  • Here we have the new 2022 version of the Black Series Darth Vader Helmet from the Obi-Wan Kenobi TV series. I look at the details and the electronic sound system in the Helmet as well as comparing it to the earlier Black Series Darth Vader Helmet from 2017 . Both of these Helmets were bought from Star Action Figures in the UK: www.staractionfigures.co.uk

Nice review, I'm looking forward to getting my new black series helmet, the upgrades definitely make a positive difference.

The chin vent was also improved from the 2018 one. The only flaw I found in the Kenobi series one is that the sound is of poor quality compared to the 2018 one.

Hi and thanks for looking in. The vent is definitely better/smaller but sadly I think that also relates to the poorer sound experience. I believe the speaker is behind it and the smaller vent seems to significantly lower/muffle the volume of the sound some how. Any way the new one is still a great helmet. Glad you enjoyed the video.

The chin vent in return of the jedi is larger.

Just got the newer one, shes a beauty. What's good for polishing it?

Hi and thanks for stopping by. I'm glad you like your new Vader helmet, it's a great piece to add to any collection. I generally don't polish these, I just dust them with a soft microfibre cloth. If you really wanted to polish them I would recommend Novus No1 Plastic Clean and shine. Hope this helps.

Are those stands specially made for helmets? What kind of prices are we looking at here?

    • @paulsstuff1969

Hi and thanks for taking a look at this video. Yes these are stands made specifically for displaying helmets. They are sold by English Heritage as a way of displaying their replica historical helmets. There is a link in the description, but I think they are currently out of stock. They do seem to re-stock regularly though. I know others also use things like paper towel holders and similar as well. I hope this helps and a very merry Christmas to you.

@@paulsstuff1969 Merry Christmas to you and your family as well. When I asked about prices I should have been more specific. I meant how expensive are these helmets. I guess Ebay is one of the places to get these? Are they even producing the ones from 2018 anymore. Are they more expensive to get now than the newer model or is it the other way around?

@@nammis77 My apologies I completely missed talking about prices. The original helmet from 2018 is as you suggested out of production now and so prices on the secondary market reflect this, although the secondary market drop these dropped a little when the newer version was released as the market flooded with people selling the older version lol. on the whole now they seem to fetch anywhere between £100 and £200 depending on condition.
The newer one is also not in current production as far as I know. Hasbro seems to do just one run of these things and only re-runs them very occasionally if at all. I usually advocate buying these sooner rather than waiting as prices can be high once they are sold out. Sometimes they either over produce a helmet or it doesn't sell well and the prices drop significantly but that is never going to happen with a Vader helmet lol. The newer one can still be had at retail from time to time when a retailer finds some old stock in a warehouse etc... but now the prices are rising on the secondary market. It is more sort after than the original version and the secondary market reflects this. Used you can find it at around £150 - £175, new in box more like £200+.

Apart from the short collar, i prefer the old one. It's how was intended to look in real life. Yes, the proportions are not accurate in any of them, but anyway...

Nice video. I bought the first Black Series release a couple of years ago on the secondary market and of course it cost me and arm and a leg. And if that wasn't pathetic enough, the helmet is pathetic. I hate it. Actually, every Star Wars helmet I own I hate. I'm done with helmets. I like the fact that the new version from Kenobi has a proper neck but it still looks weird to me...

@@paulsstuff1969 The only one I really care about is my 1978 Don Post Vader helmet. Only because I always wanted it s a kid. It looked so good advertised in Starlog magazines of the day. Probably a bit outdated today but at least it had a proper neck...

It’s just a lense insert. Wow. Hasbro. Wow. I’ll save that money and spend it on custom 3d modelers that sell the 3d files for 30$ helmet that’s more accurate. Disgusting of Hasbro. Most fans fell for it
