Holley Sniper 2 EFI Comparison on Big Block Ford 460

- Its no secret that the 70's and 80's were heavy on air restriction in and out of these big blocks, but today we see if swapping out that factory intake manifold really makes a difference. Then, we go further and see if updating from the factory 600cfm Holley to a more modern Sniper 2 EFI fuel injection is worth the cash, in terms of a questionable 0-60 app on my phone and "seat of the pants" feeling when I mat the skinny pedal to the floor.

The Holley sniper and the terminator in my opinion is the best on the market for EFI.
I would have to agree, based purely on stories from acquaintances. This will be my first experience with them.
I think atomize is the word you were looking for.
Indeed it was 🤙
Would love to see what it will do with heads and headers
Same, I think it will be a beast haha
I think you deserve better viewing figures I like it ,I live in Scotland
Thank you! Nice! Scotland is definitely on my list of places to travel to at some point. 🤙
I love your videos you give me courage try to do something but I’m still scared😊😊
Start small! Gain some confidence! 🤙🤙
Great job Art , I love it ,❤LoveJim J&R mobile service and God Bless y'all and your critters
Thank you!
Success you deserve a win, great video, at least you know the Wife was paying attention 😂, thanks for bringing us along.
😂 she's always paying attention
What a great ride man!! Knew I was going to enjoy the vid when you called yourself the idiot. LOL. I am restoring my old 78 f150 4x4 from high school and looking at this holley set up. Subscribed!!
Haha hell yeah, thank you!🤙🤙 It's a great setup for sure
Great job 👍👍
🤙🤙thank you!!
Very cool, love your video! 😎
Thank you! 🤙🤙
Hey, Art. I love your sense of humor and antics. Made watching the series extremely fun. I have last episode to go where 'something broke...' to watch. Hoping I'm not going to die of a broken heart. Oh, I hope you're planning on putting some real seatbelts in there?? You're kinda fun and would like to see more from you.
Haha thank you! There are real lap belts in there 😂
Hello Art, nice show..
Couple of "IMO'S"..
MAYBE, get a racing harness for your significant other, instead of the bungee cord🤔😁
When you said you had 45° or 50° F... Well @ 02:10 this morning I had... Wait for it... -64°F, so now @ 20:05 hrs it's about -60° F, so heating up.
😂 she has a lap belt! But yes better seatbelts are on order. Also, good Lord that's cold. Getting sunrises again yet?
You must be in Canada,I’m in Alaska and it’s around-20.
She wasn't having it bro !! Difference between us & them .
😂😂 to be fair, I'm not a fan of being passenger either.
Thanks for the video. I've driven carb'd cars a huge chunk of my life and never had any issues and switching to aftermarket electronic parts makes me nervous. Especially cause if something ever does come up I can go to any auto parts store and pick up a rebuild kit for Edelbrock and Holley carbs off the wall. I want to be able to control timing, idle speed when A/C is on, and electric fans. EFI itself to me is whatever, but all the extras you get once you switch over is what appeals to me.
Great point!
I would love to put the Holly EFI setup on my Capri but can’t justify that much money right now. Love the truck and your videos. Thanks for doing what you do!
It's well worth it if you eventually decide to! Thank you for the support!!
Hey, I couldn’t take it anymore, I installed a Sniper 2 kit on my 85 Capri. It was pretty easy to install, hopefully it is all that it is hyped up to be. Only time will tell!
Nice! Let me know what you think!
Look at the display bracket by Fat Fender Garage. It mounts on the bottom of your dash and will fold up under it when you don't need to mess with it.
Nice!
The word you were looking for was atomization buuuuut I’d disagree that carbs atomize better than injectors. Where carbs really shine is you get chemical cooling on your IAT’s. There’s where you see more power being made, but like anything in thermodynamics nothing is free, you have to give something to get something and that comes from loss of available fuel to gain that cooling which is where it makes carbs less efficient.
I think for straight up performance carbs can edge out more peak power but FI tuned correctly will give you more under the curve…. Both are great it just depends on the application.
Perfectly said, that's the jist of what I was trying to get at haha.
this will be fun to see the differences time.
did you see richard holdener's 460 test? he used a factory intake and an aftermarket intake. the factory intake made more low-end torque than the aluminum, but lost a good chunk up top, though.
It's drives significantly better with the Weiand intake manifold
hola amigo me gustan estas camionetas son de buena estructura metalica adelante con los clasicos saludos desde Eduador
💯 🤙🤙
Well done on the video! You are entertaining to watch and the video quality is great. I just purchased a sniper two for my 79K 10 squarebody with 500 hp blueprint 400 crate engine. This should be a great improvement over the Edelbrock 1406 that’s on there now. I’m also in the high elevation desert and I’m sick of dealing with cold start and changing carburetor issues. I need to figure out how to do the fuel system and return line since I have dual tanks. Apparently You must run a return line, if I didn’t have to do that. It would be easy.
If I was you, I would get a transfer valve from like a 84ish square body which will have a return for dual tanks. That thing sounds pretty sweet though! I don't blame you, switching to the sniper on this 460 was the greatest thing ever
@@VeteranIdiot The original 400 still runs but was only 185hp and 300tq from the factory. I’ve been wanting a new crate motor for years and finally put one in last year. I’ll look into the newer switching valve and maybe switch to the newer tanks and could possibly run the In tank pump for that year but then I think there’s issues with filler neck size change or something. Nice truck you have and maybe I’ll see you around AZ.
So your sayin it's quicker than the Fox body now? 😵💫 with one leg?
As it sits right now.... Yes 😂
Curious as to what year that motor is. Some 460's were less than 8 to 1 compression ratio. May hinder performance to some degree.
It is an 86 out of a motorhome, when we get new heads we'll look for lower CC.
Looks good mate, I’m thinking of doing this for my 68 continental. Do you know the height of the Holley sniper from the valve cover or the head?
Isn’t my space between my engine and hood 🫣
The Weiand Stealth intake plenum I have is VERY tall but I can get you the height of the sniper itself if you like?
Hey mate yeah it looks huge compared to the stock manifold lol
A height on the Holley sniper would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you sir
It's like 3.25" tall from mounting surface to air filter plate surface.
Thanks mate I’ll do some measuring!
Legend👌🏼
Just a liiiitle turbo😂.
Haha, you have no idea how tempting it is
Do you miss the 4 speed?
I do, and maybe I'll get the right bell housing and throw it back in at some point. But for now, I'm enjoying the crispy shifts of the C6
Did you put the thermostat in upside down or did I miss something???
Wait what? What part of the video are you referencing?
Ohhhhhhh I see what part you're talking about now. No, I set it like that to cover the hole. You can briefly see me flip it over when I put the housing on. 😂
You did it too quick for my old eyes. Lol
😂😂 I had to squint too and double check, you had me worried.
What intake did you go with?
Weiand Stealth dual plane
Thanks for the info. When I get my 429 built, just looking at options@@VeteranIdiot
atomization?
That's the one
Remember folks if 1975 or below no smog. Just drop coyote or ls1 in there n u will actually have real fuel injection. One injector per cylinder. Lol trotle body fuel injection 😂
Sounds expensive
😅😅😅
