I love how she defied ALL odds! They said she couldn’t do more than pop, that when she came out with this hit single and crushed it! They also said she couldn’t dance and sing simultaneously but she proved theM wrong AGAIN! And I love how they put her in colors lots like yellow and green when she’s performing this song so you can’t help but to notice her choreography! She was just AMAZING in all aspects!!!! She defied all odds and I will always love her for that!

Every live recording can be remixed in the studio later. Resung, rerecorded, vocals retuned, if necessary. It was probably not the case with Whitney, but it's quite feasible.
I think from 3:31 it is actually lip synched, you can definitely see at 3:38 that she has not the mic near her face, but the song continues.
Probably because it's, after all, her most difficult song and that peculiar verse of the song it's the hardest, she was dancing and not able to breath properly by consequence.

Mariah looks out of her element when she tries to dance, beyond awkward. Whitney lacked rhythm, but still had no trouble getting up there and doing almost a whole routine and have fun doing it. Mariah dances better than no one.
