the super hero or villain a badass
Batman and his crew have lenses with a heads up display in their mask and Storm's eyes just turn white when she's using her powers.
i like that little bonus fact at the end about the bat symbol it explains why in a mostly black costume there is a yellow circle in the middle
Shawn I agree
The main reasoning of Batman and the Bat-Family having white eyes translates well into the Arkham games. Any playable character that’s part of the Bat-Family in all four games (excluding Catwoman as she has a different take on the mechanic, and Red Hood or Arkham Knight as his face is always covered), have their eyes turn bright white when the detective mode is turned on. I’m not sure of Azrael.
Interesting about the whole white eyes thing. Also thought the tidbit about Batman's symbol interesting. I'm a big Batman fan! I thought Scott Snyder & Greg Copollo's new Batman stories great. Liked the whole Court of Owls thing. It would interesting if Variant Comics did a video about them.
Could you do a history of Magneto episode? He is one of the most interesting villains ever.
Batmans eyes go white while in detective vision in the Arkham games
Great video arris! 😊 😊 😊 😊 😊 😊 😊 😊 😊 😊 😊 😊 😊 😊 😊 😊 😊
Hey Arris. Could you pleeeeaaase make a history of episode just for Barry Allen Flash?
I know you made a History of the Flash episode but you only mentioned that Barry was struck by lighning. However in recent history of episodes you talk about more stuff for a character. I know I'm asking a lot
Nice video dam I got to get that tshirt lol
1:47
Kyle almost looks Ben-10-like in that picture. Anybody else see that? He's practically got an Omnitrix on his chest.
Hey man, could you do a history of The Darkness please
can you cover the all/most of the alternate versions of superman.
Dude I your videos are sick. 😝😝😝😜😜😜😜😜😜😜
Long time mystery solved after this video!!!
Hey can you make a video on what super power you would have ps. Mine would be the power to control dimension
Could you do an episode on the sentry?
Huh I thought it was an artist's trick *shrugs* well this still was good piece of information.
Amazing shirt. I have that issue, too. Great video.
One way lenses so the hero can see out but nobody else can see in, Stan Lee & Steve Ditko explained it in some issue of Spider-Man back in the sixties and it works as an across the board explanation for the whites in masked superheroe's eyes for me.
Can you do a history of nightwing?
Congratulations Mr. #1 comic book channel of yotube
hey Arris just want to let you know you have fans here in Venezuela
Batman and the Bat-family's lenses also have night and thermal vision, as well as other capabilities sometimes such as recording and binocular vision
Do another on of theses something random this was interesting
Great episode man
Next episode, why superheroes suits are so tight? lol
Its because its made of spandex they need a suit that can stay on them through the harsh battles and conditions they engage in on a daily basis
Lol, I know the classic thing of drawing héroes naked and then paint their bodies.
It would be a fun episode to see in variant
Slayerthecrow I am sure it would be
Awesome
It was all Lee Falk. When he created the Phantom, He wanted to make the character look ghostly/ mysterious and used ancient Roman and Greek sculptures which had no irises. When Bill FInger made his aesthetic suggestions to Bob Kane about how the Batman should look. He sighted the Phantom and Lee Falk's design
Its awesome thats why it just looks cool
The sonar lenses Batman had in The Dark Knight is sort of another explanation. Pretty clever, if you ask me.
Do History of Agent Venom please
Can you do a history on taskmaster
For the record, the live action Dark Knight movies and the Arkham Games have the white eyes thing; in the Dark Knight when Batman uses his sonar vision, and in the Arkham games, any time you use Detective Vision (pan around to look at your face)
Hey variant you should do a vs episode batman vs wolverine night wing vs gambit superman vs Thor punisher vs red hood captain america vs batman
pls do Why Superheroes wear cape
Could you explain the night fall batman story plz
Where did you get comics posters behind computer?
***** Most of those are also at BedBath&Beyond.
I always thought of them as thin white lenses built into the mask. But in the case of Green Lanterns, I think of their white eyes being an effect of the ring to mask their eyes.
Could you do the history of the ghost
Can you make a history of magnetos helmet episode? Please?
Arris did you watch smallville
For so long I wondered
I heard somewhere that it has something todo with the greek human sculptures. Those gods with white eyes add more mistery and superhuman thing to them
dude my favorite shirt yet also I just thought even as a kid the white eyes were lenses
@Variant Comics
Why do I see Josh dancing on the grass, while you recording it, when I see you.
on top of all of that, you could've also mentioned that one of the first (if not the first) heroes to have this artistic choice of the white eyes, was The Phantom, created by Lee Falk on 1936, predating Batman by 3 years =D
Remember that hostage sequence in the Dark Knight that made his eyes white so he could see the sonar?
as a kid i just figured the artist thought it looked cooler and more intimidating with white eyes, i was right :)
Dude that is a dope batman shirt
this was so weird, i have every image he showed except the flash and lantern ones as wallpapers on my cpu
