I think all Whitney fans can agree this is one of the best performances Nippy EVER delivered, incredible vocals, stage presence and charisma...no cringe-worthy dancing here!
Whitney's videos from that era are the only ones on youtube with 99% positive comments. I just love reading them! If only she knew how much people loved and still love her!
She knew she was well loved and followed. An interviewer (Giuliana Rancic) said to her “You know you have a strong following don’t you?” and Whitney quickly said “Yes!” She knew but the tone in which she said “Yes!” It was audible that she respected and appreciated her following. You gotta love Her Royal Vocal Highness The Queen The Lady Miss Whitney Elizabeth Houston!
This was her "in case you forgot who I is.." moment in the early 90s when they were trying to write her off when stars like Paula, Milli Vanilli and C&C Music Fraudery were in ascendence. Absolute Diva level performance.

After the vocal exchange towards the end(about 5:11) she brings that arm down to signal the music to kick back in she is so OWNING that stage and feeling it. Her stage presence is beyond magnetic.

I liked her rehearsal version she did at the Saturday night live studio..her voice seemed slightly deeper by this performance versus that one where her voice was higher crystal clear and she hit all the top notes with less strain...but still loved this one..if you haven't I recommend you listen to it..also she did 2 versions of all the man I need in that same rehearsal beautifully
5:25 That ending part with all those dancers, Whitney, and the kid - I just wonder how many times they had to practice that so they wouldn't screw that up. If anyone was a step out of beat, that could've been a disaster. But Whitney and her team were PROS' pros, so it's not surprising. I think this performance is totally underrated amongst all in her career. Not a step or moment out of place, and FLAWLESS vocals.

What’s interesting about this performance it that it was early 92. I’m Your Baby Tonight had done just okay, Mariah Carey was the new “it girl” & Whitney seemed to be losing steam. Vocally, I think this is one of Whitney’s top uptempo performances ranking with her 1986 AMA performance of “How Will I Know” and her 1988 Grammy’s performance of “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)”… To address the comments about Whitney losing “steam” with the I’m Your Baby Tonight project, let’s put the facts in perspective in the time period of this performance being completely unbiased. Yes, there were critics that tried to write off her popularity because of the emergence and immediate success of Mariah Carey’s debut album and the high rise popularity of dance music and its’ dominance on Billboard Charts. There are rumors that the I’m Your Baby Tonight Album was made with more R&B influence in response to a reference point of the friction she faced by Black America (research Al Sharpton’s campaign against Whitney Houston) which was displayed at the Soul Train Awards when she first met Bobby Brown either in 1988 or 1989. Yells of boos from the audience whenever her name was called when she was nominated was a blow. However, this album by anyone standards was a successful album in sales and hits with 2 number ones on the Billboard Hot 100, another Top 10 hit with “Miracle”, a Top 40 Hit “My Name is Not Susan”, and Top 10 R&B Hit with “I Belong To You”… Maybe by Arista or Clive Davis expectations, this album did not live up to the previous predecessors in sales, but still a great album. This era produced 4 songs that are apart of my all-time Favorite Whitney songs “Lover For Life, Dancing on a Smooth Edge, I Belong To You, and Feels So Good”. So yes, Whitney did lose “steam” facing competition by peers in the industry. But she stuck to her talents, and that’s what kept her well beloved amongst music listeners However, we would soon come to find out in less than 12 months from this performance, how Whitney reinvented and surpassed her previous popularity with The Bodyguard Soundtrack…
